Aston Villa 1:1 Manchester United

There was no shape after the sub. Young went over to the right where he was very poor. Had a great game on the left. Di Maria went to the left and became invisible. Had been dangerous up front. The play from the back got screwed up. Relied on Jones and Blackett more to pass the ball instead of Young and Valencia. Wilson didn't add anything to the game that was missing.

LVG should have changed formation to a Diamond with the last sub.'

Dunno why he shifted Young's flank.

Mata was horrible
Fletcher is finished
3 mins added time....Utter farce!
Nice to see Falcao score and he showed some good play and touches
Young was good.
Not a fan of Wilson I have to say
Villa are a plain club, with a plain team.
Rooney was sublime at times with his passing

All I have to say right now. Off to get pissed for my birthday

Completely within his right to do so, but did anybody else get pissed off every time Guzan went to ground for ten seconds every time he caught the ball? That alone made the 3 minutes of added time.

Makes sense when you look at LVGs recent comments. We are/were winning but the performances were pretty poor. Got found out today when we couldn't pull something out the bag/De Gea.

Despite the players we had our tactic seemed to be to play through Ashley Young. Bizarre

and for some reason he turned to complete shit for the last 20 minutes, those crosses, about 5 or 6 of them, yet it was rinse repeat. So frustrating, we had a great chance to win today and we totally bottled it.

A point away from home isn't that bad. We have to be relastic and accept we're not going to challenge for the title, we just need to stay in that top 4 which we will. Our defense is still wrecked by injuries, we're going to be up and down till the injuries clear and we can start fielding a consistent side. Happy for Young and Falcao.

Flat performance. Deserved result. Only time we looked good was a period before we scored. Never too advantage of playing 10 men. Disappointing result, I think the 3 was there for the taking.

Oh yes, and 3 minutes added time? What?

I think LVG made a mistake he said he won't do it. He took off RVP because he wanted to rest him for friday and this killed our game. Really badly dropped 2 points.

Never thought id see myself say we missed Fellaini but yeah, we missed Fellaini.

Absolutely disgusting performance. Villa a man down and still looked more likely to score than us. Don't care if Young got an assist, he's pure shit and wasted so many chances to do something.

Bullshit, he shouldn't have been placed on the right in the first place when he was our best attacker starting from the left. It's just like how Di Maria is wank when he is played on the wings but plays good from a central position.

There are no guarantees RvP would've scored. Wilson provided fresh legs and a bit of pace.

Think the players didn't know who was doing what after the red and the substitutions. Back to the drawing board.

That said, have to credit Villa, who fought way harder than us.

How it was just 3 minutes of added time I'll never know. Should have at least been 5 minutes. Not to forget one moment where some intelligent villa fans wasted half a minute or so by sending the ball backwards.

Meh, it was coming. We'd fluked our way to six wins in a row when only against Hull were we actually worthy of the win. We should have had nine or ten points max from those six fixtures the way we played. It was inevitable luck would stop sliding our way sooner or later and we'd get a result we actually deserved. Even then, I don't think we did, because we were so bad that Villa should have won.

Can't argue with this - something is fundamentally wrong with this team at the moment. The "win is a win" brigade are a short sighted bunch.

3 points dropped really. Today LVG was to blame.

Got the formation wrong in the first half. Changes it for the beginning of the second and we are flying. Finally dominating a subpar villa team.

Then we get a red card decision in our favor. We go and completely butcher our shape/tactics by throwing on Wilson and taking off Valencia.

This really should have been 3 points and we gave them too much respect in the first half.

The 3 minutes of added time was disgraceful too. They spent at least 5 minutes fannying around after the red card.

Mata was useless.
Not for the first time. The difference being that in recent games he's contributed a vital goal or assist and been a passenger for the rest of the game. When he doesn't pop up with one of those vital contributions, then you barely notice he was on the pitch.

Villa are probably the worst side in the league and we still managed to feck it up. Shithouse club, I hope they go down rather sooner than later. LVG fecked up the substitutions, bringing Wilson on was completely pointless, as was taking RVP off.

I can't believe we couldn't beat a team as poor as Villa. 4/18 points away to West Brom, Villa, Leicester, Burnley and Sunderland... my God.

There are no guarantees RvP would've scored. Wilson provided fresh legs and a bit of pace.
Wilson provided next to nothing. Yes you don't know if he would score but he is inform striker ATM and there is good chance he would earned us 3 points.

If Rafael is fit then I really hope we go back to the diamond now we have Di Maria back. How many poor performances do we have to take with this 3-5-2 shit?

Frustrating. Maybe the football gods didn't think it was a red card. Thought Villa outplayed us with 10 men. Thought play was better after Carrick was pushed up. AdM looked rusty-that will improve. Great to see Falcao play 90. Unsure why Wilson subbed for RvP-maybe wanted his pace. Thought D was OK. AdM and Falcao just need to play together-will be great once they're match fit.

Poor all round from almost everyone for most of the game bar Rooney and De Gea.

The passing was horrendous. No zip or purpose. We played the majority of the game like we were seeing out a routine win.

Poor. 3-5-2 is still useless and we didn't create too many chances again.

Good goal from Falcao, should give him a confidence boost.

Poor game, bar 10 minutes in the second half.
Di Maria did well the first 5 minutes he was on then went missing.

I cant belive, with Di Maria, Rooney, Falcao and Mata on the field at the same time, how we can look so... boring.
Its no flair, no one dares to dribble, no "one two´s" in an attacking dirrection.
Its just pass it around in midfield, then out to the wings and hope for a good cross.

Its just one draw after 6 wins so not so bad, but its not the result that worries me a bit, but the play.
We look so boring in lack of another word.

Now i want to see 4 at the back, and Rooney in a offensive position against Newcastle.

Unfortunately the subs killed our momentum. Was shocked this was the game that RVP was subbed given hes stayed on having worse games. Thought him being on would create more space for Falcao too.

Switching Young to the right and Di Maria to the left (and then keeping it like that after it wasnt working) annoyed me. We didnt create a clear chance for 30 minutes against ten men.

Draw was deserved. Two dropped points.

I don't like the formation. Fletcher and Evans aren't good enough to play in a United side anymore. But overall it was just a very dull performance. The sending off wasn't a sending off but I was really disappointed with the way we reacted to it. If anything we slowed down after that.
I've been happy to see Wilson getting time but I think I'd rather see Januzaj getting minutes. He adds more quality and when we were looking for a killer pass rather than pace in behind I felt it was the wrong sub.
Mata needs to get more involved. When you are playing as an attacking midfielder and we have so much of the ball he needs to contribute more than what he's doing. He is the type of player we needed to stand up and make something happen. He has been bought to be making that killer pass not to offload it to Young or Valencia every time. I would have brought on Di Maria for Mata and left RVP on.

...but it's an indictment of LvG that we still aren't able to attack better.

You do realise that we are one of the most in-form teams of the league?
We are in 3rd place and virtually nobody expected us to be in this position, on December.
LvG is a great manager, but today, his subs didnt work out.

Wilson provided next to nothing. Yes you don't know if he would score but he is inform striker ATM and there is good chance he would earned us 3 points.

If there was a good chance it would've happened by then. He didn't seem like scoring any more than anyone else. The thinking with Wilson was probably to infuse our approach with pace whilst they were down to 10.

Meh. At least this way the gap between ourselves and Chelsea is so big that it's unlikely we'll get our hopes up again about a title challenge, yet the gap between ourselves and 5th place is enough that it's unlikely we'll be uncomfortable for 4th.

Villa were garbage, and there for the taking after going down to 10. We didn't go for the throat, as we should have done. Getting an early goal in the 2nd half and then Villa getting the red card, I felt that a win was inevitable. Disappointing performance from then on.

The back 3 is grim to watch. You really miss that extra man in midfield. We looked better in the 2nd half with Carrick in midfield, but you still feel a man down when in possession.

Good to see Falcao get a goal and play 90 minutes. Hopefully he'll kick on, as he played well overall.

RVP coming off was a strange choice as he was playing alright and he's in form. Especially after all the lousy games he's played the full 90 for.

I felt the speed in our play was very slow today, especially when Villa went down to ten men, which meant they were able to set up as a team and stay compact. We had a lot of possession, but didn't do a whole lot with it, to be honest.

And as much as some would not like to admit it, we missed Fellaini in that game.
Don't agree, we didn't need physicality, we needed creativity and speed.

Poor choice of starting line up.

Have no idea what is happening with Evans, our most experienced FB and yet this season he has been absolute toss.

Bringing on Wilson did not help, moving Young to the Right did not help. Not playing Rooney behind the strikers was poor decision. Mata had a bad day at the office.

I said before the game we wouldn't win. It just felt like it'd be one of those days.
Yeah. I mean, when you win 6 straight you're bound to have one of these games at some point. There's always that shite team you play away from home and they perform above their usual level.

I personally think we're somewhat fortunate to get the draw.

Poor game, bar 10 minutes in the second half.

No coherence tbh, LVG just threw all his toys at the same time.

Fletcher is finished at this level. The Di Maria substitution killed our momentum RVP was not playing well but taking him off changed our team shape and with 3 wide players on at the same time the players looked confused.

The 'hoof it and hope' strategy doesn't really work when we don't have Fellaini in there.

We needed another playmaker besides ADM who can beat a man off the dribble and create something. The last 20 minutes were pointless...
