Paul Pogba

We need Pogba back, he is just the complete midfielder apready at his young age and any fee we spend would represent value over a 10 year career.

Don't think Madrid would be willing to let Bale go already, but doubt that would stop them going for him if they were interested.

Hopefully Woody goes for him in the summer because he would bring so much quality to our midfield. Im just not sure Juve would sell for another season. I wouldn't mind the club putting in a £55-60mill bid plus clauses if we have to. I don't think it would take much more.

4.5 million euro net in his latest contract, according to various reports. That should be around £130k gross a week, if my calculations are correct.
By my calculations that are 65k pounds per week. What did we do differently? Or is the 4,5M figure excluding taxes?

Woodward says we want to stop top players going to La Liga. Van Gaal says he wants to build the best squad in the world.

Pogba says he loves the club and admits that he was impatient, even though there was clearly a mistake on our part as well not giving him a few more games

He's a player who could make Van Gaal's words come true a lot easier and we seem to be overspending on much lesser players, and former top players so I really hope we do everything we can to make this one happen. Along with Strootman, Pogba would be another quality CM who would give our midfield the strength that the likes of Mata, Ander, Blind and Carrick lack. We wouldnt have to throw Fellaini in there. And he's definitely a player worth losing one or two of those mentioned in order to help finance/create space for him

Italy reports net wage, England reports gross wage. If a player in Italy is on 4.5 million a year that means the club is actually paying him around 9 million due to taxes.

I believe it is Euro's though so his wage might be about 115k in England then.

Pogba and Reus are Madrid bound in the summer. That's a certainty. Modric and Bale I reckon will be sold to make way.

I can see Real going for Aguerro too so City may fancy a swap deal with Aguerro for Bale....There's no way City will give us a free run for Bale

Memphis Depay will probably be our winger signing in the summer but we definitely will be in with a small chance for Bale due to the Giggsy influence

I hate when people say s**t like this. I assume you are not a member of the board at Real so you don't have a clue what they have planed. You THINK that is what will happen but you can't say it's a certainty. That's just stupid. The amount of people on here last year that were adamant that Shaw would end up at Chelsea yet they all got it wrong.

Yes, fans are not happy because we looked much better in 4-4-2 without Bale in starting 11, but it's been half a season and the fans are fickle. Besides, Perez doesn't care about what they think and he showed it in last two summer windows (Ozil, Di Maria). Bale is Flo's buy, just like Benzema was. He is only leaving if he wants to go back to England. Flo is not giving up on his man.

As for Modric, well this is today's Marca article.

It's only paper articles, but if you think there is a more important player on this team (from the eyes of the supporters and the local media), you're wrong. No one will ever say it out loud enough to overshadow Ronaldo, but the balance of the team lies in that guy and it's clear as daylight. If Modric comes back in March and helps pull the team to CL or La liga title, he'll get a monument at Cibeles. If all goes down the drain and we win nothing, then Flo will go on a spending spree and then the idea of Modric in Chelsea doesn't look that crazy.

Aguero is not coming to Madrid to play as a substitute to Ronaldo and Benzema. I actually think that no top team has it's eyes on him. He would cost a lot of money and he's constantly injured last few years, and it's not Reus type of injuries where it's down to hard tackling and he's suddenly called injury prone. For me Aguero is the best striker in the world, but the guy is made of glass, and it's not a cliche.

Last year we were 2 minutes away from the biggest meltdown in history of the club (losing everything to Atletico). If we don't win anything this season, there will be bigger changes to the squad, but if we finish the season well, there won't be much traffic at the Bernabeu.

Still absolutely ridiculous we didn't play Pogba and give him a proper chance in the team given how much we would love him back now.

Can't get my head around it all went so badly wrong!

I try and pretend it never happened. It hurts my head if I think about it too much.

Especially with our midfield situation at the time.

You think back to that period where we were playing Jones in midfield and Rafael on the wing and wonder what was going on at the club.

Obviously we continued winning, but there appeared to be no long term strategy in place. It is absolutely criminal that we let Pogba go and I dont care how anyone spins it that's what we did.

Boy am i glad we have him, i never thought in a million years he would turn out to be so good for us. He has impressed from day one.

Now a great dummy to set up Tevez. 2-0, 7 minutes in.

I will never ever forgive Fergie for allowing this guy to walk away and to Juventus of all places (no disrespect but they aren'ta European super power anymore).

He is helping us to get back to that level though, we are not far off from being a contender for the CL. 2-3 quality attacking players and we could trouble any team.

I think you are a lot further away than you suggest, time will tell of course. Who do you have this year knock out stages?

That's ridiculous.

It is? Care to explain? The guy was quite obviously a talent when here and yet Fergie played a midfield consisting off fabio and rafeal i believe ahead of him?

Ridiculous overreaction, get over it, it's been years now.

Yeah, watching a young man develop in to one of, if not the best midfielders of he's age at a different club after we allowed him to move on and I'm not allowed to be okay with it?

Seriously, lets lock this thread.

Reading about his goals and how he's becoming a beast of a player makes me furious.

Will never understand how he couldn't get enough playing time from SAF in our shit and miserable midfield.
He went to Juve with twice* as good midfield as ours and became an instant starter. He was that good back then. And look at him now...

*Edit: Changed my mind: their midfield wasn't twice as good as ours, but at least five times better. They already had Vidal, Pirlo and Marchisio (both had wonderful WC) and they signed Asamoah from Udinese that summer. To compare with our so called "midfield" we had one Michael Carrick and bunch of shite players with Anderson on the top.

Still Pogba went there and made the difference with such competition.

We have one of the strongest midfields in the world as well as a solid defence, our attack is the only thing stopping us from beating the top teams. Our tactics under our last coach extremely limited us as well our new coach has more emphasis on attack and it is paying off.

We have Dortmund, i think they are favourites but it's still possible for us to go through.

I don't think we know all there is to be known about the Pogba affair. Fergie never liked to be played for a sucker. He hit back hard at anyone who tried that, even when it cost him a brilliant player.
