Official: Pellegrini to leave/ Pep to join Man City

I find it strange when people talk about how they have shown proper planning and stuff, they have good attacking talent but their squad still is very weak when it comes to top European standards. The premier league is absolutely shite and you can get away with just having big players in the attacking area but if Pep wants them to play his style then they will need a major overhaul.

Depressing stuff. We're going in the complete opposite direction to these lot.

I welcome Pep to Premier League but why on earth it must be City of all teams?! Like things aren't bad enough for is already.

Yes, we can sweeten it up a bit with a hope that he'll fail but come on - how probable is that? he has pretty much unlimited funds and City has always pulled off major transfers.

i really hope we'll go for Jose. But as I've said earlier, you just know that it's not going to happen.

Just to add to the earlier post if they had actually built a great squad then they would have not allowed Chelsea to shit their way to the league last season and would have been running away with the league this season as well but they are below Leicester for a reason.

We have the most insecure fans in England as our fanbase.
Fact. This reaction is unbelievable.

Still pissed about this. Had we been aggressive and made it our business to get him at all costs - the probability of him joining us would have been higher. Absolute state of us.

In any case, he's obviously not as classy as I thought - rocking up at Citeh ffs!

Can't wait for him to experience a cold windy night in Stoke when his pretty football gets smashed! I hope...:(

Don't worry guys. We'll be fine. Apparently Pot Noodle want to sponsor us.

I could never accept Hughes as United manager. He's become a very bitter man, ever since he managed those bitters.

Yep, he shouldn't even be an option.
Agreed.

Can't blame them really. There's not much going on in our club these days which would make fans feel secure about the direction the club is going.

City are a soulless cash automaton and illogically heartless for pointing out in their official statement that Pelegrini was only ever their second choice, but there will be no more nil nils away at Villa, 4-1 losses at home to Liverpool or even 2-2 aways at West Ham. If the PL is as nearly open next season as it has been this, they'll already be 10 points ahead. We'll need a points getting machine to hope to keep up.

Guardiola will take 1 summer to bring in the players to take that side to the next level(you know the negotiations would have had a guarantees transfer budget), the PL will be gone for us and likely City will be able to elevate themselves to turn the big 3 in Europe into the big 4.

Really struggling to see what United can do to counter this shift now. Football wise, we're behind City in every single department, and the gap is growing, not shrinking. Genuinely alarming stuff.

Half insecure, the other half fecking deluded if that's the case.
Yes. Every time City appoint a big name manager, some people actually expect them to win the sextuple. Pep is obviously a decent manager, but the ones who overrate him probably read Goal.com every day.

Brilliant move for them, they've been planning it carefully and they did well to.

Absolutely gutted though.

This is the difference between clubs who plan ahead for managers (Bayern, MCFC) and clubs who react and then make panic decisions (MUFC).
I really do hope we are signing up Mourinho. I don't want us to panic in the Summer, when he is unavailable or has other offers, for us to then panic into hiring a mid table manager or worst still a trainee.

And now the dominos start to fall. I expect LVG leaving in the summer to be one to follow.

And we get to now see Pep make a fool of Mourinho first hand :dead:

I'm not saying Pep is the messiah and that City team isn't exactly need of a big overhaul...so, he'll undoubtedly have plenty of success at City. Whereas United, still require a lot of rebuilding (far too much when you consider the money that has been spent in the last 3 years).

But, as I said...this is about incompetence and the hole Fergie put us in by recommending Gollum. We are yet to recover from that disaster.

Have they ever had a proper big name manager? Mancini and Pellegrini are good managers who have had success elsewhere but hardly in the big name bracket.

Pep became available, and City went for him. How much planning was needed for that? Unless you mean City expected this day to come when they appointed Pelli 3 years ago

Lets hope the board has a plan. We need to be calm and collective. Just focus on how to improve on our deficiencies and rather not focus too much on others.

If we set up our club right and appoint the right manager, we'll be fine. It wont be a walk in the park for Pep and City despite him being a great manager.

Pep has a lot of pulling power, so I can see many top players going to City

Some of the reactions are over the top and we don't know how well Pep will do, but people are right to be concerned. Since Ferguson retired we've won a Charity Shield and finished fourth- that's the sum total of our 'success' in two and half seasons. This year we've crashed out of a weak Champions League group and have shown nothing to suggest we'll be winning any trophies. As well as that, we're in a scrap to make top 4 and if anything we've gone backwards with regards to our play. Big decisions have to be made this summer.

That's it for us now anyways. We'll become the Liverpool of the last 20 years. Didn't take long for Fergies empire to crumble now either.Indeed it could be said that it was Fergie himself that gave the foundations the first rap of the loading bucket.

Unbelievable what has happened or is continueing to happen. The clowns that had the power to prevent it should be brought out and shot.

Not a big surprise. I had doubts that either City or Pep could keep a lid on this before the end of the season, we live in a different age where information is difficult to keep secret for very long.

I wonder the impact it will have on both Bayern & City but also what sort of speculation will now begin about player movements. Even if Pep is officially to take over on July 1, gotta think Txiki & him are already planning for recruitments

Great news. :D
How do you feel about this being announced now? City are still competing for four trophies but now the players know they get a fresh start next season. I know they will still want to win but I don't see how this announcement helps Pellegrini for the games he has left.

We had deficiencies in our squad atm, and yet not a single player has been brought not even an extra fullback or defencive cover, no additional striker.

We appear to be running on hopes and dreams and not doing anything to solve our issues.

They could win the league with their squad as it is, and Pelligrini in charge. Pep is a far better manager and the one players most want to play under. It's not as hard you make it sound.

Pep has a specific style though and this City team has a problem winning back to back leagues.

Their CMs get found out against anybody half decent especially in Europe.

So you think they don't need a rebuilt? Pep has had world class CMs and fullbacks wherever he has been. At City he won't even have one. Yaya was world class.

Guess Nasri can start packing his bags

Those press conferences will be wonderful to listen to

Pep is boring as feck in his managerial choices so far. Bayern and Man City, two clubs which you're basically guaranteed a trophy with.
Pep is like my mates in Fifa, always picking top tier teams. Doesn't he want a real challenege?

Have they ever had a proper big name manager? Mancini and Pellegrini are good managers who have had success elsewhere but hardly in the big name bracket.
That's fair enough, he is bigger than those two right now. But people are putting too much emphasis on the manager, just like how they tend to put the lions share of the blame on LVG instead of the players, some of which who underperformed for two managers in a row now. We will see next year how he imposes his philosophy and style on english football.. but by no means do I see the CL as a certainty for him.

There are no guarantee's in football but City have to be big favourites for PL domination over the next 3 years. The most frustrating thing is how much things have changed since 2008...

We were so far ahead of them in every possible way.
