Norwich City vs Manchester United

Date: Saturday, 09 April 2005, 15:00
Competition: FA Premiership
Venue: Carrow Road

Saha and Rooney for me. Smith, as we haven´t got wingers besides G & R, should play right-wing with Ronnie on the left. RVN should play in the reserves until he plays like we all know he can.

As long as Saha, Smith, Brown and Kleberson plays I'm saticfied.

Well my starting 11 would be:

-----------------------Howard-------------------

G. Neville------Ferdinand---O'Shea---------Heinze

--------------------P. Neville--------------------

------Ronaldo--------Scholes---------------Giggs

----------Rooney------------Smith---------------

Assuming Giggs is fit I would start him otherwise it would be Rooney in Giggs' place and Ruud up top with Smith.
Keane would be on the bench resting and giving Phil "the drill" Neville ago in the midfield, I feel he should play more than what he does....United always seem to play well with him in the midfield along side Roy.
Also start O'Shea instead of Silvestre who for me has had an awful season.

Saha - Smith

Ronaldo - Keane - P. Neville - Kleberson*

Heinze - Silvestre - Rio - G. Neville

Howard

* or with Keano resting:

Fortune - Kleberson - Ronaldo
P. Neville

In the defence I dont see any need to change. Upfront Smithy deserves a chance. Saha too. And maybe we should rest Ginger.

I wouldn't mind using running a modified 5-3-2 with Keane playing in the No. 5 holding spot.

Run Fortune in place of Giggs, and with the pace of Ronaldo and Scholes, Rooney and Smith up front would should destroy them. Smith had an awesome game out against Norwich early on in the season.

Any team that plays in yellow deserves a thrash in

Yellow for christ sake, what the feck is that about?

I'd play this, if Giggs and Saha are not fit (otherwise Giggs in for Ronaldo, and Saha in for Scholes).

I don't think the 4-3-3 works with Ruud up top, and we can play two in the middle if both Keane and Phil play (Jones if we're feeling bold).

--------Howard---------
G Nev--Rio---Wes---Gabe
----Keane---Phil/Jones---
Rooney------------Ronaldo
----Scholes---RVN-------

I mean, it wouldn't be so bad if they were good enough to get away with it, but they're not, they just look like yellow twats

Ruud has to play..he may not be scoring for fun right now but once he notches his first and gets match fit he'll be back to his lethal best..ideally in time to batter Newcastle (not that someone else has to batter them, they're quite happy to do it themselves it seems) in the cup semi.

agreed

-----howard------
wes--rio--silves--heinze
-scholes-keano-ronaldo
-rooney-ruud-smith--
while ruud and smith are playing as real strikers, ronaldo and rooney in a free role, over the wings, the passes and link play by scholes and keano doing the dirty work!

its time that we start to play offensive and stop playing with 2 defensive midfielders!

Injuries, suspensions etc permitting, play:

-----------Howard-----------
GNeville-Rio-Silvestre-Heinze
---Scholes-Keano-Fortune---
--Ronaldo--Smith--Rooney--

I would like to see Smith in the starting lineup, I would not like to se Keane in the starting lineup and I would like to see Kleberson and Saha on the bench.

Why on earth do people not want to play Keane?! Can you not see how much we rely on him? I'm going to look at our results without him in the team...

OK - matches where Keane has played less than a half:

Blackburn (A): 1-1 didn't play
Everton (H): 0-0 didn't play
Arsenal (H): 2-0 didn't play
Portsmouth (A): 0-2 Keane 26 minutes
A. Villa (H): 2-1 Keane 31 minutes
Portsmouth (H): 2-1 didn't play

Pretty inconclusive, actually. Feck it, I still think he's vital.

The most interesting thing that came out of that little look at the stats was that of the 13 matches Fletcher has played most of, we have the following record:

Wins: 11
Draws: 2
Losses: 0
Goals: 27
Against: 6

Fecking hell - he's our most important player!

And if that's not bad enough, they call themselves the canaries, the canaries! I mean, what the feck?

It makes my blood boil it does

If he gets booked, he's out of the semi final...

Ok. Good reason. I'll just feck off, now, then...

Delia has a good recipe involving boiled blood and canaries. You should try it.

seeing the title is gone:

-------------------------Howard-------------------------
---Brown--------Ferdinand------Silvestre--------Heinze---
--------------------------Keane-------------------------
--Ronaldo----------------------------------------Giggs---
------------------------Kleberson------------------------
-----------------Smith------------Saha------------------

Rooney needs a rest and RVN needs to find his form so drop him to the reserves.

From the MEN:

Roy Keane is walking a disciplinary tightrope ahead of Manchester United's must-win FA Cup semi-final.

The Reds' influential skipper is one yellow card away from a two-match ban and manager Sir Alex Ferguson must decide whether to keep him out of harm's way for Saturday's Premiership trip to Norwich.

The Millennium Stadium date with Newcastle is a week on Sunday and represents United's final chance to salvage some silverware from a campaign that has collapsed.

It leaves the 33-year-old Irishman needing to tread carefully in East Anglia after he picked up his ninth domestic booking of the campaign against Blackburn Rovers on Saturday for a 76th minute foul on Steven Reid.

A two-match suspension would kick in if Keane fell foul of referee Howard Webb on Saturday, because players get an extra game's punishment if they accumulate ten bookings before the second Saturday in April.

A ban would start seven days later, taking in the semi-final and the Premiership match at Everton on April 20.

However, if the Reds' skipper can survive at Carrow Road, then picks up a yellow card in the remainder of the season, he will only receive a warning from the FA and no suspension.

Giggs back sooner than expected?

Giggsy up and at 'em
Ryan Giggs is winning his fight to be fit for the FA Cup semi-final. Sir Alex Ferguson feared the worst when the winger limped out of Saturday's goalless draw with Blackburn after only six minutes with a hamstring injury. But United's most decorated player has made a good recovery and is line to play at Norwich on Saturday.

And don’t Norwich know it

‘Norwich City are still being bombarded with requests for tickets for Saturday's home clash with Manchester United – even though the game has been a sell-out for several weeks.

‘"Demand for this game has been absolutely massive," said City's director of sales and marketing Andrew Cullen. "We have had waiting lists for the games against Arsenal and Chelsea - but nothing like this. We are getting calls all the time and all we can do is put people on a waiting list – and see if there are any returns."

Fighting talk from Canaries

MANCHESTER United's weekend opponents Norwich City plan to give Fergie's men a rough ride this weekend.

The Reds travel down to East Anglia determined to wrestle back second place in the Barclays Premiership.

Arsenal are currently in that spot on goal difference - they travel to Middlesbrough on Saturday - and whoever finishes runner up will secure automatic qualification for the Champions League.

However, Canaries boss Nigel Worthington is promising a full-blooded performance at Carrow Road.

He said: "We've got to put our heads in where our feet should go and we need to show energy - that needs to come out in the next seven games.

"We've got to go out and be positive in our own minds and forget about the opposition. We look at it sometimes as if the other teams are the stars. But we've got to be the stars ourselves."

Norwich were hammered 4-1 last week by Arsenal and Worthington is promising an improved performance when the Reds arrive.

He added on the club's official website: "We were certainly too nice against Arsenal. We showed them too much respect. There were no tackles and no yellow cards. That's not football.

"You've hot to get in amontst teams. We will carry on playing football, but I'm talking about football - physical toughness and mental toughness."

Keep Roy out...don't want him missing the FA Cup semifinal. Let Phil play DM with Scholes and go 4-3-3 (or 4-4-2 if Fortune can play LW effectively). Rest Heinze, Gazza, and Ruud for Newcastle United. Might be good to rest Rio too and maybe give O'Shea a start at either CB or in CM (with Brown in CD and Phil at RB).
