just when we mounted a serious attack on pompey's goal, we lost the ball and the midfield unable to retrieve and defend the ball, and pompey mounted a counter-attack and score a goal... goodness...
 
We just don't seem to be up for these games like we used to be .It is a shame that we need a goal against us to get us going.
 
Dominating possession, but can not create solid goal scoring chances. United really seem to lack a player from the midfield that can create. Saha has looked good today, Ole has been off, and Giggs is non existent. Meanwhile, the back four has played good at times, but there have been some weak headers and I've noticed a few players are giving away possession too much. The goal was a fluke. Guess we'll see Ronaldo on soon, and probably take off Djemba.

Butt, Saha, and Micky have stood out, IMO. Scholes appears to be having an off match.

this is what we are playing for the whole season unfortunately. :(

Yup...it is match fitness,understanderble....but the other "seniors" need to buck up for the second half :mad:

I could see their goal coming when we kept giving it back to them(ball). bad defending and great luck for them.. :mad:
 
All we're playing for effectively is the right to have a few extra days kip in pre-season, so its no wonder the players dont seem motivated. Whereas for Pompey this is a huge game. Saying that, we've played well in parts, just need to turn the screw.

I am wondering why we always have to put ourself backfoot against these teams. Demotivated? probably you are right. Seems to me that gary have been playing woefully during the first half when defending.

Appears United is playing 4-5-1, with Butt and Djemba playing as holding midfielders with Scholes just ahead of them, and Ole playing more towards the RW, and Saha alone, upfront. But there is a lot of movement with Saha, Giggs, Ole, and Scholes.

If we keep attacking Iam sure we'll score a couple..

That said our passing has been awful at times.

Still, can't get over how crap they are.
 
Seems to me SAF will wait till 70th minute for any changes :(
He does that all season long. Another points dropped without play...
Hope I am wrong though.....

we need to take a shot from the top of the box. giggs, scholes and saha are trying to walk into the net with some stupid 1-2 passes with 11 popmpey players between them and the goal...time for wholesale changes in the summer IMO :wenger:
