I'm waiting on Howard Nurse to confirm this before I unchain my inner muppet, who hasn't seen sunlight in a week and I can hear his moans. Hold on, little one. Hold on. Nurse is coming through.

Read somewhere, Adidas keep all profits from shirt sales. So really, Utd make nothing back in shirt sales from Pogba
It's been said before, but even if we got all the profits from Pogba shirt sales, that would be a tiny drop in the bucket of what he brings commercially to United. He comes to United, he becomes the new face of the club. Rooney's career is winding down, Zlatan is only here for another year. Rashford and Martial seem pretty quiet. United need someone that sponsors will be excited about having their face all over their product. He will attract new sponsors, as well as increase the renewal fees for current sponsors.

He is also one that is starting to get in with celebrities and superstar US athletes, and I see this to continue and grow, especially with the publicity that he'll get over being the most expensive footballer ever. Adidas will likely also get him to events in future off-seasons with other stars of theirs, have them all start hanging out, following each other on social media, etc. All of that raises the profile of Pogba and United. He can also become the first football/soccer player to really appeal to the urban youth in the US. He's already considered one of the most marketable athletes in the world, and when you add in United's marketing pull, the commercial possibilities are endless.

Make no mistake, as much as we want a great midfielder like Scholes on the field, we wouldn't be splashing 100m on him if he was like Scholes off the field (i.e., quiet, reserved, almost a homebody, etc.--all things that we loved about Scholes, but not things that marketing people in modern football would have loved).

I still can't get over the Di Culo thing on Juventuz. I mean how sure of themselves and full of contempt for United must they have been to create an ITK account to string United fans along without considering the possibility of a deal going through?

Poetic justice

How does me being from Norway affect Manchester United at all?

You know, giant clubs like MUFC have something we call a global fanbase, that means fans outside of the actual country the club is located in. You should try it sometime, it is great, it makes us able to poach players from other smaller clubs.
To be fair, Juventus have a LOT of fans from around the world. As a matter of fact, I don't know any Turin based Juve fans, just the ones from England, Hungary and Belgium.

There was no need for @zlatan_ish remark about your location though, it's personal and had nothing to do with your original post.

He is hurting right now.

When we have milked it completely, we need to make some cheese. The lad is french.

Nope, I don't think so.. not as much as before.

Who'd you'd choose between Rooney and Pogba? I'd probably use rashford (catchy names btw) rather than rooney

Whether you like it or not a Rooney shirt and Wayne Rooney is a made brand and will always be associated with Manchester United success. His merchendise and shirt will always be in demand.

If Pogba has the career we all feel he can have then ofcourse, he will be there too but he will take nothing away from the Rooney brand. You are fooling yoursel if you think otherwise.

Let's see in a fee mths time. This is not the thread for it

http://gianlucadimarzio.com/calciom...-trasferimento-di-pogba-al-manchester-united/

The most expensive transfer of the business of football history is about to be defined. The Juventus is ready to greet Paul Pogba , which in turn is going to return to Manchester United after four years at Juventus. A gain that's dramatic, when you consider that the French had arrived in Turin on a free transfer: after the agreement reached between the two clubs will be about 110 million gross collected by Juventus, with the figure that also includes component on mediation - ie commissions confidential agent, Mino Raiola.

The percentage of the sale of the player card will be borne by the United and all the details of the total cost of this operation will be announced on the historic statement that it will publish its own Juventus in the coming hours. The net figure will therefore be lower than the 110 million which has been discussed these days (which should therefore be just over 100), while the gross profit will be around right around 110 million - and so will exceed the cost of the Real madrid for Bale in 2013, one for Cristiano Ronaldo and also the very recent for Higuain. Latest details to file for Pogba at United are now only await the official announcement.

Di Marzio basically says that it's a matter of hours before we get a confirmation of the deal from Juventus.

Its about the costs

He's basically saying that Juventus will confirm tonight? Or is "the coming hours" Italian for in a few days? :p

Di Marzio reporting that we're playing €110m, which includes Raiola's commission.

£92,691,927.87 according to Google. It includes the fee to Mino Raiola according to that text?

In short, Juventus are due to announce the sale this evening. Lovely.

Wow.. This is getting done.. We're almost there.. I posted probably about 250 pages ago about how I'm just gonna be neutral about this deal and if it pans out I'll enjoy it and if it didn't it won't hurt as bad as previous deals that fell through..

This really is happening.. Wow.. Great signing.

Congratulations to all the muppets who had a better steel to see this through and create a new thread record. My contribution of 9 posts including this one looks miniscule compared to the true warriors who made this record possible. You guys deserve as much credit and recognition as the club for making this deal possible. Take a bow!!

I absolutely enjoyed all the posts and this thread has been my sole source for all the news about this deal. That is not possible without your continued muppetry. Kudos and thanks!!

Bring on the season.

So Riola is getting around 10 m in agent fees from Juventus and 20% of the transfer fee from us?
fecking hell.

1/5 over at Coral. I am so fecking close to putting £1000 on that right now. I'm just terrified of jinxing it.

Meanwhile, back at United headquarters, Jose is relaxing after a day of hard training:

I don't think I even knew about that. Bizarre to risk looking as stupid as they do at the moment for such cheap and ultimately short-lived 'laughs'.

I wonder how those on the forum that were orginally so utterly convinced he was staying are now reacting.
