I don’t see Kane being the third signing that we need. We need midfielders or at least one. A CF should be a possibility next summer depending on Greenwood’s development this season and what’s happening with the combination of our current forwards. I always feel that 3 forwards who can interchange all capable of 20 goals a season is better than a focal point who scores 35 but impacts on the others.

We need goals. Winners from out of nowhere and when we are unable to break teams down. Kane is likely financially impossible and he seemingly wants Pep anyway. I have no idea who we could afford/should go for, but it will end up being a shortcoming this season when we are struggling to score in certain games.
We have goals in Cavani. He started slowly because he haven't player for quite some time when he joined us but then he became a very reliable source of goals as the season went. As long as he stays without injuries I think we will be fine so my priority would be a midfielder as we are clearly lacking some quality there.

Why buy Kane when you can compete for Mbappe and Haaland next year for half the price. Everyone thinks we have no chance but we seem to be ok attracting top talent. The links between Sancho and Haaland and Ole and Haaland count for something. I say leave Kane and go all out for Haaland next year. Or Mbappe. He plays out wide but I dont care. Id put him at number 9. With Rashford and Sancho interchanging who cares.
Cavani is still as sharp as ever. What he lacks in pace he makes up by his positioning and perfectly timed run.

We're good for a striker for now. Next season will probably be different when Cavani is another year older, but it the meantime we've got him, Martial and a couple more who can play up front to a good enough standard if required.

Yup, we have the two most important targets from that list by far. As much as I rate Kane, I’m not convinced he’s a huge upgrade on an in-form Cavani, the one we saw finish the season is still one of the finest strikers around. Kane would likely play more games though for sure.
Varane and Sancho are huge upgrades in areas we’ve desperately needed to strengthen.
The only real question mark in the side for this upcoming season is that sitting midfielder if we’re gonna go with 4-1-2-3. I don’t think it’s as hard a job as is made out for 90% of matches, so I think we could get by with what we have if we concentrate on them doing one job and limit their duties to simply sitting.
I’d personally strongly consider Neves if he’s available on the cheap as he’d maintain a good sell on value and is positionally disciplined.
We can’t afford Kane after Varane and Sancho, we should look at shifting some deadwood now and putting the money towards a new DM and that would arguably be one of our best ever windows.

Having a world class striker like Kane would immediately push us level pegging with City for the title IMO.
We don't need Kane. What we need is a complete CM that is able to put McT/Fred on the bench

This isn’t the summer for Kane now. Cavani greenwood and martial can do a job and when one or two of those leave next summer, then will be the time to splurge big cash on a Haaland.

Fair enough but City won the league this year with basically no striker and Liverpool walked the league without one either a couple years ago. We don't have someone who will score 25+ goals but we have like 4-5 players who can realistically score 15+ each. I would wait a year and then go all in on Haaland/Kane.
Given that Neville breathes United and studies them in extreme detail as his job and life.. I'm very surprised he didn't see the need for a midfielder.
I believe in McTominay more than most on here and think he still will improve. Pogba and Fernandes are obviously good enough. But beyond that, Fred obviously isn't up to par and you're relying a lot on van de Beek completely turning it around. But again, i don't think he suits a midfield 2 or the DM role.

To be fair he won leagues with some absolutely shite midfield combinations playing a hideous amount of games, nowhere near the standard of Pogba, Fernandes, Fred.
I think we might have to because of the finances. I don't buy into this idea a midfielder will solve our problems. It might bin off Fred, and we might be better in play (depending who it is) but I don't see it winning us the league.

Harry Kane is an excellent striker no doubt, but he’s gonna cost over 100m & we already have 4 strikers who are proven at PL level. We have a gaping hole at defensive mid which needs to be the next signing.

I want Haaland not Kane. Haaland is going to be the best CF in the world and has so many years ahead of him. Kane has past his peak already.

I do take your point, but he even said himself that we needed those big signings (Varane, Sancho and Kane) BECAUSE City, Liverpool and Chelsea would strengthen themselves.
If city had signed Messi, Liverpool had signed Mbappe and Chelsea had signed Ronaldo, I could accept your point. But none of them did anything more than you expected them to back when Neville made the statement. In fact I would say they all did less.
