PARK-A true unsung hero

I thought he was pretty poor overall, much better against Milan.

Crucial goal though and that what matters the most today ...

TBH i was a little disappointed with him (in the first half anyway) today but he got the winner so cant complain too much!

Not such a great start in the game but he improved significantly in the second half.

He is a very useful asset to us and it's about time he gained more respect. I think we should definitely allow him to roam and play centrally at times because he is replicating his form for South Korea. It's always nice to see him getting on the scoresheet, especially to win us an important game against the scouse. Well done, Park.

1st half to be honest he wasn't getting much joy finding space between Lucas and Masherano. Some of his touches weren't great either. Second half he got a lot better and the goal itself was very nicely taken.

Love his energy though. No matter how he's playing, he always gives 110%.

Yeah, the goal and some of his dribbles past the pool players and his tracking back.
I think he was one of the better performers today.

That's pretty much how I saw his performance today. Apparently I was wrong though and he was actually fantastic. I must book an appointment at the optician.

He was a bit loose with the ball in a tight match. But the goal sums up what he has this season which he lacked a bit of last season. That goal meant everything and changed a pretty good performance into a great one. He has that little bit more quality in the final third.

He was doing thing like body turns and feints and even a nutmeg

He's always been good on the ball. But put yourself in his shoes when Ronaldo's on the pitch. Better to keep it simple so you don't look stupid in comparison and/or upset the delicate sensibilities of your team's marquee player.

I thought he was poor in the first-half.

Very good in the second though and has a great habit of scoring in big games. Fantastic signing and quality wee footballer. He's been a really important player for us this season.

He's now scored against Milan, Arsenal and Liverpool this season

Big game player...needs to find his scoring boots against the smaller teams.

He was a bit average at the first half and I honestly do think if he had not scored he would have been taken off for Giggs. But luckily for him and us there was no need.

His movement all game caused them problems and he was on the end of most of our chances. Some of his passes etc didn't come off first half, but he was very good 2nd half and other than the goal, the slipped through ball to Rooney (called offside) was exceptional.

He did his job. We can't ask for more.

Personally I'm hoping for more. At least until football writers stop referring to his goals as coming from an 'unlikely' source. Not as much for Park's sake as much as to see writers of said ilk scurry to jump aboard the Park-praising band-wagon. We haven't had any good band-wagon jumping in the media since Rooney's resurgence.

Going back a few days...
...

The thing is, I wasn't even criticizing Park just now. There were plenty of good things he did when he came on, why not praise him for those instead of praising him for pulling off something simple like using the outside of his foot.
...

I think that people are pointing out this part to you remembering the following part of your Anti-Park tirade...

... His dribbling is poor. His crossing is poor...

...What annoys me about our fans though is the way Park is lauded for his workman like approach to the game, despite not possessing an ounce of the talent Nani does...

... Then a minute into the second half he [Nani] does something that Park could only dream of. An inch perfect pass with the outside of his foot to setup Rooney's second goal and put us in the comfort zone...

This was supposed to emphasise how 'limited' Park is and how superior in terms of Logan-adorability Nani is.

Park managed to envisage and execute just such a pass - arguably, into a tighter space. He also got an assist with a cross when his colleague hit the target.

NB - this was a remark you made in the more considered (explanatory) phase of your remarks - not the 'over the top' (your phrase) early remarks that you apparently also made when perfectly calm and rational.

That was a fearless header, *vaguely* reminded me of Ronaldo's header against Roma. South Park bleeded for that goal, too.

:boring:

You really are very tedious. To compare Park's outside of the foot cross with Nani's is ridiculous. One is something you expect most players to be able to do, the other was one that very few players can do.

It was nothing like Ronaldo's against Roma. Do you mean Ronaldo's against Sporting?

You should read SAF's post match interview about what kind of role Park carries out in the team and just how vital he is to us in the big games.

I think I've made it abundantly clear at least 17 times how important I think Park is in the big games. You should probably read the thread before telling me what I should read.
