Relax,we are 2 games into the season...It’s a tad bit early to say that we have gone “backwards” this season...

How much more backward can we go though?
Lets not forget that 400 million has been invested since Mourinho took over.
When do we hit the bottom?

For me it was the Sevilla loss, not just because we lost to a vastly inferior and cheaper side but also because we lost 100% because our tactics were crap and we played cowardly and the whole thing was a disgrace.

Since then we've been playing even worse and now there seems to be a lot of animosity between our manager and some of our key players.

When do we hit the rock bottom?

I care more about having a coach that gets us playing good football than a proven winner, so I'll be looking at this sporadically: https://www.theringer.com/soccer/20...me-to-the-ringer-soccer-watchability-rankings

Both Garcia @ Marseille and Gasperini @ Atalanta failed to impress at their big jobs in Italy (Roma and Inter) but otherwise have strong records and seem to play attractive stuff. Tedesco has sorted out Schalke which seems to be a tough thing to do and got big seasons from some mediocre players last year. Does play 3 at the back which might not suit the squad that well but a buy or two (wingback and a CB basically) would fix that, and I could see how playing 3 at the back and being able to use Lukaku and Sanchez as a forward pair might be our best way to actually compete for the title, and we don't have wingers anyways really:

---Sanchez---Lukaku
---------Pogba-------
Shaw-Fred-Matic-Dalot
--Lindelof-CB-Bailly

or Pogba and one of Fred/Herrera/Matic as CMs and we sign a creative midfielder to play behind the striker. Probably need a wingback to start since Shaw and Dalot both working out seems too optimistic.

The way our owners see it,we will only hit rock bottom when we fail to qualify for the CL.If we don’t finish in the top 4,then that’s rock bottom...Moyes and LVG were sacked when they finished outside the top 4 and Jose will meet the same fate if he fails to secure CL football.

Personally I want Mourinho to continue if we finish in the top 4 ...I honestly don’t see a better manager available right now.Ideally I would like to see Pochettino take over after working for another 2-3 years at Spurs...The grass isn’t always greener on the other side...

If Zidane comes here, hopefully he'll bring Varane, Kante, Mbappe and Griezmann here... One can dream:D

I think Arsene Wenger with SAF as a DOF and some good coaches like Rene Mulsteen and Vidic as defensive coach, Scholes as the talents coach and another good striker as a the striking coach could do wonders. Arsene's problem has been his defence and if he lets someone like Nemanja deal with the defence our defence can be solid and Arsene knows what he is doing in playing football.

No white text?

I swear if Zidane is coming in next summer, but knowing him, we'd be all over Hazard considering he'd have 1 years left by the end of this season. Hazard and Varane are most likely to happen.

Didn't think about that.. Would be an exceptional signing.

You could play them as a front 3.
No, no, no, no! You just don't do that!
You buy one more left winger next year, then you got four and aim for a right winger the year after next year, only to buy one more left winger in the end. You can then have more than 4 of a kind. You can win anyone! Anyone!
Modern football is like poker my man. You just don't get it.

P.S. If we buy all top left wingers there will be 0 remaining for the other teams. Think about it.

Absolutely no chance Hazard would leave Chelsea for us, 0%.

And that is a problem why?

We didn't create chances for fun last season.
If that’s in reply to @fallengt , he was referring to the season before last. I agree; our finishing was poor, but there was no shortage of attacking intent.
Maybe the last few years have poisoned me but I want a more expansive coach with aggressive philosophy.
Nah; that just goes to show you’re one of the spoilt, entitled “modern” fans that the Top Reds so despise :wenger:

I stand corrected. If so, I agree. Our football in the first season was significantly better than last year.

Seriously ?!

Seriously ?!

Meaning, they'd be our first target if Zidane is coming in, Woodward really wants Varane, that will only happen if Zidane coming in so that would make it easier for us to sign Varane. If Real Madrid is not coming for Hazard next season, we'll have to be in the race for his signature next season.

Varane will never leave Real Madrid, how is that hard to grasp ? Zidane wasn't the only reason he was playing for Madrid. He was alwaye built up there as the next leader of the defense and they kept him when he was on the bench for Pepe, then he finally nails on the starting position they were preparing him for and won 3 CLs in a row he will decide to leave in the peak of his age to a team that struggles to compete fo its own league and Madrid will leave him that easily ? Really ?

Madrid won't sell him even for 200m, and he wasn't playing there for Zidane eyes alone.

Literally more chance of signing Messi than Hazard. Unless the Glazers buy Chelsea it’s an impossible signing.

Varane isn’t worth the fee he’d cost IMO. Very good player who’s still improving but overrated after the world cup. Has yet to have an exceptional full league season.

Surely this is a troll?

Varane was coming to us in 2011 before Zidane gives him a call but at the time he was working as a sporting director, he's the reason why Varane joined Real Madrid. At the moment, Real Madrid's new manager doesn't rate him highly, they favour Nacho more.

Zidane got him to the team because he's good enough to spot the best French talents around and get them. Yes, Zidane was the reason Varane joined Madrid but it's because of Zidane scouting him well, not that Varane choosing them due to Zidane alone. Since when players choose a certain club because they love their sporting directors ? He surely didn't see Zidane becoming a manager several years later. And btw, almost every player will choose Madrid or Barca over us or any English club anyway if they're offered a chance.

How do you know he favour Nacho more ? You do realize that he's not playing anyone who reached WC semi final yet right ? Modric was kept on the bench for their 2 games in the league, do he not favor him also ?

Madrid refused to sell Varane several times when he was a sub player setting on the bench for most of the season for Pepe and Ramos. It defines logic that they'll sell him when he became an integral part of CL winning team, already nailed his starting position and had just won WC.

I forget to mention something, don't you remember what Madrid did with us exactly when we wanted to sign their sub striker, Morata, when they were wanting to offload him and how much they asked for ? You're expecting any difference from when we ask them for the player they were preparing for ages to lead their defense ?

Our only chance of getting Varane was when he was on the bench for Madrid some years ago, and when our relations with Madrid wasn't that bad. Now it's impossible.

Is Zidane only being touted due to him being unemployed?

Stories coming from France. But yeah, he wouldn't be linked if he was still managing in Madrid.
Not seen you around much. Hope everything is great in life.

More than likely. Waiting for the Zidane is taking English English lessons twice a day in preparation for the United job articles.
Newspaper sales are on the decline. The only way journalists can stay in jobs is to create clickbait stories on the net. We're just suckers.
