Official: Pellegrini to leave/ Pep to join Man City

You can trace all of this back to when the Glazers took over...

Years of underfunding player reinforcements, years of leeching from the club, which largely went under the radar to most fans as it was shrouded by success, and now its starting to come home to roost...

If we'd strengthened from a postion of power, as we should've done, then we'd still have a team capable of playing attractive football...but instead, we replaced Ronaldo and Tevez with the likes of Obertan, Valencia and Michael fecking Owen...that in itself speaks volumes...

People here acting like Pep is actually Jesus. Calm your hysteria. World class managers take over other teams all the time. We don't sit and cry that those teams will win the treble every year. LVG came here and couldn't do it, Klopp went to Liverpool and everyone cried and look he's not doing too well. Mourinho who wins everything everywhere he goes came back to Chelsea and look where they are. This assumption that because a manager moved teams that team will win everything for the next 10 years is so hysterical. I think people are just sad he didn't come here, when it looked pretty clear the entire time that he wasn't going to anyway given that he passed on the chance to manage us the first time.

I'm just thrilled I get to hear his press conferences in a language I can understand after Germany. I've missed Pep, should make the Premiership very interesting next season

We had deficiencies in our squad atm, and yet not a single player has been brought not even an extra fullback or defencive cover, no additional striker.

We appear to be running on hopes and dreams and not doing anything to solve our issues.
I'd like if the holes were addressed promptly too. But lets be realistic here, who is available, and at the standard required? Our transfer activity depends on the manager's preference or final say, a man who I believe is counting his last days as the manager. I'd say rather we are acting calmly.

Things would have been smoother if coaches were just coaches and man in high tower in suit would be the football director.

I don't really care that he's gone to City, but the only plausible reason for us not sacking LvG was if we were waiting to get Pep in the summer. This is just confirmation that the board are a bunch of idiots.

Pep has a specific style though and this City team has a problem winning back to back leagues.

Their CMs get found out against anybody half decent especially in Europe.

So you think they don't need a rebuilt? Pep has had world class CMs and fullbacks wherever he has been. At City he won't even have one. Yaya was world class.
He will buy whoever he wants unchallenged. No trouble.

Oh God I forgot this means @FCBarca is going to become insufferable with all things relating to City now.
Pep became available, and City went for him. How much planning was needed for that? Unless you mean City expected this day to come when they appointed Pelli 3 years ago
To a certain extent, a bit, yeah. In their statement they talk about negotiations that were ended in 2012, maybe during those negotiations certain conditions were laid out? Appointing Txiki and Soriano feels like they were paving the way to Pep joining them.

Why care about Guardiola though? The White Pele will shit on their team and will stay with us till Pep leaves. Happy days.

On a serious note though, United need huge investements in the squad, particularly in new forwards if a liverpool scenario is to be avoided.

What LVG has done with our attacking line is criminal. Rooney breaking the record has been prioritized over United winning big tropheys. Stupid.

This should be quite interesting. This really should represent the first proper challenge Pep has taken on; Barcelona had the foundations for one of the best club sides of all-time, and it is practically impossible to go to Bayern and not win trophies.

Obviously it is bad news for United. Just hope that between ourselves, Arsenal and Chelsea that we can get firing on all cylinders (as well as the other top-8ish teams) to make sure he doesnt have it easy.

Don't think anyone can be too surprised by this, they have basically been lining him up for two straight years. It's a huge statement from City and one that unfortunately looks like City could go on and dominate English football for the next few years.

Only question I have and will remain to have with Pep is does he need world class players for his methods to work and does he know this? Seems to back away from the squads that are good but lacking in world class talent and personally think he knows his philosophy can only work at the very highest level in football.

Yea i am hiding behind the sofa as we speak you fecking retarded cnut CH,suck a cock you bunch of ABUs.

We should maybe consider Pellegrini ? I know people would hate the idea, but his teams play attacking football and he does give youth a chance.

Apart from him, it's Jose really with maybe Blanc and Poch as outside shots. Unless Woody decides to stick with LvG.

Has anybody thought of the other possibility, that LVG stays

Every big signing will be linked to City: Pogba, Veratti, Dybala, Laporte

I actually think Neymar won't be linked like most might imagine, Pep won't go mining for Barcelona players unless they are unsettled

I think this is the most concerning part of the Pep signing. He brings a lot of pulling power to the table. For the first time I think we can say that City would be a more exciting proposition for a player over us.

Not really but I don't want to derail the thread with off topic given the amount of DoF / what's wrong with the board / club threads. :)
My point being that the head coach/manager still picks the teams and holds the pressers.

Charles Nicholas or whatever his true name is,just said on SSN how Manchester United fans must be hiding behind their sofas right now (regarding Pep going to CitY),then that moron who would suck SAF`s dick whole year without pause Holloway started with some digs at us and how Pep is this and that, like he has IQ to even understand Pep`s work...

I reckon the Caf will come to a grinding hault when(imo) Jose signs with another team and not Utd.

I certainly will be flabbergasted if that happens...for a 2nd time (I thought was going to take over Fergie).

His loss, he could have been manager of a real football club.

Another RAWKish statement.. I very much doubt at this moment City fans care about the size difference between both clubs. The fact of the matter is they are heading in the right direction whilst we are quickly heading south.

What are the chances / odds of Bayern drawing City in the CL soon?

The most likely scenario, by a long way. It's not long ago we were talking about extending LVG's contract.
I think it's the same for LvG as it was for moyes. Mathematically, if he loses top 4 or 3, he will be out no matter what.

OK Cheers.

Yes but do you give a feck about City really? Id rather listen to one person talking about a solution than a million wankers all crying because some other club got a new manager. Who gives a feck. It doesnt change where we are. This is a man utd forum and everyone is crying into their cornflakes because the crush they had turned out to want someone else. Boohoo

I'd even wager Txiki already has a shopping list. City will see a dramatic makeover of their squad
