Er...no idea?

hopefully back to winning ways and fluid football.

Please...don't put Carrick at the back with Demba Ba. Get him in midfield where he can create.

our tough stretch run of fixtures starts now, not confident about this, we really need Rio and Smalling back soon enough.

Jesus, January the 4th. Time does fly ffs.

SUBS: de Gea, Smalling, Fryers, Anderson, Park, Welbeck, Hernandez.

That's probably the best-case scenario.

As long as we play players in their own position and not make it look like names were picked out of a hat to decide their position this time.

Team should be...

GK: De Gea

RB: Rafael
CB: Smalling
CB: Ferdinand
LB: Evra

RM: Valencia
CM: Carrick
CM: Jones
LM: Nani

CF: Rooney
CF: Berbatov

Subs: Lindegaard, Fryers, Keane, Anderson, Park, Hernandez, Welbeck

God lets hope for some of our injured players to be back

Crucified Leroy the Red. The most terrible match day started in this history of the caf.
:)
Hail Vidared.

Is there a more frustrating player than Rio in terms of his availability? When you need him the most, he is always injured.
It is amazing how injuries can occur at just one position for us so often. I never in my craziest thoughts thought we could be in this situation at the back.

DDG must be in goal , I dont agree with all this bollocks about dropping him.

It was not that long ago that we were praising him for being one of the best keepers in the PL , one dodgy game does not change that.

i believe he knew that as well as you

happy new year!

Just hope we dont 'rest' players with the city game in mind.

i rather we gone out of the fa cup (yes even if its citeh :()than to lose this, the league is our only hope for this season.

It is going to be a very tough game specially if we dont have 2 regular CBs playing. Ba has been very very good recently. If we have our players fit and playing in their regular positions i'd expect us to win by a goal or 2.

Rio and Smalling are supposed to be fit for this. Jones is fit too.

We may actually be able to field a back 4 containing 4 defenders for this one

Odd comment. The league is certainly the priority but if we beat City then the cup is a very likely prospect.

We'll drop points if Carrick is forced to play CB again.

This is a difficult one. Smalling and Ferdinand should be back, along with the likes of Giggs and Rooney who could well come into the side. With City up next after this game I'm not sure how much tinkering Fergie will do - but perhaps the Blackburn result will influence Fergie and due to the importance of the next few fixtures he'll just go full strength and relatively unchanged for a few games like he did recently.

I'd be tempted to still play Jones in midfield, but with the option of bringing on Anderson now we might as well stick Jones at Right Back. However, I can also see Rafael starting at Right Back with one of Jones, Ferdinand, or Smalling on the bench - most likely Ferdinand or Smalling due to being out for a bit. Rooney should come back in and Berbatov deserves to start due to his recent goal scoring record. When we play Man City, I can see us going 433 with Rooney leading the line, but we'll have to wait and see. If Giggs is on the bench for Newcastle then I think he'll play behind the striker in the FA Cup.

There's a good chance City will drop points against Liverpool before we play, so a win here could be 'massive'. If they draw for example, then we beat Newcastle and dump City out of the FA Cup, I'd like to see what they're really made of - if they can bounce back from that. I don't think we'll drop points here now.

Berbatov has to play. On the past three games he's been the most consistent performer with regards to his role in the side. I'd love him to be thrown in against City too, just to mix it up a bit. One game at a time though I know - just hope that Ferdinand and Smalling can make this one more than anything else. If they play I think we'll win, what with Valencia, Nani, Giggs, Berbatov and probably Rooney we'll get chances and I'm sure we'll score - it's just about keeping them out (to state the obvious).

Leroy had a good run and it was fun while it lasted, but when we need reassurance of trusted old institutions, we need VidaRed in da hood.

Given its a very tough away fixture, I think SAF will go with lots of runners and stamina in the on the flanks, hence playing Valencia at RB and Park in right midfield. Lots of lung power there too with Jones, Park, Nani and Valencia. Need to win the physical battle first, can then see us winning in the 2nd half after the introduction og Giggs while Newcastle tire.. Am expecting BerbaCoolio to score one and two assists .... his form is just sensational right now.

Just hope we dont 'rest' players with the city game in mind.

We have the likes of Rafael, Anderson, Giggs, Welbeck and Hernandez and maybe even Evans all fresh for City and the cup. Also Rooney has been rested for 2 games now. We should be fine as long as we can field a steady back 4.
