Paul Pogba

Pogba is brilliant. Some of his passes are outstanding. That through ball to Morrison and the half volley down the centre to Cole

Pogbas very intelligent on the ball. He's great an manipulating it and finding space. People say he's in and out but the team is multi talented. How can Pogba dominate the ball, when you have Morrison in the team or someone else?...

You'd need two or more balls.

He's a class act, has been a class act since his debut. What he did produce, was a very assured performance in front of a big crowd but he was upstaged by Morrison and Keane and that's ok because as it turns out, both are outstanding prospects too.

Hopefully they'll feature in the carling cup next season and the talent is there to win it. Happy days.

He seems to have everything in the locker for a box-to-box midfielder. Pace, power, dribbling, a powerful shot and vision to pick out a great pass. Huge future for the lad.

Look very good tonight, although I do think he looked like he got knocked off the ball a couple of times too easily. Small gripe for an 18 year old in a very good game at his level.

Still needs to work on some areas of his game but his range and ability when it comes to passing is phenomenal. Cracking shot in the second half as well, only stoped from hitting the back of the net by an outstanding save by the keeper

He's incredibly impressive. Physique, shot, passing game.. He's got quite a lot of extraordinary tools.

What do you guys think would be the best for him next season? To play in the reserves and get the odd game here and there or go out on loan?

Brilliant game tonight. As much as the scorers will get the headlines, I thought he was a class above everyone else there.

He is still only very young so I'd let him make the step up to reserves for a year and then maybe a season out on loan. I still think he has a lot of growing into his own body to do and that should only be done under the eye of United to monitor how he is getting on.

No need to rush him out somewhere on loan where he is not going to have the facilities to develop in.

I don't think he should be loaned out. Carling cup run next year.

Sounds reasonable. Would probably be best to keep a close eye on his development at this stage. It would be nice to see him get a few games too.

I thought he drifted out of the game a lot, but the tools are there he can be what he wants really, he has everything in his locker.

Should be playing in Home games vs Weaker teams / CC Games and the first few rounds of the FA Cup next year.

The lad is insanely talented. I can't see anyway (baring a horrific injury) he won't make it at top level.

I think he'll have to adapt his game more than most to step up to senior football. You can tell he's used to being the biggest, strongest player on the pitch by the way he almost invites contact. When he receives the ball he often allows his marker to get close, so he can use his size and strength to shield them from the ball and beat them. This works great most of the time but when he's tired or up against more physical players he can get knocked off the ball in dangerous areas of the pitch.

Once he learns to delay on the ball a bit less he'll be fine but it will need a fairly major adjustment in his whole approach.

Ridiculously talented though. Him and Morrison are the most technically gifted young 'uns I've seen since Guiseppe Rossi.

Again you have people that have seen loads of a player and come to cautious conclusions while you have people who have seen very little of the same player and come to much more bold conclusions.

Is there a name for this?

Some people are better at assessing a player on little evidence. At this level you can really only say, as Mike did, 'they've got it' or they haven't - there's a long way to go and a lot of hurdles to jump before they 'make it'.

I don't know, When you see players like Wilshere and Ramsey it's clear they've got something more than most.

I think the same is the case with Pogba.

Thats a terrible argument, apart from it being one sided and incredibly biased . I've seen plenty and make a bold statement and there are tons like me. It's not fact that a lot of people are jumping on this late. It's completely dismissing the people who have watched plenty of the youth. The fact is in life there will always be a variety of opinion across the spectrum.

What you'll find is alot of people will say he won't or shouldn't or will pick out a flaw, safe inthe belief that he wont' feature next season....however the same people probably ripped rafael/fabio apart only for it not to be that much of an issue. It comes down to the players themselves and they can suprise you...

The type of player Pogba is, he will be in and out of the game - just like most players. He still nearly scored...he still played some outstanding balls....he still created opportunity/s....he still showed confidence in possession....but people rather see the negatives inspite of the fact that he actually played well...

What he showed was the crowds not a problem. It's a completely different mentality then playing with the first team. You also have to credit Sheff united who played well over the two legs.I think some people forget he's just 18.

If you play centre midfield at the top level you can't afford to be in and out of the game. He is far from a finished product as yet and has a number of areas of his game he needs to improve.

It's pretty obvious to everyone that he's a fantastic talent, he now needs to work hard on his game and he'll have a great chance to make it at United.

Rafael was far from the finished product when we played him but kids can suprise you. I believe that. I think it depends on what we want from the player. He's had a taste and I think the kids will do well in the carling cup next season. I hope so anyway as this season was a tad disappointing. I think though in the youth team, the level of influence drifts sometimes. Sometimes it's Morrison or Keane or Petrucci ...it's great watching this current crop because so many players can be influencial..I missed Tunnicliffe  - but there's so many that I think it can look detremental sometimes

Jack was obviously a stand out at 16 (Fabregas was simply amazing) but we've had other very talented players who ought to have made it, David Bentley for one. Jay Emmanuel-Thomas is outrageously talented but I think he's not going to do it.

You've got to develop as a footballer and in the right physical way, handle the mental side, not get injured and also get the right breaks.

1. None of that was said with your posts in mind, I know you're a regular reserve/youth watcher and I value your opinion on it as I do with countless others.

2. I was honestly just asking a general question.

True, what's up with Aneke? He seemed to be very highly rated but not really mentioned so much lately. He looked very good in the Academy play off last year. Similar build to Pogba and very skilful.

SAF:

'I was going to bring Paul Pogba along to be honest with you but then you get huge numbers..when we all meet up finally in New York and Chicharito joins us then we'll have 29 players, or something like that, which is a lot on tour'

Edited.

Whats up with JET? I remember a Gooner friend of mine almost ejaculating over the youtube of his goal against Everton Reserves/U-18s... Has he not kicked on, or is it something to do with attitude?

only just saw reply but no worries ;) I didn't always watch the youth players but over the last 3/4 years i nearly enjoy it more then first team games as you can just watch it without too much pressure.

pity considering it would have been a nice for him but i'm sure his time will come sooner rather then later. We've still cleverly to come in and various options with young and Jones. I think he'll get some time in the carling cup with a few others though

Is SAF using Essien's calculator? We have 21 right now in US + 6 (De Gea, Smalling, Jones, Cleverley, Welbeck, Chicharito) will join in NY

or is it Sneijder and a fullback that is joining aswell? cock out :D

A shame he couldn't come. I don't think there's any harm in having him as our 5th/6th choice midfielder next year.

CM and CM ... 2nd CM = Fletcher. I was going to throw in Valencia only getting a short break and will join up as well to stomp on Sneijder muppets but, won't do that.

Would've liked to have seen him.

But I think he is probably still too young for the first team anyway.

Would a loan be out of the question for next season? If he's that highly rated, he needs some serious action.
