Naa mate I'm in the Ole camp. My post was about making it official. I'm actually enjoying watching United play and its plain as day the Galactico strategy and high profile managerial appointments isnt the way to go foward.

I want Ole to be out next manager but we should just wait till end of the season. There is no reason to hurry, he is here till end of the season and he is ManUtd fan and will take the job without even thinking. So we don't have to worry about someone else offering him the job.

Agreed. It's something I find intrinsically Manchester United, I'm not a fan of the galactico approach at all. One of the reasons I'm excited about the summer is because I want us to mop up some of the young talent in and around Europe to see what Ole can do with it. I'd love De Ligt, Joao Felix, Chong, Gomes and Greenwood in the first team next year, dream come true.
What's the rush? Ole knows the deal: impress and there's a good chance he'll get the gig permanently. I doubt he'll be offended if he doesn't get offered a five year contract before a ball has been kicked against PSG.
He's done brilliantly, nobody denies it, but there really doesn't seem to be any very good reason for rushing the decision.
The smart move would be to keep monitoring his progress while working on alternatives in the event that the season doesn't end as well as we all hope it will.

One of the biggest mistakes people make when dating an amazing person, is that they will stick around regardless. Even when you're looking over at other people and wondering what it might like to be with them, you presume they'll stay because why not, right?
We have a vacant post, it appears Solskjaer has applied for that post seeing as he's met with Woody to discuss long term plans for the club, at this point, we don't even know if anyone else has applied for the position. Usually, what happens with major corporations and head hunting is the company will let it known that there is a vacant post and they would like you to consider an application, it's then down to you to make that application and show you want it. If we've approached Pochettino's people and he doesn't declare an interest to us, it's a non starter anyway.

I agree and I'm rapidly moving into the Ole in forever camp, keep the search ongoing but with Ole at the top of the list of candidates.
I am sure he and his staff have intermediaries who answer questions put by media. He is a nice guy who won't do sneaky briefs like Jose, but I don't think he is totally divorced from press connections.
After all that Ole has done in such a short space of time I think it is amazing.

I'm not sure Poch would want the job right now. With all the positivity going on the downside for him would be immense. A few bad results and everyone would be screaming for Ole.
Can't remember where I read it but SAF would delegate his media responsibilities and Phelan would take the ones that weren't televised. Would be surprised if this wasn't the case now as well.
I think even if he wanted to, he would be entirely voted down by a majority of the board on this. Fergie and Charlton would obviously want Solskjaer, the Glazier's will look at the release clause of current candidates (Pochettino £40m, Solskjaer £8m, Zidane £0m but big wages) and they'll vote with that in mind and how the team is performing currently. There wouldn't literally only be Woody fighting Zidane's corner at this rate.
I guess the longer we wait the more chance there is of the speculation unsettling the team. He's being asked the question pretty much every week now, it will only get worse towards the end of the season. It's never a good situation when players don't know the future of their manager.

Not sure it's Ole's camp but it started last week when there were rumblings about Ole getting the job permanently.
Last week we had influential current squad players coming out in support of Ole, talking about how great of a manager he is and how good of a job he's done.

All signs point to the United press room laying the foundations for his permanent appointment. They wouldn't be going on this charm offensive if he was to be canned in the summer. Benitez and Hiddink never got anything like this at Chelsea before they were let go.
I don't think Ole plays those games. He happily answers questions after the press conferences are finished. You see him doing it as the camera come off. Crucially however everything he says is on the record.

Ole is not going to mount a hands free briefing campaign to big himself up to try and secure the manager's job. He knows at United actions speak a lot louder than words.
How many times has Solbakken, his agent, even been seen in Manchester lately? Ole's just not the type for that stuff. He's as old school as the class of 92. He doesn't need to be whispering in Simon Stone's ear to get good press.
If anything these pieces are more likely being done at the behest of the board so that, if its true they have decided to give him the job, nobody questions the appointment.

MUTV would never be allowed to do this if there wasn't strong support from Ed Woodward.

Or that we have the media team firing out videos of Pogba and Rashford with Solskjaer voiceovers? Or the official twitter account retweeting every single video of Ole's at the wheel that it can find?
Get a proper DOF in, Berta for example and I think he could really do the business here. He definitely has core beliefs in what he expects of players, from getting the best out of what we have now and not rotating the CMs, he knows what he wants. If someone with a keen eye for that and foresight to plan for the future, we could be on to a winning combo.

If he was a random caretaker who turned out better than anyone had hoped for and he was starting to get linked with other jobs – then yes. But that really isn’t the case here.

There's no rush to make this official, Ole certainly isnt going to walk away because he isnt getting the recognition he feels he deserves or anything like that. But uncertainty is rarely helpful in football and I dont think it would be a bad thing to tie this down in the next few weeks, assuming things continue as they are. If anything I could see it giving the players another little lift which could be helpful in the final stages of the season.

Solskjær isn't as hard to pronounce as many Brits make it sound either.
Sol= like Sol (Campbell) but pronounce the 'o' more like how you do in boot.
Skjær = pretty close to the English word "share". No k-sound.

Well, dane here, but it's a common name in Denmark as well. It's not Ola. It's Ole and the O is almost pronounced as if there were two or three of them.
