Portsmouth v Manchester United

That is pathetic. Do internet providers stream live matches?

They're not allowed on TV live because they were hoping that it would stop people from sitting at home watching it and go to the stadium. Sadly the internet put paid to that and is possibly partly to fault with the drops in attendance at stadiums across the country.

Don't know why everyone's whining about the penalty. We barely deserve to be level, so I'd be more grateful about the dodgy penalty we got.

We got a clear cut penalty, and shit as we were - winning matches when you're not playing well is part of the game and what makes champions. When you can do that and the referee prevents it, you have the right to be upset.

Still, we've got three midfielders, yet they haven't given us much control in the middle or covered the back four well. Which basically means they're useless, at least as a trio.

That penalty decision was shocking, but not half as shocking as that performance was. It has been quite a while since I last saw us playing so crap against such shit opposition.

He hasnt been much of a creative player this season. That said, he's our second top goalscorer and anytime you have 2 up front instead of 1 you're likely to find yourself having better attacking movements.

We look so much more dangerous with him on the field. He's a crowd quitening player as well because he's patient and keeps the ball.

Rising ticket prices, parking fees and concessions probably don't help either. More people are being frugal with the world economy struggling lately.

Hence why i said partly at fault. The credit crunch is clearly the big problem and clubs being in a huge amount of debt doesn't help either!

i can see vida getting sent off here .
he struggles against pace

need berba on too ... not sure whom for .
giggs is the wide player .. replacing him with a striker is unlikely as there is no other player who can play wide on the pitch at the moment

Ever considered he might not be fully match fit?

Biggest fallacy in football in my opinion. If he is fit enough to take to the pitch at some stage then he's fit enough start.

He won't have lost that much match sharpness in the fecking one week off that he's had.

i'm not at all happy with our play so far. cant seemed to hold on possession significantly long enough to dominate play. and lack of patience in attacking as well. i'm glad Fergie is able to talk to them at half-time.

When they showed it again, from the start, instead of just when the cross came in, you can see why they gave it. He had his shirt pulled full length and out in the open as it wasnt too crowded. As the kick comes in its not as easy to see. But you can be sure the linesman saw the pulling from the start and therefore kept his eye on Vidic. Its a fair award really. He was never going to head the ball but at the same time, its a foul. He shouldnt have needed to get the ball.

you mean before the kick was ever even taken? When the ball is struck he lets go of the shirt and the pompey player attempts to head it. no one called for the penalty it was a ref imparting himself on the game. what you describe happens on nearly every spot ball situation at every level of the game.

Technically of course your right but in realty we all know what should have been called.

I firmly believe although there are so many spastics on this forum that Not One on here would have called for a penalty if the situation was reversed.

Terrrible this has been. Need a signing in january been thinking it for a while but today confirms we need it, a play-making central midfielder who dominates possesion and creates chances in every game.

Pompey seem to be exploiting the gaps on the flanks hence why they're winning the possession battle. Everything seems to be channeled down the flank and then into the box.

Berba and Nani on

Scholes and Giggs off...switch to a 4-4-2

Valencia - Fletcher - Carrick - Nani
-------Rooney-----Berba-------

Tell me about it. To answer your question no hence why we all have to find illegals streams to watch our fecking team. Pathetic indeed mate.

Compared to having 1 player up front? Obviously. Definately. But any second striker would make us look much more dangerous. His scoring record in the league this season is pretty good so hopefully he's on soon.

Easy to find then.

What we need to do is sacrifice some more positions in the team in order to accomodate more central midfielders. Who needs a goalkeeper when you could play Fletcher, Carrick, Scholes AND Anderson all in the same position at the same time?

But seriously, we really are lucky to be drawing. Would like to see Giggs and Carrick come off and Berbatov and Nani come on in the not too distant future.

No, playing well and being better than the other team is what makes you champions, not being somehow imune to referees.

Still, we've got three midfielders, yet they haven't given us much control in the middle or covered the back four well.

Which is what usually tends to happen when we play this system.

Wy does Fergie keep convincing himself it's a good idea?

My FSC stream keep breaking down - is anybody else having the same problem?

I agree. Anderson clearly isnt capable. Scholes plays very deep. Fletcher can do it at times. Carricks at his best sitting infront of the back four.

I think he's a capable footballer - very bloody capable actually. But not in this advanced role I agree.

The overall problem is that we have, as you say, too many midfielders who operate well from deep and not enough higher up the field.

I fecking hate when players make a bad pass and just put their arms out to the side like it's everyones fault but theirs.

Lets see if we can play with at least an ounce of conviction and desire now.
