I thought Real Madrid were targeting Vidal?

I think they're just after a midfielder and have announced their presence in the market to see which agents, players, clubs respond. Since they got nervous about Gundogan they're put the job vacancy ads out again. I don't see why they'd buy more than one but as usual they're linked with about half a dozen.

Kroos and Vidal are getting a lot of mentions as well. There's also a rumour that Ancelotti is particularly keen to get a (physically) big player which I think is why William Carvalho is now being linked to them as well.

Mind you, they're like the Bogey Man, used by agents to scare other bidding clubs and force through contract negotiations.

Only a matter of time before Pogba ends up at Madrid or PSG........I'd say Madrid will get him as he would team up with Varane and Benzema......

Gundogan is a better player than Pogba right now when fit.......would be awesome if Gundogan sorted himself out and we then took a risk on him as on his day he is as good a box to box midfielder as you will find out there

Manchester United drop further into the dumps with each defeat under David Moyes and the performance at Goodison Park against his old club was one of the most concerning so far this season. It wasn't the worst display of a very poor campaign to date but showed that signs there had been some improvement recently were false shoots of hope. This Manchester United squad doesn't look like it wants to play for David Moyes and he doesn't look like he knows what to do about that.

It's a time to stick the boot in and the media and opposition fans are taking great joy in doing, they've waited so long for such an opportunity and had many false dawns of their own in that regard. Even some former players have come out and talked about the sorry state of Manchester United and Juventus' Paul Pogba could have twisted the knife.

He's the kind of player Manchester United need but, for whatever reason, they let him go. He was accused of moving for money but he's currently on far less than players such as Ashley Young and Phil Jones. In an interview with Bein Sports in France, Pogba refused to give a dig to his former employers and instead said "It is a difficult period for Manchester, but they can climb back up there."

Pogba has been linked with a return to Old Trafford and PSG but is concentrating on the end of the season with Juventus "Now I'm at Juve, I'm happy to be here and I'll finish the season here, haven't talked about a transfer or a contract renewal. Nothing has been started yet."

David Moyes could do much worse than look into the possibility of disrupting those contract negotiations before they start.

Would be a tremendous boost if Moyes could tempt him back with guaranteed first team football.

He's off to PSG. You won't pay the kind of dosh Juve would want.
You never really know. Didn't expect us to pay what we did for Mata either, but desperate times and all that. Don't expect it at all, but you can't rule it out because of how we did things in the past - very different times now.

Weird that he was reluctant to have a dig. He seems to love having a pop at United. He's a changed man. Sign him up.

Most of it seemed to be directed at Fergie and I didn't disagree with what he said. If I was Pogba and Fergie played Park and Rafael in CM while I was sat on the bench I'd probably look for a way out too.

I'm sure you can afford it but I don't think you'll want to shell out £30 million + for someone who left you on a free transfer less than years ago.

Yep 50 million should do it. Considering that we're reportedly willing to pay 30 million for a teenage left back and 35 million ? for Carvalho; it would make much sense to go the extra mile an grab the best up and coming midfielder in the market who's better and younger than Carvalho. I do feel Pogba would be willing to move back, he seems to have no issues with our club (he only moved because of the lack of playing time and disputes over that particular matter with Sir ALex). He genuinely seems to harbour some affection for United unlike say Tevez who has so much latent hatred. He's everything we need - pace, technique, stature, box to box ability and goals - lots of them. It might reflect poorly on us - signing a player for big money when we let him walk for free - but that's the way modern football works. Lots of players don't make it at big clubs initially - Mata, Negredo, Eto'o. But it can't be held against them or the club. He's just 21, on the brink of being world-class and could possibly spend a decade in our midfield. Even if he demands to move on in say 3-4 years we could demand Bale-esque money for him. Only thing is Real and PSG's interest makes me nervous.

As brilliant as he is I wouldn't want him back to be honest. Juventus has a very special role for their midfielders which isn't at all what we use. PSG uses their midfielders in a similar manner but even there Pogba needs to step up his possession game as PSG are keen on keeping possession.

We would have to change to a three man midfield to play him, Juventus found the perfect balance with him. Allowing him to attack when he has a chance with Vidal covering and the next attack Vidal attacks and Pogba covers.

He wouldn't want to return here. Pretty much nailed on to go to PSG. Nice to see him not stick the knife in though but like g4g said, his issues were mainly with Fergie.

He will stay at Juve next season according to his Agent.

Raiola:”Pogba will stay at Juve. I’ll meet with Marotta for the extension soon”

Juventus will continue with Paul Pogba. While the French midfielder is on the wish list of the main clubs in Europe, he will remain in Torino, this is what his agent Mino Raiola said in an interview with Calciomercato.com.

Raiola closed the door completely on the possibility of his client leaving Juve this summer:”I already met with (Juve director) Marotta and we’ll meet again soon to discuss the contractual renewal. There is no rush, Pogba is happy at Juve and he wants to remain in Torino for a long time. It’s clear that for a strong player like him it’s easy that there is a market but at the moment there isn’t this intention. There isn’t a dialogue with PSG or other teams: I repeat, we’ll meet soon to extend the eventual contract. I don’t understand for what reason you in Italy continue to tie Pogba to teams others that Juve: he’ll stay at Juve where he is very happy” This is exactly what Juve fans wanted to hear.

Or maybe not?

You couldn't make this shit up btw, well you could, because it almost definitely probably is:

Gazzetta dello Sport are one of the most famous European newspapers. Their big pink pages were printed on to the memory of many a young football fan in the UK whilst watching Gazzetta Football Italia, all those years ago!

Anyway, the newspaper seem to have taken leave of their senses on Thursday and say that Manchester United could be Paul Pogba's summer destination. They explain that PSG are up the financial creek and can't afford a move and that Pogba would prefer a transfer to the Premier League over the chance to go to Real Madrid.

This ignores the fact that Pogba has criticised Manchester United when given any opportunity over recent months, the last time being last week when he accused Manchester United of disrespect whilst raging at one of the world's biggest clubs in an interview. Sir Alex Ferguson has also thrown some critical comments toward Pogba in the past and is still very much part of the football club.

Gazzetta call the possibility a 'triumphant return', that's probably more than optimistic.

Added to that quite spiky hurdle are comments from Pogba's agent Mino Raiola toCalciomercato this week. Raiola said that Pogba wanted to stay in Turin and would be negotiating a new contract soon.

Can't see this one going anywhere but if it does it'll certainly be interesting.

The smart move would be to cash in on Vidal and use that money to secure Pogba to an extended contract (and his agent another pay day). They can then cash in on Pogba in a couple of years....

If they play their cards right they could get over 100million for the pair of them eventually...

Paul Pogba's agent has dismissed suggestions that the Juventus midfielder could be on his way to Paris Saint-Germain.

Midfielder Pogba has enjoyed a stellar second season with the Old Lady, and the 21-year-old is understood to be high on the wishlist of both PSG and Barcelona.

However, the France international's agent Mino Raiola is convinced he will not be leaving Turin this summer.

Raiola told Sky Sport Italia: "The player will not go to Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus considers him non-transferable. This is the important thing.

"I spoke with the club last week and they have reiterated that they don't want to sell Pogba. Paul is happy with this, then that's OK."

Pogba joined Juve in August 2012 after choosing not to sign a new contract at Manchester United.

They should keep both.

Kicker is saying that Conte wants to change his system. He sees Pogba as someone he can seel for great money to built that. Kicker is not Italian but they have their sources everywhere. Could be a price move by the agent to get clubs to pay more. If they would want to extend they would just do it like Klopp all of the sudden last year. Im not sure that he stays.

1 question. Would he qualify as a home grown player in England ?

Cheers !

Yes, I think so. He spent 2 years at a club in England before the age of 21 so I think that means he's eligible.

Thanks. Yeah just looked it up :

Paul Pogba at United 2009-2012

  • UEFA defines locally-trained or 'homegrown' players as those who, regardless of their nationality, have been trained by their club or by another club in the same national association for at least three years between the age of 15 and 21. Up to half of the locally-trained players must be from the club itself, with the others being either from the club itself or from other clubs in the same association.
Was curious because (it might be impossible) but makes more sense to pursue Pogba at 21 for say 50m over 27 yr old Vidal at approx. the same amount. Especially when he could add to the list of Jones, Januzaj, Evans, Rafael as one of the 8 homegrown players required.

He's already said in the past that he would never go back to man utd......maybe we could make him our highest paid player in history but City, psg and Chelsea will probably still be able to offer him a bigger salary that the highest we would offer....how we ever let him slip through the net!!!

What this now ?

The Independent understands it was Ferguson's apparent reluctance to believe in the Frenchman and give him the chance to demonstrate his talents in the first team that led him to feel antipathy towards the former manager.

...

No actual quotes about Pogba never wanting to move back in the future.

Only Buffon blabbing about United being blind.

Tonight it is Pogba vs Dæhli, France vs Norway. Dæhli has been out in Norwegian press saying this, before the game: "It must be one of the biggest mistakes they (United) have done. He's given Juventus a new dimension." "They (United) have talked about replacements in central midfield for years. When they have the perfect midfielder, they let him go."

He also has a lot of positive things to say about Pogba as a person, which I find interesting.

"I remember the first practice in my first try out at United. I was really nervous, but he took really good care of me. Pogba came over to me and said: play on my team! He was the best player and he got me to relax. He was a fantastic guy to play with, and a good role model."

He also gives Pogba a lot of credit for taking care of Januzaj and making him feel at home.

Of course there was a choice, and if I'm not mistaken, also a promise of more play time and improved contract.

He just got his feelings hurt for not playing in one game and left. Add an eager agent, and that's that.
