And when we have Southampton (H) we will resort to mediocre
Well done. Great performance, reasons for loads of optimism .. immediately come in with a prediction of negativity. You must be great fun.

I read a book to my daughter called Mr. Miserable. This is like something he'd say.

Brighton without Maupay and Mooy two of their best players. We shouldn't be getting carried away but our starting 11 is close to being very good.

Get a Shaw replacement or promote Williams and we're talking. Add Sancho and it's game over.
Despite the fact that we've proven all season long that we can compete with the big boys ... and these are the exact games and teams we've struggled with? So, we shouldn't be excited that the new signing in Bruno looks like being the key to being able to unlock teams that sit back, teams we've lost points to all season?

Jesus wept.

Excellent performance. The starting xi looks a match for anyone. We've been rejuvenated by Fernandes. What an impact he's having.

It was a good win and a great diplay or about 60minutes. After that we see where are short-comings are:
If Bruno or Paul get suspended or injured for any length of time we don't yet have the back up for them. We need another creative midfielder. My choice was Ziyech as he can play either as a 10 or a right winger. Given he is gone I would go for Grealish. We also desperately need a right winger who can work in small spaces when teams defend in numbers. James is not that and Mason will eventually be a center forward.

Please... we are two summer windows from competing for the league. We don't have squad depth. First 11 are fine but there is a huge drop off after Bruno/Pogba.

I see a few comments like this after yesterday. Personally I think a better centre forward, left back and centre half are needed but I’m not sure the argument about the bench is correct. 1. Look at Liverpool: Lovren, Matip, Origi are a big step below the first eleven 2. If we buy top class players and leave them on the bench won’t we end up with a very unhappy and divided dressing room?

Not taking away from Liverpool but it seems to me that their remarkable injury record is a massive factor. They don’t have great squad depth but still won by a cricket score.

Good win but let's not get carried away. Brighton is 3 places above the bottom 3.
It's good form but so much to improve. Their keeper didn't have to make many saves. DeGea made better saves.
We are still not going to compete either with Liverpool, City and even Chelsea with this team. We need a couple of better players and a better bench too.
Wow. Yeah. You could say that.

Course, you could point out ... De Gea made the better saves ... when the game was already dead and buried. Their keeper didn't have saves to make because our lads were putting the ball away. Don't forget, we hit the post, and Pogba's shot was possibly heading in from the rebound but for a good block, while the keeper was scrambling.

Their keeper didn't make saves because we didn't give him a chance to. And, after scoring 3 goals, there was zero impetus to push on and try to score more, thus leaving ourselves open.

We're not going to compete with those teams? Really? We've beaten City a couple of times this year. We're just behind Chelsea. Liverpool are a class apart, yes. But to say we can't compete with Chelsea with this team? God almighty.

Brighton & Hove were poor but it was still easily our best performance of the season
Brighton had been unbeaten since the restart, and they even beat the mighty Arsenal. I was genuinely worried this game was going to be a banana skin.

And I don't think they played that badly. They would have beaten our starting lineup against Norwich on Saturday quite convincingly, I think.

Bruno is the best signing Utd has done since Van Persie.

If Leicester and Chelsea drop points today I'll be a very happy man.

Great result, grear performance! Really enjoyed watching it.

For a firts time in a long time, you can sit back and relax watching United, knowing that we will win.

Bruno and Pogba are so confident and look like real winners. Other players start looking confident also.

Suddenly there's many leaders in team. Pogba, Bruno, Matic, Maguire.

...boasting about giving his daughter anxiety issues.

A bit worried about Rashford. Hasn't had a good game since returning. Hope he is saving it for Chelsea, in Wembley. We need everyone to give 110% in last 6 Premier League games. Win them all and see where it takes us. Another good team performance against Brighton, keep it up men.

I'm not even remotely worried. He's just taking his time to find his feet after a long layoff, along with a bad injury. He'll be fine.

One of the best team performances for quite some time. Never in danger of dropping points. That said, Martial summed up my feelings: one game where he shines followed by one where he might as well have stayed in Manchester. I agree with those who mention Rashford's lack of form too. Greenwood is by far the most natural finisher the club right now. Positives: all those who were attacking Matic (as many did Rooney, Carrick etc) need to eat their words. He has come back in terrific form. Also Pogba seems a bit more settled when not being the one under the spotlight or "main man". Defence looked solid and Shaw has also looked great - maybe the enforced rest helped him. Lindelof and Maguire looked untroubled and DDG barely had anything to do. Still think we need another world-class midfielder (maybe a winger) and another top top goal scorer.

Didn't he get two assists in the game before this one?

He hasn't scored but it's not like he's done nothing

Because their manager was shit scared of us and went defensive from get go,

Not shit scared, we were saving our best players for Norwich on Saturday, three points there is more important to us.

That said, Martial summed up my feelings: one game where he shines followed by one where he might as well have stayed in Manchester.

I would disagree with this, Martial might have been quiet, but both he and Rashford were instrumental in pulling our defence out of shape on a number of occassions. That's what so good about the 'MMM' line up the way they switch around, one or even two maybe quiet interms of goals but they scare the shit out of defences becasue you never know who to mark, add Bruno and Pogba lurking at the edge of the box and it is a powerful attack regardless. Gone are the days when you could double mark Pogba and keep United quiet.

NO, I never said he has done nothing. I mean he is not the same as he was before his injury. He is not as explosive. Maybe just maybe he is not fully match fit yet.

I don't get the dislike for Shaw, what am i missing? he's been playing well these paste few games and especially before the break.

He offers nothing in attack. Defensively he's not great in the air and his sense of positioning has never been all that either. I've never thought he was a great player and he's a poor excuse of an athlete constantly overweight over his 6 year career at Utd. Rather he was replaced with someone who really wants to be a top player for club and country.

What is this Williams hype? Seriously, you want him in over Shaw? What the hell is Shaw doing wrong? William won't be hear in another 3 years pal. Shaw still will be

You should timestamp that and check it in 3 years. Williams is already the more mobile, fitter, in shape, aggressive tackler, more meaningful forward runs, better passer.

Luke Shaw is a fool stumbling around a pitch and always has been.

He’s not just marginally less fit after lockdown, like everyone else. He’s coming back after almost half a year out with a broken fecking back. I think we can cut him a little more slack.

Because their manager was shit scared of us and went defensive from get go, we hardly needed to get out of second gear this certainly bodes well for our future.
Shaw is couple of levels above Williams currently he is least of our concern right now.

I disagree. Replacing Shaw as a starter should be our main concern. The rest of the starting 11 picks itself now.

You must be arguing with someone else or yourself. Not what I said at all.

Unless you're a relative of Luke Shaw theres no reason for you to reply to my post like that.

Genuinely look forward to every game now. We are building something great. I don't even know if we need Sancho at this point. I would bring in a box to box midfielder and another creative midfielder for depth as well as a shaw replacement.

of course we need Sancho, and also we need some good CDM.We don’t have depth outside first XI - the only players who can come on without drop in quality are Williams and Bailly, and situationally Ighalo. Fred and McTominay are a few tiers below Pogba and Bruno, as is Daniel James.

Yes, your right Pogue. You are jumped on here and picked up wrong. I am delighted to have Rashford back. I just close my eyes when someone tackles him now, afraid of another injury to his back. He was explosive before his injury.
I just meant that maybe we should ease him back in, as an injury to your back like he has had is very serious. I just want to see him Fully Fit again.

We don't know if Liverpool can be consistent with this level of success -- I think they have been lucky with their injuries.

City is a better example -- the depth of their squad is what we need to attain. KDB and Kun have been in & out injuries for the past few years and yet...

This was better than Sheffield game
I don't know about that. Sheffield was more complete both offensively and defensively. We didn't give them a sniff in that game whereas in this game we sort of let off a bit in the second half and allowed them to pressure us a bit for a while.

Sheffield game was a complete and total dominance where they even gave up after an our and we just passed the ball around to finish the game. This game though had the best attacking moment(that counterattack display).

The Sheffield game felt more dominant in my opinion given we didn't give them even the tiniest of foothold in the game.

I for one just see a muppet stumbling around a football forum

I don't think people are truly appreciating how difficult it would be for a lot of players to get back to match speed after that lockdown - let alone an injury + lockdown.

I was talking about the "We shouldn't be getting carried away" part.

DDG did his bit when called into action - that first save was glorious and it's nice to be able to say that.

I suppose in a weird way, the less said about your goalkeeper, the better

Rashford was poor, and is currently missing from the party. Hopefully with more minutes he will get more involved and sharper.

I thought that Perriera and McT were poor when they first came on, but after 10 minutes they were fine...especially Andreas.

Very good win, need to keep up with this, and I don't want to jinx it, but I wouldn't be shocked if we finish top 4, and win Europa.

That's the spirit.
I hope we can click on and go on a long run where we dominate games and confindence builds but , sorry to be pessimistic, I don’t feel it happening. I’ve no answer but we seem predicable and easy to contain.

Shout out to Dave, really wanted that clean sheet, fair play to him and keep it up!

Rashford is either not fit or thinks he's Harry Kane, not in the game and playing too deep.

Wan Bissaka was a little cracker, loved some of the skills he showed and defensively as good as we're coming to expect from him.

Bruno and Pogba :drool::drool:
