Neymar Jr | PSG | 2017/2018 performances

One thing I don't get is people who say that this transfer benefits him in his personal ambition to become the Ballon d'Or and one of history's greats...

Anyone who has ever played any kind of sport knows that in order to develop your game you need to be pitting yourself up against the best adversaries you can as regularly as you can, having to come up with new solutions to the ways in which they try to deal with you as they do exactly the same... For example we don't send our best youngsters on loan to League One clubs when they could be playing in La Liga. You could argue that he will still be training with top players (though no longer the world's best) but you can never recreate that high pressure, high intensity atmosphere of real match time.

How is this a good move for Neymar to be able to develop his game and become a true great?

Before I'm castigated for being disrespectful to Ligue 1, it was one repeat year's European performance from going behind Portugal's Primeira Liga before the terrorist fundraiser extraordinaires took over PSG, and the net spend of clubs outside of Monaco since then hasn't really changed.

They are not on the same level but L1 is on the rise while La Liga seems to slowly get back to more sustainable levels.

Interesting things are happening in Monaco, Lyon, Marseille, Nice and Lille, it only lacks a long term competitor for PSG. La Liga maybe stronger but claims that it's another world compared to L1 are vastly exaggerated.

Exaggerated as in La Liga clubs have won 4 times more Champions Leagues/European Cups in the last 4 years than Ligue 1 clubs in their entire history?

I have the feeling things will cool down for Neymar come November. And he can do very well in L1, in the end, no one will care really and he wont win a ballon d'or because of that and unless Brazil does not win the WC or he wins the CL (which I doubt will happen)

I think 2018 will be his best chance for the Ballon D'or.

Brazil strong favorites with their recent form and Neymar's always performed well for Brazil. If they win the WC and he's instrumental, might be enough.

We'll try to fix those appalling stats as soon as possible.

A few years ago Spanish clubs were ruling Europe with some crazy stats like 95% wins in knockout ties. Now I would back OL and OM against their Spanish Europa counterparts.

Of course, but until you do, you can't really talk big about Ligue 1. Certainly not in comparison with La Liga, EPL, Bundesliga and Serie A.

Many people have said the same. And yet, they watched Sevilla dominated EL all those years.

I'd say right now L1 is pretty much comparable with Buli and Serie A. Last year results confirm this and I expect the trend in Europe to continue.

Is he making his debut this week?

Well if barca win the UCL, the ballon d'or will always go to messi but if PSG win the UCL, he has a very strong case for it.

Kaveh is bit of a moron. I'm sure he'll move to other network if given sizable increase in his wages.

General public and journalists expect players to just ignore the money.

I don't think any big money moves are on the cards for Kaveh. He'll be lucky to keep what he has.

If the money increase you're talking about is merely the difference between buying one private tropical island or two then I'd say they're within their rights.

None of us live forever and statues aren't built in homage to bank accounts.

Would you not move jobs if some other company doubles your current wage?

Not if my wages were incredible already and I was at a better company

Well that's easy to say as an outsider but when actually given a chance to double the money(Irrespective of the fact how much you're earning at that time), I think 99% of general public would take it.

I honestly don't think I'd be any happier earning £500k a week than earning £250k a week. It's play money at that point, what would I even do with it?

What a pass to Di Maria with his very first touch

Those around you would be happier for you, you can be sure about that. A decision like that, no one makes it alone.
Again, for that money I could either buy them a nice 5 bedroom house every 2 weeks or every week.

At that point who cares, it's the last thing I'm prioritising.

He's been fairly average so far, there's flashes there though. Will probably end up scoring a couple.

You wouldn't know how you'd react anyway, money turns the nicest people into creatures of greed. I always find it funny people commenting their hypothetical reaction.

Would be the viewpoint of a hooker in Taipei.

I however like to think I'd be more of a Totti or Messi.

Had a very good game, every touch almost he was threatening and pushing forward. His understanding with Cavani was great despite this being their first game together. You can tell the team is still trying to find their chemistry but I look forward to seeing them in the CL.
