Some Americans obsession with patriotism and the flag is so bizarre. I mean it can be bad here too but this is weird.

Considering the fact that our country was founded by people who literally rebelled against their country, protested their country's government, protested their country's flag, etc...

Yep. It's absolutely mind boggling to hear people argue that people shouldn't protest. I've got a portrait of George Washington and a copy of the Declaration of Independence hanging up in my room. Every time I hear students argue against American's protesting, I ask them if they think I should remove those things from the walls.

Utterly stupid. No doubt brought in by owners desperate to gain some favours from the tweeter in chief.

Its one of the hardest things to get used when you emigrate here. The school day starts with the National Anthem, every sports event does, and some people fly the flag on their property year round. Very bizarre.

NBA will become America's biggest sport in my lifetime I reckon. NFL is just so backwards. Then again, so are a lot of Americans.

This is ridiculous.

Has there been much player reaction yet? I.e tweets or interviews etc.

Not seen players reaction but apparently the Jets owner said his players are free to do as they please and any fines will be paid from his own pocket.

So why agree to it in the first place?

Seems like a way of distancing themselves from the players. Gives illusion to public who won’t read all the details that owners are against kneeling and have agreed to a fine structure.

At the same time by covering any fines, can play the card that “it’s all for image but we support you”.

Stupid

The whole thing is just dumb.

The NBA has a stricter anthem policy than the NFL.

Yeah, the NBA and NHL share the same protocol where players and staff are supposed to stand and line up in a dignified posture. What bothers me with the NFL is that no one noticed that Lynch was never standing, it didn't bother anyone because it wasn't part of an official protocol.

By the way:

Some players may react on twitter but most will allow the players association to deal with it. There's an argument to be made that this violates the collective bargaining agreement.

I wonder if it’s a move to satiate Trump, and try to just move on from it. So you come out with a heavy hand that makes a strong statement like this so you can say you did something, and the patriotics calm down. But when it comes to enforcement you do it quietly, like $500 to a charity for vets or something which the owner catches.

Everybody calms down, and we go back to talking about important things like what is a catch, and what the hell is a kickoff now...?

Just heard on Golic and Wingo that the NFL didn’t even actually hold an official roll call vote on the anthem policy. Just had a show of hands.

Very sad to hear of Dwight Clark’s death.
That 49ers squad from the 80’s remains my favourite NFL team.

Bad day.

Why, is he 300lbs now?
Just announced that he got busted for PEDs and is suspended for 4 games which he’s appealing. He tore his ACL last year so makes it kinda strange. Was he juicing sitting on his couch while recovering from injury?

Recovery is one of the periods where PED use is most beneficial (and common).

Ffs Jules
Fear not. Braxton Berrios will make Pats fans forget about all of them.
Will be like nothing has changed with Wes Welker 2.0

He wasn't sitting on the couch, he was training hard in a protected environment.

TO just ran a 4.44 40-yard dash. Would love to see a character like him back in the league but doubt anyone will take a chance with him.
