Politics at Westminster | BREAKING: UKIP

Perhaps I just have a negative opinion of this world but I'd imagine that MPs regularly receive threats from the crazies out there.

The cynic in me suggests this is a good way to jump on the bandwagon and for a young MP to get their name in the papers. Probably an unfair assertion

We all remember the "We'll cut the deficit, not the NHS" poster right? In typical tory fashion, they've done the exact opposite. And f*cked everything else up for good measure.

In fairness, that graph shows that they have cut the deficit.

The difference between debt and deficit does confuse people, but it doesn't help that politicians of all sides will happily pick one measure and ignore the other according to their argument.

Buzzfeed had a list of Tory donors on the honours list. It's a fecking disgrace. The who shenanigans should be scrapped.

I share Owen Jones sentiment that private, legal behaviour shouldn't cost one their job, but it is pretty funny that the Sun has come back to bite Danczuk

As a republican I think the whole thing is ridiculous anyway

What did he write in the texts?

That she was "cheeky" and he wanted to "spank" her. Pretty tame to be honest. That's why I'm not celebrating another tabloid lead artificial furore. But I do appreciate the irony of it biting Danczuk.

And most of all, once he's gone, I can stop worrying about which way around the Z and the C go when typing his name.

Good riddance to the Blairite trash, boggles the mind how he was a Labour MP. Perhaps now he's suspended he can join his beloved Tories.

I even thought he was sending pictures.

I've now read the Sun story (:nervous:). Quite a lot of sexts exchanged over a number of months and both seemed to be equally explicit.

But even though the story is essentially unmarried man exchanges flirty texts with single woman given his profile it was always likely to blow up in his face.

Yep

This focus on rail fares seems like a good idea for Labour. I've noticed it is hideously expensive to get the tube or the train.

Yeah, I had to renew my monthly zone 1-2 travelcard this morning and it's gone up to just over £124. One stop on the bus costs £2.20 without Oyster ffs.

Yep, pretty much the reason I've ditched the train and opted for a motorcycle to commute to work. Its cheaper, quicker and doesn't leave me in the mercy of the worst train line in Europe.

How do you do a bus journey without oyster at this point? Seems like it should prohibitively awkward to pay the cash fare by now.

The advent of contactless cards has added a further element to the process.

Which line are you referring to?

They scrapped cash on buses last year tbf, which confuses tourists now and then.

That's what I meant. Seems pointless complaining about the bus cash fare when they've done almost all they can to ensure no one pays it.

I got a train to Ashstead today and was impressed with the cleanliness and the timeliness of the service. 17 quid return though...feck me! Not including the fare on the underground and the git-hard seats on the Jubilee Line.

Rob the poor and give to the rich – housing policy for 2016
The bill before parliament is ideology at its purest: a full-throttle attack on social tenants everywhere

Any would-be homebuyer earning the national average of £26,500 will now find 91% of England and Wales beyond their reach. If you can’t buy, you rent – except in London, the epicentre of the madness where rents are so extortionate, newspapers compete for horror stories. Consider the £480 a month charged for a mattress in the corner of a communal lounge in a shed in the east end.
