Sickening really, isn't it? it's not often a player leaves your club rated as promising, to being rated a 40m + player in such a short amount of time. It's a fecking killer.
Yep. Imagine him going to one of our rivals, too, and coming back to bite us the ass.

Chelsea have been linked with a huge bid for him over the past couple of days. :nervous:

"a hell of a lot more" than £39m? No he won't. He's not that good.
Well that 39m is in € so that would be about £31m. Think he'll certainly go for more than that.

For a player of his age and potential I think he goes for huge sum. His release clause is rumored to be around £60m which is the sum Chelsea are said to be offering Juventus this summer. Can't see them paying that, but wouldn't shock me if someone does.

I can't see them paying that either. They've just signed Fabregas and Matic has done well for them since coming back for 20 odd million.

It says 45m Euros on the website. Still think £31m would be a big gamble for a player of his age, experience and performances.

That's true, but I can see Mourinho wanting another top midfielder and playing a 4-3-3 and allowing Fabregas to play further up the pitch. Then he can rotate Oscar more so he isn't so burnt out. Adding Pogba would make them even scarier.

......................Costa.....................
Hazard...........Fabregas............Willian
............Matic...............Pogba.............
Luis.......Terry.............Cahill........Azpilicueta
.....................Courtois....................

Have Oscar rotating with Cesc or Willian and they'd still have ridiculous depth with Ivanovic, Shürrle, Ramires, Salah, Lukaku etc.

Nonsense. You didn't risk playing a rookie talent or "think about the future" in the middle of one of your toughest PL campaigns.

If you remember correctly, hee was given chances from the bench, which he didn't think were good enough. Sir Alex was not going to bow down or decide his teams based on Pogba's wished.

But you do play park ji sung and rafael as a midfield duo? This was what annoyed me during the last years of SAF's reign. He opted to play senior players out of position rather than promoting a youth. Showed a serious lack of trust and short sightedness.

He was given 3/4 appearances in 6 months and saw scholes being brought back. Not to mentionn that SAF spent two seasons arguing against a midfield signing cos we had pogba and morrision in reserves.

We just payed 27m-31m for a player who is younger than him, has less experience and hasnt performed as well as him. Not to mention fullbacks are generally cheaper than midfielders. He is easily going to be valued above 40m when he does move.

Agreed. He's a big name, very well known, highly marketable young player with potential to be the best in the world.

yes he is. he will most likely be the best in the world in his position. at 21 hes starting for france and a european team in CL games. theres no doubt that hes worth a lot of money and thats a bitter pill all united have to swallow. Juve will want ridiculous amounts of cash for him. the more time passes the more expensive he will get. if we want him we should pay what is required before the price sky rockets.

Had a browse on http://www.transfermarkt.com/ there and his market value has risen to fecking 39m. :wenger:

He's good, but I'm certain that if he was still here he'd be nowhere near that.

What makes you think that? Can you imagine Pogba playing in our midfield during the past two seasons? He would have been a nailed-on starter for every game, and he would've only gotten better.

Regardless, I'd take him for 39m in a heartbeat.

I'd forgotten about that. Not a bad point.

Would Pogba count as a homegrown player?

Can't help still feeling a little upset when I think about Pogba.

Of all the players in all of the positions to chose to overlook and let go, /facepalm.

He didn't get a lot of opportunities at United and those times where he did he didn't look all that impressive. So he scored a free header in the WC, big deal.

Because he thought he was a better central midfielder than Gibson, Park and Rafael and thought he was worth 20k a week, we told him to piss off!

I still can't get my head around that at all. I don't think any of us ever will

It's a tough one but if we consider that there was an enormous amount of pressure on the club at that time to continue winning we maybe weren't the best place for him anyway. A lot less pressure at Juve, really.

It's a fair point that but, if we consider the summer of 1995 for a second.

We got rid of 3 of our best players and drafted in 5(6 if you include Terry Cooke) reserve team players into the squad, without signing anyone and with no guarantee that Eric would come back. After losing the league to Blackburn that season previous, there was a hell of a lot of pressure there. A lot more then what Pogba or we were under at that time in 2012.

Either way, it's done now...No point going over it again. Will always be a head scratcher

How can you look impressive as a sub in CM? It's not like an attacker that gets more of a chance to make an impression either through a goal or an assist. As I recall, the most minutes he ever had in one game was 45 minutes. Every other match was what, 20-25 or fewer minutes?

You can look arsed.

Please let the rumours be true. Would love Pogba back at United, and I personally think he'd compliment Herrera better than Vidal, as he likes to get on the ball and dictate play from deep, whereas Vidal likes to bomb on and be more of a threat in the box.

On top of that we brought Scholes back.

What rumours?

He did play very well at times. You can see the class come out in those moments. I dunno how the goal does anything to his already known reputation.
My point is, often he doesn't even play that well as people say he does but if he scores everybody is screaming how good he is, how Fergie blew it , etc. I also know that the lad has class, but people saying he is already one of the best midfielders etc makes me sick.

Disagree. He only scored 7 goals in 33 appearances for Juventus last season, so where I don't see how his goals make people 'blind'. What about his other performances? Fact is, Pogba is a class act, and I personally think the people who say otherwise are still upset that he left our club.

It's a decent argument but there is a serious inequality between the pressure on the club when comparing those two years. Certainly a lot of pressure in '95 but at the time United were the up and comers and could afford to take risks something that couldn't be done in 2012.

Oh gee, I don't know, maybe score a goal or provide an assist? ;)

You expect a goal or an assist from a midfielder in less than 120 minutes of total playing time? Like I said, he's not part of the front four so it's a lot more difficult to affect the match with a goal or an assist or even provide a moment of flair. We knew he was capable of it at the time, but he needed more minutes to gain confidence and to get opportunities where he could show that.

Can tell you that I'm not, I've spoken Juve fans and they say literally the same. The lad is a good player and a big talent, but he isn't (yet) one of the best midfielders of the world. He is a big talent and a good player but also a tad overrated.

Well I for one am glad we don't have Pogba. Not the one with the best attitude as he has proved with his various interviews blaming Sir Alex, and Sir Alex definitely knows how to man manage. He gave chances to many good players over quarter a century, and if you don't believe in him - you don't believe in anything. Scoring a header with no goalkeeper at the line is easy.

Look at Herrera's treatment. He's a player who wants to be here whatever the circumstance. We treated him badly last summer and left him hanging on a thread, and even after a year he wanted to come here. I want players to play at United who have a desire to succeed and not mercenaries with bad agents who all they want to do is make money and seek transfers.

Yeah no chance of him coming back. Can't see United paying £45m+ just 2 years after he walked out on us for nothing and wouldn't think he would want to come back here anyway.

Gutted he left though but understandable.
