EL W Europa League Final

Ajax 0:2 Manchester United

Post-match discussion

I slept off while watching the match as I was sick and it was 1:30 AM here in India, fortunately I woke up at the 90th minute to see the trophy presentation. I don't even remember how much of the match I saw, but I saw the 2 goals. I just hope we kick on from here with a couple of good signings and challenge for the PL title next season.

There are quite a number of us where I work. The floor where I work has been buzzing all morning.

I genuinely can't remember a time when I've complained about how a team played against us to get a result. Play to your strengths. If your opponents play a certain way find a counter to it.

GLORY GLORY MAN UTD!
Enjoyed that! Fellaini, Smalling, Pogba were fantastic. Scenes at the end were great. Made all the angst were went through this season worth it in the end. Well done lads!

For all Ajax's possession, they did absolutely nothing and not once looked dangerous. What does it day about your own team when you have absolutely no answer for long balls to Fellani? Be angry at yourself for letting it happen lad.

The Dutch arrogance which makes them think that their way of football is the right way is highly annoying.

Some of the worst ever football seen at United was at the hands of a Dutch manager. Arguably the best Dutch manager of all time at that.

Dutch football is at a low point with them probably missing another major tournament and they still find the time to preach.

Wow. I think the overwhelming emotion for me is one of relief. Losing this game would have set us back big time and would of had huge consequences for us as a club moving forward (in the short term at least). We can now enjoy the summer, make a few signings, and mount a serious title charge next year while also hopefully having a decent run in the champions league. Come on united!!

I don't blame him as he's probably still bitter about him being dreadful in a match of this magnitude. Despite having loads of possession he didn't manage to anything with it.

Their attitude has always been like that and I think it's been one reason why their NT has never really achieved anything despite loads of talented players in generations past. When you're willing to excuse defeat by claiming your opponent didn't play 'the right way' you just end up as a specialist in failure.

Perhaps he can visit Old Trafford someday and do the museum tour. See what trophies look like.

We have more trophies. So never mind that.

To you and the others: you know its part of an interview. He also said: I take my hat off for how they did it. We play totally different, but they have the trophy. That what matters.

But feel free to just reply on things out of context.

Congratulations on winning a trophy. Always nice to win one.

A forgettable game for the neutral but well done to United. The game needed Ajax to score first and once that didn't happen, there was only one outcome. United were comfortable and better than Ajax who looked overawed.

Even if he said other things that were fairer, it still doesn't justify that comment. To claim the other team didn't play football, unless there was actual cheating going on, is just silly. I can chalk it down to inexperience, but I hope for his sake he doesn't really think that way.

Thanks much for the approval to do so, here, on a Man United site. Now go dust off your old trophies.

We absolutely bossed it last night. Considering all the hype for this Ajax team going into the final we made them look like a Championship side.

Fellaini man of the match for me. I'm not sure how many good games he needs to have until we accept him en masse but for me he's been a great asset ever since Moyes left and, bar the odd awful game/moment of madness which we normally forgive other players for, he's taken to delivering exactly what his managers ask of him.

Were the dutch complaining when De Jong & co nearly bolldozered their way to the 2010 WC?

Do they think it's great football to pass the ball around the penalty area boring everyone to tears, then shooting into the crowd? If so, then they can fecking keep it!

Ajax coach Peter Bosz: "We couldn't play our game today because Utd played long balls. It was a boring game with no chances for both sides."

How would you know?

Congrats to all. I'm relieved. Watched in a bar with dutch fans last night, they ended up breaking most of their amstels.

We didn't hope for the best. He won something like 15 areal duels. We knew it would work 90 percent of the time and help relieve pressure from the press. The had no answer to our style of play. We had an. answer to theirs. Sore LVG style playing lovers. All they did was try to waltz the ball into the goal. Not taking any risky passes and having zero movement.

I was impressed how the CB pressed forward the attack and kept passing the ball to Fellaini or Herrera. Brilliant stuff from their side.

And the little chipped passes into touch....Koeman would have been impressed with that free kick that hit the bottom of the wall. Amazing technique

Thought the Ajax CB Sanchez was superb, some strength on him, caught a couple of times on the ball but defense wise was superb
