Newcastle United v Manchester United

The goals were great headers. If Arsenal scored them you'd be lauding the movement not pinning it all on shit defending. The defending obviously wasn't great, but both Evans and Evra moved well and put great headers in. Suggesting they were piss easy goals is just daft.

Evans' one was a top connection. Newcastle blatantly just didn't think Evra was going to come up for a corner, and hence didn't mark him.

I'll give credit where it's due, but for me, Newcastle's marking contributed more to the goals than the movement on this occasion. You can't fault the finishes though.

Let's say Newcastle defend like Arsenal...

They were probably unlucky not to score once. If they'd have defended properly from corners, they may well have got a point.

It's amazing how people are lauding that performance as an example of United being back to their best. Have you not watched your own team over the last three years? I know you've had a poor performance start to the season, but that should be a 7/10 display for you lot.

And if they scored three goals they would have got a point. Three points if they scored 4 goals. If they scored one goal and we didn't score any they would have got 3 points. One point if both teams scored one goal each. And so on....

We did the identical thing against Chelsea, and after the game, surprise surprise, half of the Caf thought their performance was overrated and that it still didn't prove an awful lot, simply because of how poor our defending was.

Loads of assumptions in the first post, we sat back after the second goal, that's why didnt created much after the goal.

Anyway the first line of that post "Newcastle typically put in the worst performance" against us shit sounds like someone from RAWK.

Made even more ridiculous by the fact they trashed us 3-0 last time we met in the league.

The use of the word 'typically' was referring to the fact that whilst they haven't been that brilliant this season, they've been relatively solid. I wasn't saying that they roll over for you, because that's obviously untrue.

I also said in my posts that you allowed/accepted their dominance after the second goal, hence my surprise at the reaction it got.

I won't bother with this - there's people claiming Cleverley's goal was intentional so we'll leave it at that.

I think it was intentional, and there is clear argument for it. First of, he's said it's intentional, secondly, he takes a look at the goal before he shoots, and third... no one would cross a ball like that with that technique. He makes a clear attempt to get under the ball in order to loop it high and put curl on it... quite simply you would not cross a ball like that.

It's pretty lazy and arrogant to just say "oh he didn't mean it, and anyone who thinks he did is clearly some fecking idiot".

Poor performance from Newcastle.

Webb is crap.

Rooney works SO hard.

I watched the game sat next to a MU fan from Norway.

Yeah, you appreciate his work ethic even more when you're sat there at the game.

Saw quite a few fans in the Newcastle end celebrate when we scored.:D

There were a few moved away for their own safety after they celebrated a little too wildly.

I did tell the guy sat next to me to keep calm....also told him about Redcafe so we might have another Noggie member.

Not to be a downer, but I have to say I agree with alastair here. I missed the first fifteen minutes when by all accounts we were good. For the rest of the first half and a bit of the second we were very much second best.

I reckon it would have just carried on like that until we were 2-0 up though...there's no way we'd have kept up that tempo for the entire 90 minutes, but we didn't seem in the mood to let them have a sniff at being in the game.

Also, even when they did start getting more of the ball (and we started booting it randomly up in the air for some reason), they still weren't really causing any problems or stopping us from playing our way out. They only had a short spell of getting some joy down the right hand side, and then we just bought Valencia on and the joy was instantly crushed.

Best performance this season by a mile...when was the last time we went to another decent team's ground, took the game to them, and won easily? I can't even remember

Good summary really. Last away performance in the league as good as that was probably 3-3 with Chelsea last year.
