Phil Jones Future | Reports: Observing United academy sessions

Why are United fans so irrational about ex players being involved in the set up?

Arsenal Academy Manager: Per Mertesaker
Arsenal U18s coach: Jack Wilshire

Chelsea Academy Mentor: Claude Makelele,
Development squad assistant Chelsea: Jon Harley

Many many more examples too, especially within Europe as well.
10 years ago, I always got a kick out of united players coming back and being part of the coaching staff. It was cool to see Ole, Butt, Phil, Giggs, Mclair .... involved in the team was cool.

Now the culture at the club seems so rotten, No matter who the manger the teams seems to be disjointed, players just seem to come in stagnate and then regress, only play well when there contracts are up and stay forever just kind of gathering dust.

So in fairness to fans its understandable they wouldn't want ex players who have been part of the clearly broken culture at the club being kept on.

Would anyone take a punt on him?

Clearly knows that he's doing

Hope not. All these ex players fast tracking to manager doesn't work. Lampard, Gerrard, Rooney....

Get an U18 gig, some senior coaching and then lower league management.
