Jimmy Smith suspended for the first four games of the season, already a big dent in the Ravens' playoff hopes.

Jets QB competition is also interesting by the way, after having read up on it. I really want Bridgewater to start the season but fear it'll be Darnold straight away.

Where is Hard Knocks episode 3? It's not on Sky or Gamepass and I'm confused and definitely missing something.

Isn't it on Sky tonight? It was on in the US last night.
I've been in the US watching it there so I wasn't sure when and where it's on. Also a bit of a jetagged mess at the moment but I just can't see it on the guide or catch up? Apologies if this is glaringly obvious..

Can't check at the moment but if I remember correctly my series link is on Sky Sports Action (?) at 22:30?

It's on Friday night isn't it?

That's what it is in my planner anyway.

Chad Kelly getting first team reps in practice, looks like he's bagging the backup role, probably no vet being traded for and Paxton will most likely be cut.
I have very mixed emotions about Kelly being our backup. He didn't exactly cover himself in glory in his time at Clemson.

I am going to put an acca bet on the 8 division winners , it has no chance of coming in but should be fun anyway . Who do people see as the 8 winners ?

I am looking at Pats,Steelers,Jags,Chargers,Eagles,Vikings,Saints and Rams which is a cool 217/1

Pats
Steelers
Jags (Texans if everyone stays fit)
Raiders (Chargers, Chiefs to run them close)
Eagles (‘Boys depending on Zeke’s form)
Packers (never betting against Rodgers, but Vikings should be thereabouts)
Saints (too much talent, but Falcons should be better as last year)
Rams (Niners as a dark horse maybe)

Steelers, Pats are the only locks imo.

What are the changes Raiders have made apart from the coach ?

Came in to say this. I'd be happier betting on last place in every division and I'd still expect some surprises there.

Decided to put my money where my mouth is:

Not much, but it is significant. Gruden with an actually good QB could be dangerous.
You really think that? I have a completely different feeling about the Raiders. I think they’ll implode in stunning fashion.
That team has next to no real talent on it. The only difference maker on the D is frustrated with his contract and we’ll have to wait and see if Carr can further develop. I don’t think they’ll win more than six games.

I’m somewhere in between both of you. I don’t see them imploding, disagree that there is virtually no talent on their roster, but also don’t see them being particularly dangerous.

Raiders waive their second round pick from last year. Obi Melifonwu. Apparently injured again. Must be pretty significant, if they are already willing to move on.

The Raiders have a very good young QB, if he resembles anything of the '16 Carr instead of the '17 one they'll be a contender in a division that is literally wide open. They have a talented WR1 who is bound to have a better season than last year, and added a veteran WR who is still a red zone threat in Nelson. Beastmode was one of the best statistical RBs in the league last season once he settled a bit, excellent in yards after contact and categories like that. If Gruden wants to play the game old-fashioned he'll see plenty of touches and cause a lot of damage. The Raiders are stacked on offense, that won't be the problem. They have to perform better on D.

The alternatives are a talented yet depleted Chargers team that always seem to be this close to the playoffs, the Chiefs who on defense lost their best CB and their best S hasn't played in over a year, led by a QB with next to no experience in the league, and a Broncos squad which could go either way depending on how the defense has adapted and whether a journeyman QB can duplicate his excellent last season.

That's a really good bet. Half of those are lock-ins and 2 or 3 look very probable.

Why Jets over Dolphins though? They (the Dolphins) seem like an obvious choice for having a very bad season.

Honestly that was one of the hardest choices. I have a friend who is a Jets fan who is forever pessimistic about them so I think it rubbed off on me!

Tyrod out with a hand injury. Mayfield bossing it again

Cleveland 5-0 Philly, sounds like a thriller.

Also, thanks to those who set me straight on Hard Knocks days and times, was a zombie.

Is it me or is Baker Mayfield just immense. I'm loving this guy and his throwing. so mature for a rookie and first round draft pick.
