Our Rivals Squad next year - Arsenal

He's preparing for pre-season, he's doing his pre pre-season and is up and running. Hopefully he has a big pre-season as he is due to break out and make a starting position his own.

Can you see him edging Walcott out of the first team with Sanchez probably occupying the other flank?

Yeah, I believe he has the potential to become one of the best players in the league. Depending on who else we buy, I see Walcott getting games up-front so that will leave a flank open to - Ox, Gnabry, Podolski and maybe Campbell.

Though Wenger has mentioned many times that he sees the Ox as a midfielder, so who knows where he will end up?

Typical will they wont they season for arsenal, have a chance to fill the gaps in their squad with quality and spend the cash they claim they can splash but will they? sanchez was a brilliant signing and debuchy's solid so its down to their board to actually build upon whats been a good few weeks. More importantly though can their top players stay fit? plenty of evidence to the contrary which leads me to believe they wont mount a proper challenge, wait and see time.

Probably their most important signing of the summer could be their new physio.

Does anyone else think Arsenal could win the league if they got a more cynical manager, like Mourinho or something? I mean, they have a brilliant midfield and attack, and a solid defence (recently), but they seem to slip up against certain teams due to a naive approach to the games. I think if they'd played a little less pretty, and a little more like pre Wenger/early Wenger they could have challenged a number of times in recent years, and in the years to come.

Im not sure about cynical, but pragmatic yes. Wenger at times seems to take the view that winning matters less than playing football the 'right way', even though most fans would say the 'right way' is winning.

Arsenal get regularly pummeled by other top sides. Surely it must be a mentality thing? That fragility means I can't see them winning the league.

How do people rate Ramsey in terms of assists and goals? Thinking of adding him to my fantasy team for the year ahead. Good idea?

Yes. He was ridiculous last year when he was fit.
I added him in the end. I knew he was brilliant last year, was just wondering how likely it would be for him to replicate his form into this season, and build on it.

I kind of want to see Sanchez up front through the middle.
--------------ramsey------------wilshire--------------

---walcott--------------sanchez-----------------ox---

Probably wont play like that but I think that would make for a very attacking and entertaining team.
players like flammini and giroud would no doubt make it more resiliant and tougher but id love to see Wenger give it a go and just attack with pacey forwards capable of switching positions. Id certainly make a point of catching all their cl games if they lined up like that

That team would get absolutely run over by the more physical/athletic sides like City or Chelsea in the PL as well as the elite sides in the CL. No cover for the back four.

Yeah... But they would play beautiful football in between getting smashed
 True

They absolutely need to sign a DM or it'll continue to happen. They'll smash all the bottom half sides as usual and get pummeled against sides with proper midfields and sides that won't allow them to do as they please.

I'm surprised by the Ospina rumours, I think he's already better than Szczesny but not THAT much better. What I find strange is that Arsène would bring in a potential #1 keeper after putting faith in Chesnuts for so long, when he's finally coming good.

He can score from anywhere, check out a compilation of his goals/assists from last season to confirm. The real question is can he keep that kind of form up.

If tackles equate to Fantasy points then he'd be a great bet.

Have you forgotten about Cazorla? I'd never start Ox ahead of him.

I think we will see the following formation (assuming Arsenal sign Khedira, otherwise swap him for Arteta/Flamini):

------------Wojciech------------
Debuchy--Merte--Kosc--Gibbs
--------Khedira-Ramsey-------
Walcott------Ozil------Cazorla-
-------------Alexis--------------

That's pretty lethal going forward and not a bad defence either.

It will be down to Wenger's willingness to show flexibility in tactics and strategy whether they are capable of beating the likes of Chelsea and City.

I'd replace Cazorla with Rosicky. He's much better at covering when the play breaks down and is better defensively. He's also one of Arsenal's better attacking players. Also I would move Alexis to the left and put Giroud up front.

I can see your point with Rosicky for Cazorla, but I think Rosicky is getting a bit old and I really do rate Cazorla (I think he is a magnificent little player).

As for Giroud. The sole reason I put Alexis there is to keep Giroud out of the team..

Sounds like a load of old cobblers to me. He's past it and will want big wages.
There is talk that if it happens that Madrid will pay part of his wages. Im not sure where he will end up though. He should go somewhere that he is guaranteed to be a starter and I don't know if arsenal can give him that.

QPR or maybe Fulham.

Why would they play Alexis up front? He has this habit of missing easy chances. Even though he scored a few goals last season, he also missed quite a few easy ones.

According to guillem balague wenger does not want kheidera or casillas. And he also he said that (surprise, surprise) the messi rumour was not true.

They're in advanced negotiations with William Carvalho of Sporting Lisbon. Does that rule out Schneiderlin?

They still need a GK and a striker too. Wenger should just take a quick look at Chelsea's forwards and realise that his team lacks in that department. Balotelli is not the solution and is more of a liability. Remy could've been a cheap and effective addition to the team. Goalkeeper wise, Im still astonished nobody wants to acquire Victor Valdes. I know he's coming off a serious injury but a world class keeper on a free is very tempting.

Just read that Callum Chambers is a done deal. Damn, Southampton are really letting go of everyone.
15 million for Chambers who played only 18 games is a 'great deal' for a 'great prospect' but shaw for 27 or 30 or whatever has been touted beggars belief...naturally.

Jury is still out. It's more that Arsene doesn't have time to naff about and has the money to improve weak areas now.
Wasn't he a headless chicken during the 8-2? That was three years ago. Clearly he isn't going to meet the quality of RB Arsenal are looking for in the future. Therefore, Chambers makes sense.
