There's a lot of truths in what you have said, but Old Trafford now is two parts, the owners and ED and then the manager and players. It's a dis-jointed affair.
For most of Fergies reign Old Trafford was a fortress but since the Glaziers have been the owners the fortress has disintegrated, and it started even whilst Fergy was in charge, and also not helped by Moy's getting rid of a lot of the experienced back ground staff.
The disconnect within the club is not helped by the inexperience and lack of charisma from the CEO and we have found ourselves in a position where top players are not accessable to the club because they would rather play at liverpool or Man city or on the continent. The Glaziers have put the money in, but if you look at the accounts they have indebted the club and took more than a handsome share of the profits. For them its mainly about shirt sales and Ed gives them that but not much else.
I get the feeling that Oly could bring back the fortress feeling but he has got to be backed up and I dont think Ed is the right man for the job, but the director of footbal might resolve that, or could possibly clash with Oly if not the right person.
I take your point about there not being many good players available in January but thought if they could have bought a good player it would show they were willing to support Oly and also help in getting into europe next year.
I like and respect Oly, he has always been a favourite at the club for good reason and it wasnt just his football. He is special in many ways. We are all aware of previous popular players turning into not so good managers but I think it will be different with Oly.
If you haven't already, read his interview with Sky sports. The guy just gets the club and says all the right things completely.

Any fan (incl most opposition fans) can see the change in vibe in our players and in the way we play football. I don't have any clue how this is due to Ole's interviews. Surely that is a bizarre accusation to make?
Even if we are defending, we are doing it better as a team than we ever did under Mou. The players may be up against the wall, but the look for a quick counter is always there. Not just dumb passing under Mou.

We've definitely changed the way we play, but old habits die hard so there are still concentration issues/conceding easy chances, hopefully they'll be ironed out over time.

There are still pundits/media types and oppo fans saying this. It's nonsense. Ole himself talked about his dislike of sideways passing, for one, and that was an integral part of Jose's and LVG's style of play.

Even though the results are good but we started to show cracked in our play. The first few games with Ole in charge we played brilliant attacking football.
Now the worry is creeping back and there were many phases of play in games for long period we can't even string 2 passes together.
This is a test for Ole to motivate the team to play like the first few games.

Astonishing really considering Mourinho was supposed to be about counter attacking football. Kind of knew the writing was on the wall when we hardly scored any goals from counter attacks (and that was from the start with Mourinho).

Always liked players like Kompany and Milner off the pitch despite the rivalry. Aguero was in that list, too, but he's had displays of cuntishness that cannot be excused. Sure opponents say that about Mata, too.
Well, I used to look forward to a game hoping to win, now I look forward to a game expecting to win.

If we had beaten Burnley, we'd be right in there for the title race with both Liverpool and City to come at home. Ole's doing an amazing job so far.

We would have been at 12 pts. Should we beat Liverpool, then 9 pts. It would not be too bad... maybe not enough, but it would have been more than just influencing.

Games against 3 out of 4 of your rivals at home yet to come is a good thing if you're chasing them for the title. It means if we're good we can guarantee City, Liverpool, and Chelsea dropping points on the weeks we gain 3. Thats on top of the games those teams have yet to play against each other where more points will be dropped.
Not that I think we're really in a title race cos I don't think we have enough quality in our squad yet but we're not far off. But the point is, having more big games coming up than your opponents is a good thing not a bad one.
Ole has so far exuded class in everything he's said and done. Wish he'd get some nastiness back in our major rivalries of course, specially in light of that Pogba-Salah pic, which I don't think we'd have seen under Fergie.
Well, should the dippers drop points against Bournemouth, we'd be within single digits of them after we beat them. City as well, if we beat them. The other aspect is the "fear factor" that we regain if we beat these teams. Counts for a lot, even against other sides - when they sort of get onto the field just hoping that we have an off-day rather than expecting they can get something if they play well. Also, it'll help us in our Cup runs. Oh and yeah, I said in the summer that we had the second-best squad in the league. Jose's gaslighting and our awful performances saw me mocked a fair bit, but we're now showing that.
We won't challenge for the title barring collapses for the top 3 (since we've already played Spurs), but I really do think we'd have been in the mix even if we'd sacked Jose just 4-5 weeks before we finally did.

The media is indeed loving him. There was a piece a few days ago (CBA searching for it) where they spoke about how his treatment of press corps is a refreshing change from how Jose treated them and how he smiles and greets everyone (basic courtesy, you'd have assumed, but then look at Norbert and Jose...) and that this earns him friends.Did not see this posted and thought it was pretty decent. On the team selections, you'd expect this to be basic level manager-stuff. Identify the games coming up and plan your rotation accordingly. Most Fantasy players do this with their teams and even fan forums see threads speculating on when and who will be rested etc. keeping in mind upcoming games. Am a huge Ole fan and really do want him to get the full-time gig of course, so I hope that all his planning pays off!
True, but before and after the Burnely game there was quite a lot of moaning here about the team selection, and some even suggested he picked his team willy-nilly and that he was too "nice and soft" by playing squad players
Yeah - found that funny TBH. He has been intelligent and hasn't been at all haphazard or random. Can't help the fact that there's a steep drop between first-XI and the current bench, specially in MF. That said, he picked the right game and we just had an off-day compounded by some poor misses and individual errors. Can happen and does indeed happen to the best of them (and I hope Ole is soon in that echelon!). It's happened under SAF too. He was the expert at rotation - but we still we lost games at times, sometimes to rank minnows. The big picture is what we should look at when judging. Else we'd have been calling for SAF's head after the 6-1! Right now it's 9-1-0.
100% about the romance of football and long may it continue. All I guess I'm saying is it's an unusual set of circumstances at a time when there was less pressure (always is a degree pressure at this club) but we were out the top 4, drawn PSG, drawn Arsenal in the club and like most, the goal was to enjoy watching us again and not the results as such. Ole's achieved that but in doing so, the expectation is now on the rise given the results that came with. I'm now looking at the performance and the result. That said, I'm parking the emotion and being pragmatic about it given Ole is a victim of his initial success and this means the honeymoon is kind of over. From this position if we don't make top 4, and are out all the cups, the good feel factor will feel different. Not apportioning blame, the issues we're here long before he came.
I think someone like Poch is an unbelievable manager and right up there with Pep. What he's achieved with that Spurs team and in fairness, teams before it shows his pedigree. That said, I really hope he gets it as it's these type of appointments that separates us from other clubs in the same way we have a potential 100m striker that's been here since he was a boy.

They say it takes 16 days to change a habit so let's hope the same comes to games, we are now getting used to winning and beeing winners so I strongly belive Ole is the right man, why? Money can't buy love like beetles sung and its true stop being so over analyzing its all LOVE.
