Neymar Jr | PSG | 2017/2018 performances

First of all, he is a piece of shit. How can he look himself in the mirror after the game, and watch those replays without feeling any shame, I will never understand. Also, I don't understand why aren't they booking him for diving?

Btw, I think he raises his acting on another level whenever he is not playing well, he probably wants people to talk about his playacting to forget about his performances.

Anyway, shit tournament, I really don't think he is third best player in the world. I don't know who is, but I would pick Hazard over him in my team easily.
Now that's just your hatred for the guy clouding your judgement. Hazard has never reached the heights Neymar has reached. Hazard is quality but he and Bale belong to a tier below Neymar.

No, just no.
He was great in the treble year, he was hugely important in his final year at Barca and he was quality (albeit in a rubbish league) last season as well. His World Cup was better than Messi's and the same level or better than Ronaldo's. Neymar might not have a decade of performances that Messi and Ronaldo do but his peak is the same bracket as theirs imo.

Honestly he isn't, he is nowhere near them. It's crazy how he's put on the same pedestal

Never seen a player so talented hated so much by people.

I genuinely worry that people hate a diver more than a bad tackler.

I agree with that, but I think when you ignore goals Hazard is clearly better player. Of course, ignoring goals is a big thing. Put them both in Barcelina or Real Madrid and I don't think Hazard would be any worse than Neymar.

Btw, I don't like Hazard's character either, I think he is one of biggest divers in EPL, the way he tricks every referee by putting his legs intentionally whenever he is going to lose the ball is pretty much diving for me. I cannot understand how referees buy it, it's never a foul in a million years.

His last season at Barcelona was unreal. He's a fecking great player when he concentrates on simply playing.

I think Neymar is a lot more than just goals. He's a brilliant dribbler and some of the balls he plays are brilliant. He's played some absolutely exquisite passes even for PSG this year. I hate Neymar as well but it's hard to deny that he's easily the 3rd best in the world.

That game against PSG was some of the craziest single minded determination to win a game I've ever seen. Even when they still needed 3 goals to win with 7 mins or so to go.

Yeah, I’m tired of the playacting as well but you do remember Rivaldo vs turkey?

Yea I remember that incident with Rivaldo. That was just once and I'm sure he realized he went a bit overboard.

Neymar on the otherhand has absolutely no shame in rolling around on the ground. He's been doing it since his Santos days and going to Barcelona has made it worst.

Charlie Adam is universally hated. I have a lot of time for Neymar but he sometimes doesn't want to compete.

He was, but still below both Messi and Ronaldo.

Peak or not he’s inferior to them, which is no shame as they are in a very elite tier.

He’s not as good as Dinho at his peak either. Rivaldo, Kaka - that tier.

Another World Cup gone. Last one he was very effective, this one he seemed more interested in showing off than winning. Based on this last year or so he's far from the 3rd best player in the world.

The ref was top tonight, basically kept saying “get up you cheating t#*t” and it seemed to work.

He under-performed all tournament.

Probably bad timing to come in after that long layoff.

He got very lucky to not get booked for that dive.

I disagree. Hazard, although inconsistent at times, is still more consistent than Neymar. There's not much in it but wouldn't put it down to clouded judgement, just opinion.

Everything has been said about Neymar.

To cheat is one thing, to overly cheat is another one. The 1st one can be profitable, the 2nd one is counterproductive.

Also, he isn't in the best shape given his injury.

Sad that Messi, Cristiano and Neymar (30 years old in 2022) won't win the World cup!

Why can‘t Neymar win it when he will be 30? I am sure he will still be a world class player by that time.

The team will have enough quality for sure. There are still Coutinho, Firmino, Casemiro plus those new super talents Vinicius, Rodrygo, Paulinho, Arthur etc

There must be a reason why Barca/Real pay 45m for teenagers.

The heights that Neymar reaches when diving in the air is really a sight to behold yes.

Hazard can't reach that. he is too busy playing actual football.

Hazard is better and Mbappe has a higher ceiling as well .

I wouldn't go pinning hopes on new 'super talents', when one of the biggest ones in a while in Neymar hasn't produced the goods at this World Cup. Also a lot can happen in 4 years, people used to talk about how special players like Ganso, Pato and Robinho could become, they didn't/haven't achieved their potential.

They pay that much because the Brazilian clubs know they've got a talent on their hands and drive a hard bargain, there's usually a lot of clauses put in the transfers just incase they do go on to achieve big things.

Probably the most unlikable player in world football atm, delighted Brazil are out.

Hazard no showed an entire season.

Neymar is more consistent than him.

Add going out of a World Cup in Fellaini's back pocket to his resume. Looking at Brazil's last 2 WC winning teams tells the story. He's not Rivaldo, he's not Romario, and he's most definitely not Ronaldinho or Ronaldo. In their company he's filling water bottles and carrying equipment.

Ronaldo and Ronaldinho played on far better Brazil teams than this one.

This Brazil team stlll lacks a midfield.

Terrible world cup for Neymar. Despite playing in a Brazillian team that had plenty of quality and cohesion, and gave him a solid platform to work from, he just never got his game going the entire tournament. When games are tight he does have a tendacy, like our own Pogba, to make poor decisions in the team's context.

Last night De Bruyne and in particular Hazard completely outshone him.

No over ever expected Cristiano to. Messi moreso, but he’s done more than enough domestically to soften the burden. Neymar’s only shot at being considered anywhere near those two historically, was to win one. Which by sheer dint of being Brazilian, and it being blithely expected of every great Brazilian, seemed by far the most plausible.

That he probably won’t now just shows how ridiculous it is that you, or anyone, still even mentions him in that company. He’s done nothing to deserve it.

Which isn’t to say he’s not a great player. He is. But this notion that he’s the obvious heir to the GOAT crown has consistently proven to be bollocks. He’s not even close. He’s not a spent force by any means, but at 26, I reckon we can say he’s not gonna push on to any new heights either... He’s in the absolute prime of his life and they’re both still outscoring him in their 30s. Put it to bed. He’s not getting there.

Besides, the hyperbolic hype train’s already move into Mbappe anyway.

I mean it was a unique opportunity to win the World Cup at his prime. He relies a lot on his pace and acceleration so in 2022...

Neymar talked a lot and now He has to go home.

Exactly, when I've read his comment about Mexico; my 1st reaction was to think he would pay for that kind of public message. It's done now

It was supposed to be hurtful :(

I'm French but I have to say it would have been painful to see France against Neymar so no longer a conflict of interests in my mind!

Indeed, a guy like Ronaldinho won in the company better players than him: Rivaldo, Ronaldo...

Brazil misses a world-class central striker #9

Brazil’s midfield in 2002 was Gilberto Silva and Kleberson.

That was not a world class midfield by any stretch.

No, not even close
