Pochettino, potential great manager or one season wonder?

Spurs, in a two horse race for the title, finish 3rd.

ever get that feeling of déjà vu?

I really like Poch but I rated (and still rate) AVB so highly. Was sickened by his treatment in England. Such a good manager and had the momentum taken from him by cnut players at Chelsea and the press derailed him at Spurs in a vile fashion.
Finally, I found someone who still rates AVB, a manager who has gone from overhyped to underrated

From the way his teams play, one can say he is a very good manager. Things like results are down to momentum and luck.
I think he has a lot more to come but not sure this Spurs squad is good enough.

Don't think Leicester would have collapsed in this way.

Haha.. It's all about momentum but they lost that at Chelsea. Like I thought all season, Dembele is a bigger influence in this team than people give him credit for.

Great sides arrest negative momentum.
Yeah but seeing it's the end of season.. The main motivation was pressuring Leicester and that was lost, to redirect that to holding off Arsenal can excused if it didn't catch on automatically. I agree though, this side is not as good as being made out.

Agreed. Leicester lost at Arsenal and everyone was writing them off but they kept going. It's not about the set backs you have, it's about making sure you recover from them.

How would they have got on had they lost Kane throughout the season? They were very lucky with injuries this year.

Someone's been watching Rocky.

"It's not about how hard you can hit. It's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward."

Fergie seems to rate him, did his usual trick of taking him for dinner this week, wonder if that'll have any ramifications for us in the future.

It was the other way around - Poch invited Fergie .... to pick his brains about CL campaigns and coaching methods.

The OP's question has the clue.
Potential great?
yes the potential is there.
Will he become a great manager?
Who really knows?

Early days in his career. Bottom line? This season isn't enough to make him nor is it enough to end him. That is, it isn't enough to convince me yet he's a top class manager but the way they bottled it at the end shouldn't symbolise his ability either. He's very young people forget and he has a lot to learn. He's got a good foundation I do believe that.

The aim has to be to finish in the Top 4 again. If he manages that for a second year in the row, you can call him a great manager. There is no sense in thinking about the title next season though. It will be firmly in City's hands.

Not convinced

1 thing for sure, after this season it was lovely to see him get smashed after all the smugness in the last few months.
