Barclays Premiership | Sat, 7 Apr 07, 17:15 | Fratton Park

Now that rrarraroon's lucky streak is over he aint allowed to ever do another matchday thread :p

Anyway a return to winning ways with

GK: VDS

RB: O'Shea
CB: Ferdinand
CB: Brown
LM: Heinze

RM: Ronaldo
CM: Carrick
CM: Scholes
LM: Giggs

CF: Rooney
CF: Saha

1-3 to us and 1 step closer to the title, Rooney x2 and Ronaldo with the goals

Pretty much agree with your line-up.

1-2. Saha, Ronaldo.

you still didn't get to make it

and I could have earlier, chose not to :D

I knew it. You sat in silence scared to crawl out of your miserable hole your match-day thread has created. You didn't dare to make this one out of fright to lose again and being blamed. ;) I didn't want to make the Pompey one though, as I think it's a tough one and didn't want to risk it. :D

And I'm the coward.

I just didn't want to make it because my streak came to an end. :)

great line up

a 1-2 win for United

Mark my words, if Ronaldo plays more than 30 minutes of this, we will not beat Roma.

Yawn all you want, but I think Heinze (is Evra fit yet?), Ronaldo, Carrick (is Fletch up to it?) and Giggs should be rested.

VDS

O'Shea Rio Brown ?Evra?

Park ?Fletcher? Scholes Richie

Rooney Smith

Subs: PIG, Heinze, Carrick, Ronaldo, Saha

I think we can manage for an hour against Pompey w/o Ronaldo, Giggs and Carrick. It's risky, but it's our only hope in Europe IMO. You can bet your tits Roma will rest players this weekend. Remember how tired Ronnie looked against 'Boro in the replay? Granted that was only one day rest, but this will be two days rest and infinitely tougher opposition.

I agree to a certain extent. I say we should rest Giggs and play Park if fit and play Saha up front along side rooney.

VDS

Oshea
Rio
Brown
Heinze/Evra if fit

Ronaldo
Fletch
Scholes
Park

Rooney
Saha

Rest Giggs and Carrick. Ronaldo and rooney are still young and they should be able to play both games.

3-0 to united, saha, rooney and ronaldo with the goals.

No resting players, 90 minutes at this point of the season is not going to make any difference, we should be putting the best team available.

---------VDS
O'Shea-Rio-Wes-Heinze
Ron-Carrick-Scholes-Giggs
-----Rooney-Saha

0-2 ( Rooney and Ronaldo )

....and Spud to hold Chelski 0-0 at The Bridge

Regardless of us being a goal down against Roma the Premiership is still the priority, no one should be rested :nono:

:nono: Everyone should be rested, Kuszczak too, to make him feel like part of the team, Heaton in nets!

---------------------Van Der Sar--------------------

--O Shea--------Rio----------Brown----------Heinze--

--Park-----------Scholes----Fletcher--------Richardson-

------------------Ronaldo/Rooney-----Saha--------------------

Goalie & Back 4 to remain so as to build up better communication and confidence as a set.

Park, Fletcher, Richardson to rejuvenate what should be a tiring midfield from the match against Roma when we were over-run.Scholes in since he played less than a half.

Saha needs games to score.

We'll probably win from an individual piece of magic from one of our wonderboys (i.e. Rooney/Ronaldo)

Subs:Kuzczak, Smiff, Cathart, Rooney, Giggs

-------VDS-------
O'shea--Rio--Brown--Heinze

Park--Carrick--Scholes--Ronaldo

------Rooney---Giggs--------

Same as last year please lads

We'll hammer them !! Pompey look exhausted recently. 3-0 United (Rooney, Saha, Scholes)

Vds

O'Shea
Brown
Rio
Beans (when's pat actually back, no one seems to know  )

Ronaldo
Fletcher (maybe Carrick, if we lose him for roma though we are fecked)
Scholes
Park/Retardson (now i don't like mocking richardson but i don't like playing him. still, we need ryan for tuesday and should have enough)

Rooney
Saha

need to beat portsmouth so roon and ronnie will just have to keep going imo. if we're winning by 2 with 20/30 mins left then take them off. giggs will need to be kept fresh and we may have enough without needing carrick. not much we can do with the defence. where the hell is evra?

I think Fletch and Saha have to start - we really need them upto speed for the Roma 2nd leg.

Rest Carrick and Giggs. All else the same.

Take off Boy Wonders #1 and #2 if we at any point we are in a two goal lead

Agreed with taking of Rooney and Ronaldo, but i don't think we should start anyone on the bench that should be on the pitch. It's far too important.

Portsmouth 2-3 Manchester United, can see it being a high scoring game (bet I've jinxed it already hah)...think we will rest some players though - I hope we don't rest Ronaldo, Rooney etc and only take them off if we're winning by 2+ goals because we can't afford to drop points at this stage.

start with the strongest team available and then make changes if we are in a comfortable position. No starting with a crap team, get into a hole then throw on the cavalry to try and save the day!

I hate the games at Fratton Park, they always seem to be at 5pm or noon and we rarely play well there... we'll draw this one I'm afraid.

I hope we murder them. Our confidence must not be dented. Strongest eleven with consideration to fitness and fatigue going into the game

I'm a little worried that we may not mentally have our eye on the ball for this one. If we won the game in Rome it would be different, but the urge to put the first leg right will make us find it difficult to see any other game the same right now. Then again, we may take all this pent up frustration out or Pompey and better them.
