Changed my choice from Ancelotti to Pep (with Ancelotti in second place).
Ancelotti would probably have been the ideal manager to take over from SAF but now that we've made the shift towards a possession football philosophy it makes sense to continue that with Pep.

Agreed, Pep fits directly with what we have been building, but if he goes to City then Ancelotti would be one of only 2 suitable choices left IMO.

Can't wait for people to fecking moan their eyes out when/if we get Pep and he does some silly stuff with formations or positions changing, some went into proper meltdown with Blind playing CB.
Pep seems like a natural successor to LVG though, a bit afraid of that Giggsy talk though, love him to bits but I'm afraid he wouldn't cut it for some reason. Not that I'm a fan of Guardiola myself, no.

Just as well I never voted because it would have been Klopp. Hopefully by the time it comes to looking for a new manager there'll be a new Big Name on the scene to get excited about.
Simeone. I am firmly of the belief we must bring in someone that has won a top league and done well in the CL.
I think Tuchel at Dortmund could be someone that may interest us once LVG retires.
I don't expect that at all. I do think it's more likely that he'll end up at City next summer and we'll still have Louis going into next season... But if we were fortunate enough to get Pep then I think having someone who has presided over the best club team in football history (IMV) and won everything there is to win will get some leeway. I also don't think he'll accept carrying any passengers and he won't come here without being given total control.

I don't think you can go wrong with either.
Ancelotti adapts to and gets the best out of whatever he has available. Diamond at Milan, 4-3-3 at Chelsea, 4-4-2/4-3-3 hybrid at Madrid. In fact, he'd come in take the best of Van Gaal's work and add a bit of directness to it to complete it.
In terms of football style, Guardiola is the only choice, to continue what LVG has started.
I though, love to win and I want MUFC to win. With this in mind, I want Mourinho to come and start doing what he does best - and win the league title in his 2nd season.

I voted for Pep but I don't think we need to be too hung up on this building on what Van Gaal has started thing. Possession is a good option. But if we get a manager who wants to play a different way, the lessons Van Gaal has taught them won't be wasted. They'll always have a new perspective on the tactical side of the game and be more comfortable in possession, even if having it is not the primary objective.
Guess it's time to change my vote, as Klopp seems unlikely now. Guardiola it is then.

If not Pep, then Simeone. I can see him embracing the Utd way and making it his own. 4-4-2/4-2-3-1. An organized team in defence with lethal counters. Would be a nice change to see a crazy bastard shouting at everyone on the touchline. Seems content at Atletico mind.

Unless the club does a 180 I don't know why this is even a discussion.
The risk is too great. We can't risk doing what we did Moyes and lose a whole season.
I'm surprised by the number of Simeone fans on here. I know he's not got a huge amount of the votes but he seems popular.
I admire what he's done at Atletico though to be honest I'm not in awe of what he's done. I mean OK he's challenged to big 2 but I seem to remember Pellegrini doing the same? With a smaller club and a lot less money? And I am sure there has been others who have challenged the top 2? OK maybe not quite succeeded but still...
I just don't like the guy though. He could be a great coach for all I care. As a character he's interesting but so is Jose and I don't want him at the club either. I find his touchline antics quite frankly a disgrace and I don't want that associated with our club.

Pep, Ancelotti, Simeone. In that order. Surely we could/will get one of those. Giggs is still too risky and De Boer, i dont know, but i would like to see him somewhere else if he can do the business, not just at Ajax.

It's going to be harder for big teams to hire qualified but up and coming managers with the sport now so calcified by extreme capitalism.
Look at Spain or England, generally considered the 2 strongest leagues overall. Is someone going to take Spurs or Sevilla into the top 2 or 3 a couple of times and therefore elevate themselves to a place where they are sought after like Klopp? Tough to see, right?

Simeone has managed it, but Atletico still look uncomfortable as hell when they aren't counter-attacking. If he's flexible I think he will be able to change that since Koke and Oliver Torres are such clever CMs and Correa, Griezmann and Vietto are all mobile and technically solid.
That said, if he came here and we played his 4-4-2, we do have many of the parts needed. The FBs are right for it, Smalling would be excellent sitting deep, defending the box and not asked to pass much, Schneiderlin and Herrera (presumably out wide) like to press from midfield and Martial would exploit the space in behind well. Schweinsteiger would be fine as a CM. Not sure it would suit Memphis, Januzaj or Mata, though.
