Post-match discussion

We were always pretty comfortable.
Only came here to post what an insufferable twat Owen Hargreaves is.
He has one adjective which is "magnificent". He uses it to describe all sorts of things. Maybe 20% of them are actually magnificent....
His commentary was fecking painful....

Congrats from a disappointed Ajax fan.
I hope you guys manage to hold on to as many of your team as you can. Really promising group of players who could be something special if they continue to develop together. You can take a lot of pride from tonight and this season as a whole.

What a night! After the past two European finals it was amazing to be in complete control of the game from start to finish. Fellaini motm, who'd have thought it?

Hold up folks. News just in. Souness has just revealed on TV3 that it is a hollow victory. It was not, apparently, 'a great watch'. He makes me want to punch my telly. Does anybody remember his Liverpool passing in back and forward across the back line, then back to fecking Ray Clemence, protecting another 1-0 lead? All factors taken into consideration, Mourinho got it spot on tonight. Just admit it, you tool.

Might as well hand the trophy back as far as he's concerned.
Himself and Neil Lennon were so bitter. Maybe if Liverpool took a more pragmatic approach last year they would've won. The three of them made me miss the RTE panel which is saying something

Great result. Game plan was executed perfectly. Not the most exciting stuff, but as Rio said afterwards, everyone will only remember that we won. Roll on next season.

One of our easiest games in the Europa league this season. They froze a little on the night and it was too much for them. We didn't play great, but easily good enough to win comfortably. It's actually what I thought might happen as soon as we scraped through vs Celta Vigo. We'd have been happy to play Ajax earlier in the competition and everyone here had been talking up Lyon and Roma as the teams to avoid.

Hang on Zlat - that's her above the "you" getting her kit off.

Beautiful. Ajax are absolutely shite, I dunno how they got this far but who gives a feck.

Over the moon we won. An absolute masterclass tonight, tactics were spot on and everyone did their jobs very well. As for Ajax, it was almost shades of Athletic Bilbao five years or so ago, they just ran out of steam. I wish them well in their qualifying round and hope to see them in the group stage.

National level.

Not really in much of a state to be typing shit but just wanted to say I'm so proud off each and every one of our players and staff. Amazing performance and an absolutely fantastic tribute to the great city of Manchester. I love you all.

PS. We're fecking back!

I read somewhere that we are the first non Spanish side to win a European trophy since bayern munich in 2013 as well which is quite surprising.

Sign that Sanchez guy, he and Bailey would be deadly. Both big strong and pacey.

Again a average performance but this time brilliant tactics from jose. Thought most the players were poor especially pogba, was getting tired of the amount of times the commentator was making out he was controlling midfield. He gave the ball away every 5 mins. That rant aside, no one remembers the performance only the result.

After a stressful season we made it to the champions league ... hopefully a big shuffle of the squad, add in couple of big signings and I'm looking forward to 8th August already!

I hope you lot are watching them celebrating on the team bus very drunk on their Instagram stories! It's so funny!

Congrats from a disappointed Ajax fan.
Beating a Mourinho side in a final is a tough ask for any side. We've been on the wrong side of a result with him plenty of times too.

Fantastic, we were tactically brilliant start to finish. Cant fault anyone.

Ajax were dreadful. I was wondering at one point why they didnt try crossing the ball instead of trying to pass it in to the net.

Anyway merrily drunk now so probably wont make much sense beyond saying YYYYESSSSSSSSSS

said it last week , ill say it again

jose doesn't lose finals

men against boys.........totally dominant and deserved

champions league plus 2 trophies (sorry don't count charity shield) = a very good year

league needs priority now

Never imagined that Fellaini could be my man of the match in an European final, never.

Well done lads I was on tears specially after hearing the Arabic commentator said: half of their players are on crutches and they still won the European cup just for you to know who is Man.United, who has such a past must come back.
That brought tears to my eyes. Fecking happy and proud.
Off to GriezmON thread.

Jose playing the way United should.....

winning trophies :)

I was at the stadium, and I really think if there were any doubters about Mourinho they should at least concede that Jose knows what he is doing. The MUFC fans were either outnumbered or they were out-sang by the Ajax support which seemed better organized. Maybe our fans were much more anxious because we had so much riding in this game. But under all that pressure, and with our fans not providing as much support for whatever reason, the team came out 100% mentally prepared from minute number one. We controlled tge whole match, regardless of possession stats.

The events in Manchester earlier on in the week might have been a possible reason

Really speaking it was men against boys as the lineups showed.

As much as I'm happy it will help our transfer targets still feels like shit that we had to play tonight after the massacre.

I understand the need to carry on of course - I'm just very fed up with the world at the moment.

We could have won 4-0 and I'd still feel flat.

Don't really care about football at the moment even though I understand we all need a bit of a lift - this shit has to stop but how?

Where's that guy who said Ajax's tea lady has more positional awareness than Pogba?

The problem is that if you let it affect you and stop yourself from doing what you do and what you love then they have achieved what they aimed for. They have won.

As hard as it is you need to look forward and thousands today did that in Stockholm and they respected the victims of the atrocious attack at the start too both with silence and with cheers and claps.

We need to defy the fear and terror they are trying to instill into us and not allow it to affect our way of life.

Can't wait for our Supercup clash against Juve or Madrid. Either way it will be mouthwatering (Ronaldo vs his old club/ Pogba vs his old club/ Mou vs Real) and a nice way to kick off our comeback to the big boys league

Our next competitive match will be against either Real Madrid or Juventus in the UEFA Super Cup. Nice.

The events in Manchester earlier on in the week might have been a possible reason

Of course it could be part of the reason. But the Ajax support was there from very early on, had drums and were very loud during most of the match. They just seemed very well organized. I think we were more anxious too because MUFC lately have been making hard work of matches where we should have won easily. But my point is that regardless, the players were ready mentally. Kudos to Mourinho.
