are.
Juventus general director Giuseppe Marotta has confirmed the Serie A giants are on the brink of signing teenage midfielder Paul Pogba from Manchester United.
The Frenchman's future had been up in the air for months but after lengthy talks he has finally decided against extending his deal at Old Trafford, with his current contract set to expire this summer.
Marotta says discussions are in the advanced stages, with Juve waiting on an answer from the 19-year-old.
"We have lured him away from Manchester United," he told Corriere dello Sport.
"We respected the rules. Pogba, for his own reasons, didn't intend to renew.
"We informed the club and we are now waiting for an answer. Talks are well advanced."
Juventus have also been linked with moves for Manchester City youngster Mario Balotelli and Napoli's Edinson Cavani this summer, but Marotta has played down such reports.
"We have never thought about Balotelli. He doesn't fit the profile we are looking at, a profile which isn't based solely on technical ability," he added.
"Cavani? You always have to consider the wishes of the clubs which own the players."
Such a shame. To think that one of the reasons why we didn't signed a CM last year was because of him.

You really believed SAF when he said he didnt sign a CM because of Pogba?
Shame. Feels like it was just yesterday I was watching him and Morrison in the youth cup and getting all excited.

I think that after failing to sign Nasri, SAF thought that its not worth spending big money on a CM. Pogba was one of the reasons why SAF chose that option.
I want to see full committed people here. Bye Pogba!

Our interest in both Nasri and Sneijder clearly showed Pogba being at the club wasnt a hindrance in our chase of CMs. We didnt get one, yes, but not because Pogba was at the club.
I just feel SAF left it till too late and when things didnt work out, didnt fancy splurging money on a quick hasty signing.
If being 400 mil plus in the red and paying 40 mil plus in interests per year is not being skint then I'm kinda lost to the concept of being skint
Clearly you are!
So for instance if you make £50k a year - have a bankloan of £150k - and pay interest of £10k a year...would you consider that skint ?

If I was solvent and debt-free one day, then in the hole for £500 million the next, I'd consider myself well and fecking truly skint.

Have you ever bought a house?
Except that we can be entirely debt free if the Glazers choose to sell 25% of the club.
Which would simply represent a partial reversion to the old Plc. And make no difference to the football team whatsoever.
So how bad can our debt problems be, when we can solve them so easily?
Clearly you are!

Yes. And paid off the mortgage too.

if i need to be spending 40k + to maintain certain level of comfort or want to invest money...then what? didn't we make a loss of 2 or 3 mil a year or two ago?

Immediately, or did you pay it off over time, as well as the interest accrued from the original mortgage/loan?

Looks to me as though Sky Sports have misinterpreted the quote. The answer they're waiting for is from United, not the player. Pogba must have made up his mind already.
No, Marotta said they are waiting for the player to make up his mind.Looks to me as though Sky Sports have misinterpreted the quote.
