Newcastle United vs. Manchester United

Stayed up till 5am to watch this shite. Rooney pisses me off. Always fecking moaning at the ref or other players. Giggs doesn't have the legs anymore. CM blah blah blah. Valencia is such a limited player and is NOT a defender. Hernandez needs to stop being offside every fecking time and contribute to our build up play. So many negatives from todays performance.

fecking shambolic! Disgraceful and a shocking performance by all!

Jones' own goal was the icing on the fecking cake.

The problem with a Giggs and Carrick partnership in the middle is that it relies on two things happening: 1. we keep possession and 2. the opposition don't attack the middle with speed and force. 1 and 2 did not happen. What happened was a team that is known for their force in the middle overran both of them, causing extreme pressure on the defense. This caused the whole team to constrict on itself, canceling any potential winged attacks. With two strikers unable to hold up play properly and no support on the wings, this was bound to happen.

Don't see why people are surprised. Once Fergie's 11 was released, it was downhill from there.

Squad rotation worked before when we had the bette squad but with injuries, loss of form making changes was a risk too far.

its a fecking farce , I am fecking pissed off, not really forward to the city match on this showing, we are going to be in trouble if Fergie carries on thinking we don't need investment in the team.

Yep. I said that before the game after seeing the team selection. Its not even hindsight!!

I know we were shit today there is no denying it but our second half luck has been piss poor all season when we've been behind.

This lot makes the Kleberson era side look like world beaters.

3 points is all the gap is but given the fact that City seem invincible at home and we are going from one disaster to the other I don't think you can blame people for stating that City are favourites to win the league this year.

Skilful sure... creative... not really. The ability to beat a man is just a skill, a skill that turns a 50/50 outcome into an outcome that is more favourable to you. What does he do after the skill? He puts in a cross... I'm not knocking him in ANY sense or fashion, but he is not creative.

Being creative is creating space, playing a killer ball, and most importantly making it look dead fecking easy.

I get what you are saying, but he does have a very impressive number of assists.

Granted, this is not the best statistic ever invented, but he does have the ability to create something from nothing...and has demonstrated this a number of times so far this season.

One aspect of Ronaldo's play that always impressed me was that his touch was always secure and controlled. He never seemed to need to fight to control the ball. A few years ago Tevez was criticized for just this - the fact that it looked like a struggle every time the ball was played into his feet.

I think Rooney's first touch is actually pretty poor. He does have the highlights but so many times (and not just tonight..but also specifically tonight) his first touch is not what you expect from a true world-class player.

Anyway - completely appreciate what you are saying.

Better team won, we didn't trouble their well organized defense, they out powered us in midfield and Ba caused Rio and Jones a lot of problems, there was just a total lack of fire in the team tonight.

Yep. I said that before the game after seeing the team selection. Its not even hindsight!!

So how is it, if its not hindsight, that you have a better feel for what will work in this game than Sir Alex Ferguson??

By discounting hindsight, you are implying that you have a better tactical understanding than SAF.

I have not seen a single positive post from you - they all seem to rely on hindsight, which is, as we all know, 20-20.

Very poor performance from us today.

Lindegaard actually played okay in goal, and wasn't at fault for the goals, but I still feel that we should have stuck by our man and played De Gea.

At the back, we were woeful. Ferdinand was lucky not to concede a penalty, and he was very unconvincing throughout the whole game. You look to your experienced players to lead the line well in this sort of situation, but I don't think that he did. Jones was woeful, again. He's got enormous potential, but it's suicidal to play him at centre back right now. Evra actually had a decent game out at left back, but Valencia showed us why he's not a right back. Constantly getting caught out of position. We should have started with Rafael.

The midfield wasn't a lot better. I slated Liverpool for having plenty of the ball in the middle, but doing nothing with it. We were much the same tonight. I actually felt that Giggs played well, but Carrick was anonymous. Park drifted all over the midfield, but did nothing, while Nani's end product was woeful at times.

Rooney was abysmal up front. His first touch was non-existent at times, and I was expected him to bounce back with a good performance. For all he has done recently, Berbatov mastered the art of being a ghost tonight. Forgot he was there for most of the game.

I won't write us off, as we're only three points behind, and I hope that nobody else does write us off, because we're not out of it, but there were some very worrying signs out there tonight.

Chill out!

It's january, and we're only 3 points behind!

fecking hell!

it doesn't look good for our chances when you see the away fixtures we have coming up. City have already played most of their tough matches away.

I think Rio covered for Jones a lot tonight...was actually happy with Rio's performance, except for a couple of needless cruyff turns!

I posted before the game started it wasnt going to work out for the reasons I stated during the game and at the end.

So how can it be hindsight. read my posts in this thread.

Unfortunately there wasnt much positive in todays game. When there are positives I'll post them -read my posts in the DDG thread.

extremely gutted we have undone our good work with this 2 damaging defeats.....

Did I miss something, Carrick and Giggs getting metions in the MOTM thread. I'll admit at least Giggs was trying but neither had a good game let alone close to being worthy of MOTM....in fact no one had a good game.

Defeats are a part of football..It's how you bounce back...The bounce back from the Blackburn game that was it.? Shambolic. Some of the players need to look in the mirror and have a good look at themselves and realise what it means to pull on the shirt.
Considering the injury list we have being only 3 points behind is ok.
But the nature of some of our performances this year is worrying
