EL W Europa League Final

Ajax 0:2 Manchester United

Post-match discussion

I also love how the whole Ajax is just a bunch of kids and it's just an Europa League narrative works out. If we win, it was just Ajax full of kids, just Europa, it's nothing, nobody cares, papering over the cracks, we're 6th, etc. But Jesus, should we have lost, it would be a great story of younglings beating the big bad and very, very good Manchester United and us being complete failures to lose to kids, not being able to lift even EL.

Are the crutches real or Mourinho staging a show? Young was on the pitch with both crutches, in the dressing room he was dancing without one

Lolll !

Sorry, something went wrong!

Grats to all United fans. They were really great again and deserve this succes !!!

Speaking with a Liverpool fan in the office this morning and fair play, he said the match was rubbish last night but the result was huge. Kind of how I feel, except I think Mourinho got the tactics spot-on and the win was just so, so vital. I genuinely feel last nights result - whichever way it went - was going to be a massive watershed moment for the club / Mourinho.

Tbf people who are saying that are just salty we won. Yes, they had a very young side, but they were still in the final

See how good it is to win a trophy and qualify for champions league than finishing 4th or 3rd. Important thing is to kick on from here. With jose in charge ,I feel confident.

A bit lucky goals against an Ajax far from its best. The cowardness of Mourinho has rewarded again but wont have made much impression on the footballfans all over the world. United deserves better then Mourinho!
Words fail me. And after what happened in Manchester this week....

Just crawl back into your hole.

My Matt Busby fuchsia's started flowering today. Is this a coincidence or does it show that Matt was very pleased with our victory in the final?

So, Marcus Rashford has been a 1st team footballer for about 15 months.

Hes won the FA Cup, Charity Shield, League Cup and Europa League.

And that is while we are apparently shit, can't wait to see what he can win if we ever get good.
Stuff like this needs more exposure. In four years we have won every domestic trophy there is plus a European competition. Love it.

I thought Traore looked decent last night, although he had no support, Dolberg was anonymous. Strong and pacy, looks like he could he mature into a good striker, I think Mourinho gave him his debut at Chelsea, although whether he will get any real opportunities if he goes into the first team squad remains to be seen.

Totally agree, questions were not just being asked of Utd this season, but Mourinho too. All the comments and questions asking if football had passed him by with new coaches erforming well etc.

Even happier this morning, albeit with a banging hangover sat at my desk in work! Huge result for us, another trophy and the potential to REALLY crack on now - CL football, plenty of cash to spend, lets freshen up the squad with some top signings and go full-bore at the league and CL next season.

Special mention to a man I've slagged off a decent bit the last couple of years.

Marouane Fellaini.

Take a bow, son. You were absolutely immense last night, didn't put a foot wrong. MOTM for me. Smalling and Blind deserve some credit too, they were rock solid.

Dark was the night in Manchester a few days ago. While this trophy will not make it a sunny day, it at least will be a reflection of light for the City. Say the moon and some stars to be guided by. Hope for tomorrow.

As an Ajax fan it's easy to come here and be sour. But it's of no use. I would ask my fellow Ajax fans just to man up. Be happy for what we have shown so far and what we have reached. Let's not be the fly in a good soup or a hair in a tasty cocktail.

Football is not played one way. Finals are hardly beautiful games. We knew we had to play a 9/10 to make a chance. But instead we were a 6/10. Whether it was inexperience, nerves, pressure of the game, too long between last match and finals,it doesnt matter.

I dont like Mourinho's professional personality and his style of play. But he got it spot on. He won the trophy and thats what matters.

Congrats United. Enjoy it as much you can.
And forgive my fellow fans for being, as I am too, disappointed for losing the final.

Absolutely buzzing after last night had just 4 hours sleep and back to work. This victory not just gave us a cup but it means huge for our rebuilding next season.

When it comes to big matches there aren't any better managers in world in nullifying the strengths of opposition team.

Good morning you bastards! :D thank God it's a public holiday in Norway today

Thanks for the post buddy and keep your chin up. It's obviously not the result you wanted but you should be proud that decades after Cryuff and Michels you are still a relevant footballing power and having just fielded what i believe to be the youngest team in European final history the future is very bright.

So, it was anothr one of those totally professional away performances. Nothing wrong with that; although I'd have loved to see a more high-tempo performance and two or three more goals. Performance wise, there were some stand-out players but it was a good all-round team show. Hard to choose a MoM between Faillaini and Darmian, with Blind and (shock) Smalling also right up ther. On a negative, I think we finally discovered that Lingaard's "speed" is a complete myth. Awful second touch when he should have scored a third and Sanchez ate him like you or I would eat a fecking jelly baby. Not many people have mentioned Romero because he had so little to do but he exuded calm and confidence, showing that moron Savage that we didn't need to pick DDG on the night. Can't say i was too happy with players on crutches jumping up and down in celebration - not sure that was what the surgeon recommended ha ha. Good end to the season if a little downbeat and reserved. Now we need to go out and get the players we need to challenge for the PL and CL.

Hilarous ratings in the Metro. Not sure what game they were watching. They gave darmian 5/10, saying he was troubled all night while Rashford got 7/10 because his "pace worried the Ajax centre backs"

Love the injured/suspended lads looking absolutely great in suits for the trophy presentation. Showing John Terry how it's done.

Just like this forum deserves better

Next time we'll ask for an in form Barcelona for the final, we promise, hopefully 'footballfans all over the world' will be pleased then.

I absolutely love how so many people said how Ajax's pressing game would kill us, that they can score goals for fun, how people like Fellaini would be lost due the 'forementioned pressing and blahblahblah. In reality it was 'pass to Traore, hope something nice happens' and Fellaini was the best player on the pitch. Can't even remember one time when 'the pressing' put us on a counter.
It's just like the Celta Vigo game, how they were supposed to murder us in Spain and then when we controlled the match the narrative became they were always a poor side and we were lucky to win. It's music to my ears because throughout the Sir Alex years I was always hearing from rival fans how United were lucky, referee decisions blah blah blah, last minute fluke goal etc. If winning means you were lucky and losing means you were good but unlucky, then better lucky than good I say!

Yeah exactly, the narrative and how it's been twisted for the last couple of weeks is fecking mental.

So emotional after what happened back home.

Not really sure what else to say but thanks United. Can't wait to see you back in the city with our new trophy.

Woke up this morning feeling fine..
well actually not, since I don't drink, this much anyway, got smashed last night, so question: How long till I'm normal again?
Can't stop smiling. Have to go to work, now that will be fun.
And also find out I won a trophy as well, got promoted!! What a two days!
Maybe I should call in sick, because my kitchen is moving around me! wth!
Might start dancing, but afraid of breaking something. Or myself.
Need to lie down. Happy. Life is beautiful.
