Odion Ighalo: Manchester United player on loan until the end of the season

Well you can't even mention someone if they've never signed and never stepped foot in a Utd shirt

I actually don't mind Burley that much, but Marcotti is usually the only one you can rely on to talk sense. The worst is that Venezuelan guy (Alejandro....) Absolute clown.
I just find Burley always says the most obvious thing, he offers no real insight. Definitely agree about Alejandro. I also think the format of their show is awful, they're basically just supposed to shout at each other and cultivate arguments unnecessarily. I'm fairly sure their producers are in their ears just pushing them to keep arguing.

I liked Ighalo at Watford and felt he left for China too soon.

He's going to be a decent rotation player and impact sub to go more direct. Decent goalscoring record too for club and country.

However, the state of our club, scouting department and negotiators are awful. For us to sign a guy from China during a pandemic outbreak sums it up at the moment (not serious).

We probably pay thousands of salaries worldwide. To sign Ighalo..... That's quite alarming. Is there no young upcoming star that we could've been well positioned for? A long term centre forward target?
Disagree on this. I think it was a great bit of opportunism and they will be dozens of clubs over the next weeks and months kicking themselves for not tapping into China during this transfer window. The virus situation and the political policy u-turn on elite footballers (salaries are to be capped on new contracts) means there were a lot of good players to be had. United are probably just kicking themselves for not going after Carrasco and a few others sooner, but it is only in the last week that the league has been suspended.

Be nice to have a striker in the team who makes runs into areas strikers should be making and a bit of pressure on Martial to up his game.

Don’t know if it has been posted but

as underwhelmed as I am by this transfer I want him to do well. It’s always great to see lifelong fans fulfilling their dreams.

There is a difference between saying its not impressive because it is the Chinese league, and saying or implying that it's poor.
You are taking it totally out of context.

First I didn’t imply it’s poor, it’s just not good enough.

2nd, my main argument is refute the claim that Ighalo can match or outscore Martial or Greenwood, who had already scored 10-12 goals midway through the season. I use his record in Chinese league and last season in England to back up the claim. Being not able to outscore Martial/Greenwood doesn’t mean he is poor, it only means he is not good enough to start for first team over Martial/Greenwood.

So he's already here, out in the open in the airport. I'm amazed he hasn't gone into quarantine. He has even been tested for the virus? I've heard it can take up to 2 days to detect it.

Marcotti is a legend.

He's not come from wuhan.

It doesn't matter. The virus is in every region of the country and the government is advising against all travel to China. It's a bit reckless to not take any precautions and he won't even play for 2 weeks anyway.

He seems really happy and he genuinely wants to be here, I have no doubts the fans they will back him.

I’m sure he will give 110% every game he plays. I’m very much Looking forward to seeing him in action.

Heard he wasn’t even a starter for his chinese team recently, that they played two 32+ year old chinese/korean guys instead. Doesn’t sound too promising.

Here's hoping this is not true, because if it is, we are then well and truly screwed.

I'm sure if there was that much if a concern about where he's come from the authorities wouldn't allow him to walk around without a space suit on.

Hope this is not true. Its very depressing when we are so desperate for goals.

Any Chinese poster here can confirm?

Its funny how much everyone is doubting Ighalo's quality cos he went to play in China, nobody does with Carrasco.

Ighalo, like many others, went to China for the cash. Football is a short career and they were offered more money than any European club would ever pay them. Of course their heads were turned.

Until Ighalo's head went he did more than well for Watford in the Premier League. However, coming where he came from, supporting who he's supporting, Watford stopped him from getting a life changing amount of money. Its little wonder his level dropped in his third season for them, its also no surprise he eventually went to China in the winter break of 2016/17.

Considering we were supposedly looking at the likes of Josh King, I'm fine with us having ended up with Ighalo. He may not be Kun Aguero but he is not a competition winner. We have all seen him do it in the Premier League and, after last night, can anyone really pretend we don't need something different in attack?

Whatever you may think of him as a player, it's refreshing to see a player who really wants to play for us. You can really tell he's one of us.

After yesterday I really can’t see what harm this will do. It’s got to be worth giving him a run of games at CF, can’t be any worse!

I would try out Martial (AML), Ighalo (CF), Greenwood (AMR) and Fernandes (AMC) ahead of Fred and Matic

If you put things in context, influenza is just as contagious and far more deadly but you don't go testing everyone who arrives in a country to see if they've got the flu.

I hope he plays against Chelsea. Probably do better than that sulky Frenchman.

Thank goodness we have the winter break, I presume he’s going to be quarantined for 14 days...

Really pleased for him. He’s a loan signing, he’s not a first team player, but by all accounts to he’s going to give everything to the club for the next 5 months, which is a lot more than half of the current team.

I hope he does really well.

That depends on which strain of flu. You may be lucky and get a weaker one. Or, if you remember a few years back, there was a particularly lethal strain around the New York area which was tested and monitored. This is also why doctors recommend that everyone, no matter how healthy you are, gets an annual flu jab. Also, we still don't know everything about this new Corona virus hence more precautions are necessary. We do know, however, where it originated from so it is sensible to limit and monitor travel from there.

Well it would certainly be more reassuring if we knew he had been tested for it.

He looks like a proper centre forward who actually busts a gut to get into the penalty box . When was the last time we had one of those ?

Just did a bit of googling after that comment about him not being a starter for his Chinese club and it looks like was a regular starter.

However, he's their second top scorer behind a 33 year-old midfielder and he's the main pen taker too it seems. I don't know the context behind everything but at first glance, doesn't seem very impressive.
