bird in the hand?.. I get that, though he has only played what 6 or so games. Hardly proved himself as indispensable. Now if his team back down and we can get him at reasonable cost then sure why not, but he really shouldnot be that hard to replace and maybe even upgrade on for a club of our stature.
His loan deal expires this week. When or how the Chinese season will restart is totally irrelevant.
I hope not, I didn't expect much from Ighalo (not even a single goal) but he's gone well beyond those expectations.
Sad to see him go. Had a chance to join his favourite team and this shite happens. Shame it can’t be extended given the circumstances. I hope to see him again next to be honest. He’s a welcome addition and not expensive.

I really don’t want us to waste money on Joshua King. We should set our standards higher than him to be honest. Plus he does not offer much else than we already have. Ighalo was a different type of striker and his hold up play was great.

I'm aware when his deal expires, understanding the situation in China provides a more rounded view on time factors that could have seen him stay for longer.
i am really bummed to see him go. What a short impactful stint he had with the club.

Really disappointing if he does, especially if he can't even get to finish the season with us.

I've been very impressed with him in such a short space of time, he seems to have fitted in superbly with the club, his team mates and the fans. If it was up to me to I would get him in at £20 million, provided he would accept the salary on offer, and a two year contract He's a player who would sit on the bench for a certain amount of games, and appears to be totally committed to the club, and in two years time, who knows, Haaland may be available.
Hard not to like Ighalo, it's clear he's living a dream to play for United and has worked his ass off to get fit and show what he's capable of. If option B is to bring in Josh King then I think the extra money should be spent to keep Ighalo
Good luck for him. Didn't want him from the start but he did proved me wrong in the few matches he played, and was actually looking forward to start seeing more from him. Can't be helped though, and the Chinese club has the right to want him help them in their competition. Wish the best for him.
He’s a bang average player and we’d be mental to spend £20m on him for two years. We’d effectively be spending over £300k a week for an average back up. He’s a dime a dozen player who could be bought for far cheaper.
The problem here is that Chinese domestic season is about to start, unlike those out of contract players that I think you might be referring to.
He's a likeable player that did his job well - filling in for Martial against lower oppositions. I always thought we would need a better back up if we want to compete
Neither, by the sound of things. Looks as if Shanghai Shenhua wouldn't agree a further loan deal, simple as that.

a decent no. 9, who is happy with being a squad players for a couple of seasons, who can slot on and out when required, has premier league experience and has the right mentality for the role.

I would rather spend £20 million on Ighalo, who maybe bang average, (he's looked a bit better than bang average since he's been at United), but he fits in perfectly with what United want and need, than a player who would need time to integrate in a possible shortened summer break, may want to be number one striker, and could take a season or more to get used to the EPL. I would take bang average if he continues to score goals. If United can get him for half that fee, then I think that's a no brainer for me. All this may be irrelevant if he does go back to China.

A shame. This would mean an additional investment to be looked at. Already when other positions are of critical nature. If we don't get in an another striker and if Rashford and/or Martial get injured, we have had it. Ighalo slotted in perfectly and was the right person at the right time. Hope something can be worked out.
It’s unfortunate that his fairytale was cut short but Rashford will be starting our next match, whenever that is.
Disappointed for the man that his fairytale has been curtailed like this. Did everything that was required of him so far and then some. Quite refreshing to see a man so in love for the club playing for us.

His huge wage just makes the deal very difficult. The Chinese clearly won't give him up easily and are offering a payrise - at least he can say he WAS a Man United player and did very well. Shame it was cut short as he was looking to have a great end to the season.
It doesn't work that way. He's been here and we know he fits the team extremely well.
We've all learned by now the latest shiny toy doesn't always translate into a good Manchester United player. It could be difficult to find somebody who fits his role in the team.

That's weird because I recall Ighalo having an actual meaningful impact here. Unlike what a bang average player would have.
He scored a few times against lower league opposition who we destroyed. Exactly what a bang average player would do, one that doesn’t cost over £300k a week.
It was a desperate last second January transfer window deal. I doubt the club saw it as anything more than a quick fix till the end of the season. It's a shame that he won't even get that, but it was never going to be anything more.
