Great to see a fightback. Fergie time!

Fellani was as good as Mata www bad-Big hair was a force. Mata's disappearing act is now complete-would give David Blaine a run for his money. When subbed we had no #10-so just bombed the ball into the box. Rooney will go unchallenged as the #10. Solid D against an in-form team. Smalling was solid.

Only way Falcao doesn't play next week if he's in a wheelchair. RvP got his goal-but should have had more. On to City now.

Slightly seeing as you are fighting them for 4th! Or have you not quite got out of last season mode yet? ;)

Until the stats men get their books out to write the finishing positions, I believe Liverpool are still the team that finished second and Chelsea a reasonably distant third. Who's fighting whom is still to be decided in 2015. :p

Was the game of the season so far. We were outstanding apart from a period after Chelsea scored. Mata is not good enough for this level and needs to be sold to Valencia. Chris Smalling is still very shakey in defence. Rafael does crazy things at time. Januzaj too often tried a dribble when he should have passed.Felliani very impressive for first time in utd shirt.Di Maria didn't do much today.

So we badly need an imposing central defender in January. But we are 100 times more exciting to watch than last season.

Fellaini took on himself to act as Yaya today. Hopefully we get more performances like that from him in the This goal can be a catalyst for the rest of the season. Good performance but one daft moment kept us from the 3 points

Am I alone in thinking our defence wasn't that bad? I think Smalling did well, obviously Rafael shouldn't be marking Drogba and Hazard had that one chance when he got through, but other than that we weren't troubled that much. Would people say Chelsea's defence was awful? Because we had more chances than they did

Interesting to see the new signings against a top side. Shaw the best of the bunch, Rojo careless, Blind looked weak and slow, Di Maria poor. I thought we lacked quality in the final third; too many weak shots, poor crosses. RVP held up the ball well. Fellaini generally tidy and won possession a few times.

Not sure how Coutois got MOTM. Fellaini easily deserved it despite Utd losing at the time.

In all this post-match analysis from Carragher, I'm surprised he isn't missing the obvious: If United were marking zonally, there would be a player on the 6 yard box to head the corner away and Drogba wouldn't have had the space to score.

A few thoughts-

1. Fergie time is back - good fighting spirit to come back at the death.
2. Set pieces were abysmal (last corner aside when Chelsea were a defender short).
3. Fellaini was excellent - after 14 months, he finally looks like he belongs here.
4. Defence (including distribution) needs improvement, probably with the chequebook.
5. Attack is unconvincing when Di Maria is off colour. Maybe Rooney will help.
6. Mata failed to convince.
7. Van Persie worked hard but it wasn't really happening. Maybe that goal will kick start his season.
8. Mourinho's teams are still cynical but they will probably win it.
9. Hazard is perhaps the league's best player.
10. The first serious test of our new look side is passed with a B+. Now to work on our away form.

Chelsea should have gone 2-0 up when Hazard was clear on goal. It was a great save by De Gea, but you'd expect a player of Hazard's quality to have scored. Blind had another good game but the revelation was Fellaini. MOTM for me. Chelsea musn't have been too confident of holding the led, hence the yellow cards. Van Persie's goal was a peach and will do wonders for him. Overall, a creditable result against a very good and well-organised Chelsea team.

Thought we shaded the first half, they were better in the 2nd. Definitely a fair result for both clubs. Our goal will mean much more than a point if it picks up our confidence going into the City game.

They scored of that corner mate. They could either get the corner and score or make hazard score. It would have been 1-0 only.

They're analysing that corner on Sky and it just seems like a mess all round. In the first half Fellaini marked Oscar at a corner, then Matic during a free kick and finally he was stuck marking no one during the corner in the second half since Matic left the box.

Wasn't the Hazard chance at 0-0? I thought they scored from the resulting corner.

If us dropping 2 points todays means you have the confidence to take 3 from City next week, I'll be a happy duffer.

We need to really get the fullbacks whipping the crosses in with pace. Too many easy balls to defend for Chelsea and too many times we got so far only to go back. I think at the minute we're guilty of trying to be too precise. I only counted one proper cross from shaw that had them on the back foot. Just whip them in and sometimes the ball will bounce for you. Put some pace on the ball and get their defenders facing their own goal. In hindsight we could and should have perhaps won. Robin needs to be taking more of his 1 on 1's because he's missed a few this season at key moments. Great for him to get that goal and hopefully it'll spur him on

United got what they deserved, so did Chelsea with their negative tactics.

Andy Hall: Jose Mourinho's plan? Sends Manchester United into the Manchester City game fired up and Branislav Ivanovic gets to rest v Shrewsbury?

So, we finally found out 'who writes these scripts'. Its Jose fecking Mourinho. Thanks for letting us score the goal, Jose.

edit - seriously, is Andy for real?

I think they just had a god 25 min spell from their goal. We stuck to our tactics, Chelsea's fouling bit them in the ass at last. I am liking this possession domination that we do. May be we need better closing down, but that might be because van gaal though fabregas/hazard needed one ball to fall their way and we would be dead on the counter so he did not apply the press.

Please, please just let us get a settled team out there for a decent spell.

What? It was the resulting corner kick that led to their goal duh!

You didn't watch the match right? ;)

Some observations...

1. Luke Shaw played well defensively and even got forward well, but he needs to learn to run into channels when the winger has it on the touchline. He has a tendency to stand a few feet behind him. The play becomes all too linear and predictable.

2. Overlapping doesn't happen much. In Chelsea's system, it's almost automatic on both sides; Hazard and Willian almost always had a runner wide of them or inside them in the channel.

3. Smalling is very good defensively, but his general technique is so far off making him good enough for this system. He often passes it to the players feet rather than into their path. This is no small thing. It slows momentum of the building of attacks and allows players a chance to reposition.

4. Thankfully there's more belief in our play, even if technically and tactically we're not there yet. Glad we didn't give in.

We're gradually getting better. I thought we were a bit more compact in defence but still obviously quite far from looking solid.

Definitely prefer Smalling to Jones.

RVP, Adnan and Shaw all played much better than last week.

Before today people were saying ADM was carrying us but he had a crap game and we still looked dangerous going forward.

What system to play with Rooney back? Diamond? Can't see anything else. ADM prefer central midfield, Fellaini should start, so should Blind.

We were not bad. But individually, some of our players look shaky in defence. Rojo and Smalling are not the most composed of centre back pairings.

Deserved point.

Good game from RVP in general before his goal as well.

The feck RVP was invisible on the pitch, except for that good chance which got saved by Courtois. I found RVP one of our worst players on the pitch, yet again. Obviously he gets into the right positions and gets some good chances but if he doesn't convert them than he is basically quite useless as his overall game just really isn't all that. RVP is still a shadow of his former self, perhaps the goal today could kickstart his season but I much prefer Falcao and Rooney atm.

Pleased with the first half performance, but you just have to take your chances especially playing against a side of Chelsea's quality. Bit of a dud post chelsea's goal but i guess it really is difficult against a side as well organized in defense as Chelsea. Fellaini was fantastic I think. ADM was off today and we can't do enough of silly defensive errors still. Overall that goal at the end showed our progression and made it a decent result. We aren't far off from Chelsea although they are definitely a better side.

Absolutely chuffed at getting an equaliser. Didn't deserve to lose. A good performance overall.

Strange. but your opionion.

Have those two actually played together before? It doesn't help Rojo that his partners keep getting changed. He needs to build an understanding up with somebody. If Smalling can stay fit, that might just happen.

It was still 0-0 then wtf ?

Chelsea got 100% from that chance of Hazard as it led to the corner from which they scored...
