Newcastle United vs. Manchester United

God damn you Brophs. God damn you a lot.

The only thing more embarrassing than that performance is some of the whinging in this thread, we all hate losing but man up and gain some perspective for crying out loud.

losing is never the point...its the way we lose.

no desire no fight no chances created all game....

We've been shocking for the most of last season yet still won the league.

Yes, but we had that Dutch bloke at the back...and our CB pairing wasn't all that bad...despite Rio missing games.
Will be a shame if goal difference will be the decisive factor. City have run away with the GD and results between teams. We won't make up for 6-1.

They've got a tough month coming up, to be fair.

Nani is our most creative player - and does provide us width. I'm sure Valencia wouldn't have played as RB if we didn't have the injuries.

So given that Young was not available...and we were lacking in options in defense...

Who would you have played on the wing to give us width?

Nani and valencia on the wings. I said both nani and park together dont work. not individually.

Rafael at right back.

If SAF is so worried about the long ball then lets score more and force them on the backfoot than worry about their strikers,

How the hell does this get fixed?

If we had a Vidic, we probably wouldn't have conceded the first goal...

I think we should stick to the basics, organize the back four first, it's been our big weakness in both games that we've lost...

Next we should sort out our RB. As good as we've been we've had 4 players play RB, Valencia, Rafael, Smalling, Jones... Jones has been the best for me, we should stick either a natural RB at that position as Valencia is also best playing on the wings...

In our attack... We did improve a bit in the 2nd half where Rooney was dropping deep, we need more of that...

Nani once double teamed has to play in the centre more, we have to get Nanners in where he can create something, this entire game he's played with his back against the goal, not what you'd want from our current best winger...

Rooney's first touch should improve...

...

Really, Vidic's absence has hurt us the most... I really miss him.

We were out muscled all over really, in midfield and in defence tonight. 2 goals were punts forward (including Phil Jones OG), other than that Lindegaard had no real pressure/saves. Great freekick by Cabaye too.

We had no real shape today. Parky was all over the place and out of position, and we should have done better down the right with Nani-Tony V. Touches and passes were astray all night. Just one of those games where we were not up for it or not at the races. Injuries have hampered us, but we still should be performing much better.

I don't get this notion that Rooney & Nani are 'creative' players... Nani can beat a player and put in a cross, Rooney can work hard and score a cracker.. they aren't creative by nature. Giggs is the only player I would consider 'creative' in our team.

Sounds creative to me.

Also being able to fashion a chance out of nothing..which he can do perhaps more capably than anyone else in the team.

fecking hell. Can't deny Newcastle their victory, I thought they played out of their skins tonight.

some need to have a long hard look at themselves after this and mr rooney needs to fetch his head from up his arse. I wouldn't mind quite as much if there was a little bit of passion and belief but there isn't even a slight hint of it at the mo.

This has to be the worst United-team i've seen in a while when it comes to fighting spirit and effort. Shocking to see some players looking like they dont give a feck when we're a few goals down

Sadly I agree with this. As recent as last season if we were 2-0 down with 70 odd minutes gone, I'd still have faith. But this season we haven't knocked anyone down like that, you can literally see the heads going down, it's really demoralizing to watch as it's not what we're about at all. If we lose I'd much rather we did so all guns blazing.

Phil Jones is not good enough in the central defence.
Do you know that he has lost all the aerial battles.
United has problem when teams play it high to the center.
Currently, there is no other United center back in that is good in the air
except Vidic who is injured. Time to buy a good one.
SAF has lost all his tactical awareness.

f**cking disgrace, stick the P.L. trophy in a cab and send it across to council house

This sort of talk can feck right off.

I mean... wow? What the feck? Want to give the league to the fecking Berties in January? are you fecking mad?

Christ on a bike

I thought we played with urgency, but the problem was we couldn't get the right players into decent positions, our wingers mostly played with their backs against goal.. We had no CF like Ba to hold the ball and cause a nuisance ( Not that I'd want us to do that )...

The problem this game that I noticed was Newcastle was determined, Ameobi + Ba was pressureing Carrick/Giggs for the whole match, their Fullbacks were so stuck in to our wingers... We just couldn't get past their first line of attack.

Skilful sure... creative... not really. The ability to beat a man is just a skill, a skill that turns a 50/50 outcome into an outcome that is more favourable to you. What does he do after the skill? He puts in a cross... I'm not knocking him in ANY sense or fashion, but he is not creative.

Being creative is creating space, playing a killer ball, and most importantly making it look dead fecking easy.

Giggs, retire gracefully...he has the odd glimpse of brilliance, but he's quickly going downhill.

Now, Fergie has let us down badly. We were free scoring, looking very much a team, then severely changes the team against Blackburn and with it, loses all our momentum.

Utterly shite, spineless performance with little fight. When teams close us down like Newcastle (and Barca) we shit out, Carrick especially...no fecking fight whatsoever.

Both of these 2 losses were avoidable against opposition we should beat due to awful team selections compounded by poor substiutions in todays game.

Newcastle have some gems in that team. Ba, Tiote, Cabaye and Krul looks really good.

We played for 10 minutes each half with urgency. We were poor otherwise. Nothing really going forward, slow movement and couldn't even keep the ball for more than 6 passes.

Silly argument there. Best team we could have had on the pitch at our disposal, they let us down. Players we brought on done crap aswell. Chico was lost. Not fergies fault at all, not by a long shot.
