Newcastle United now owned by the PIF | PL receives "legally binding assurances that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will not control NUFC" ;)

The premier league is the actual super league now isn’t it? I mean it was close before, but it’s almost there now. United, Pool, City, Chelsea. Newcastle in a few years. Arsenal will get themselves sorted out sooner or later and be back to a top six level.
It's in all effect been a super league since the big TV deals came in.

The route for a dreamer club like Blackpool (who got to the PL once) or Colchester (who got close around the same time) is closed for a very long time, If ever because the likes of Norwich and WBA will keep yo yoing of the back of parachute payments (ala reward for their constant relegations) but no one cares because they don't threaten the elite.

Because £300m to them is nothing. Buying United would cost the £4b and no matter how rich, £4b is still a lot to be justified. Plus you could probably buy the city of Newcastle for £4b and have change for Middlesbrough too.

If I were to buy a sleeping giant, it would have been Leeds - and that's me saying that as a United fan.
With bielsa there it would be smart too. Buy him some quality defenders and some lethal attackers and yes i could see them being dangerous

Honestly, I get the ethical issues. However, after English football let in gangster oligarchs and Abu Dhabi, there's no reason to reject the Saudis. A day after seeing the Glazers, again, profiteering off of United I can't begrudge the barcodes being happy to be rid of Ashley.

Why wouldn't the Newcastle fans be happy ? Pretty sure they hated the previous owner. This news only means the club is going up for them.

United will do well to hang on to a CL place in the years to come. Tough.
That’s all our fault if anything. A lot depends on Ole this season - if we look dangerous again we can attract some strong talent. Or we could buy a DM in the winter and if we stay close to the top by then we could stay in it

Because whilst Ashley was a cnut, the Saudis are evil.

Makes Glazer selling a shit ton of his shares so very transparent, doesn't it? They already know that top four for us is going to be difficult to maintain and so they're selling up whilst we're still making CL bank.

Let's say in two or three seasons they build a team who is able to challenge for the top four regularly.

I think the team most likely to suffer from that would be Leicester given how close they always come to getting into the CL places.

It’ll be us who suffer the most.

We are miles off City & Liverpool. Chelsea are ahead of us too. Who’s spot in the top 4 do you think they are taking?

They deserve to be top of the PL? Based on what exactly?

My mate said this too. "The fans deserve it". Why though? Newcastle aren't some sleeping giant that have been underperforming. They're an entitled fan base making demands on the back of a short lived Keegan run that wasn't even successful.

No more deserving than say Blackburn, who at least won a PL title.

Not the only reprehensible bastards running a football club but certainly by far the worst, IMO.

I already disliked Newcastle's arrogant and deluded fans. They're going to be a hundred times worse now.

That'd be hilarious. Having unlimited funds and buying those two
I didn't realise Sterling was some scrub. Did City not sign him with all their riches?

Extremely strange looking woman kind of resembles a lion..

Surely she has had plastic surgery?

Edit: Googled her name and she certainly has had plastic surgery that has made her look weird.

Many people on here want Ole out. It doesn’t mean they want Adam Johnson to replace him.

You can hate Ashley and not want MBS, that’s a valid position to take. You can also have some perspective and not make football your main priority in your decision making process, when there are far more important things in life.

No it will be us no one will buy us now and we will be less of an a attraction to players and investors, truly bleak day for United.

Newcastle were the perfect club for them to go for. They absolutely despise their current owner and think they should he doing much better than they have been. Basically us on a whole other level and at least we actually spend money to fail.

Because everything about their club's past, present and future is now a PR salve for the reputation of murderous scumbags. Generally if you love something you don't want it to be used by horrendous people.

It's like celebrating your daughter marrying Fred West because she used to date a traffic warden.

Scary thing is they could win the PL before we do again

Maybe not. If only because De Gea is back to top form and we have Ronaldo.

Except for Brentford only last May

Nah.

If it was a short-term thing, sure, they're in a better position than us in a footballing sense right now. But over the longer run the gap between what we can spend and what Liverpool can spend will see them lose out more. Ditto any other less wealthy clubs.

It won't be less of an attraction to players. Investors yes, but not players. Not as long as we keep the top players we already have. Who doesn't want to play with Pogba, Ronaldo or Varane ?

Liverpool will suffer the most. Their position is being propped up by Klopp. He won’t be there forever, and there isn’t another Klopp out there. We still spend money on par with the oil clubs. They don’t.

So this thread would be 24 pages old if they brought Corinthians or any other club that's zero threat to Europe's elite?

If it's about morals why wasn't everyone on here up in arms when a dodgy owner did what he did to Bury?

Ofcourse there be outliers and you may be one but in general the upset is down to people's clubs being threatened
I think this is a bit unfair, when Saudi take over of United was rumoured, there were plenty of posters on here dead against it.

Of course there were others welcoming the Saudi overlords! But a lot against for good moral reasons.
