Cardiff City 1:5 Manchester United

Post-match discussion

That’s the sort of Manchester United I grew up watching and loved!

Take a bow lads, you were all f****** brilliant out there!

Oh man. Five goals, good performances from every player on the pitch, nice attacking football, quick passes, pressing, awesome fans, this game had it all. Yes, it was against Cardiff but who cares? Much needed victory and performance. So happy right now. Love you Ole!

Genuinely couldn’t have dreamt for a better first performance. Yeah there will be tougher games, but the swagger we played with from the first minute we’ve barely seen since Fergie retired, it’s that simple.

Proper football performance of the season. Play full 90 mins without defending and in total control. Let's win the next 5.

Just shows what a difference a bit of positivity can bring when confidence is low. Great win, a happy weekend for the first time in god knows how long.

DAMN!!!!
5 goals in a league game since 2013.
Moyes tried. LVG tried. Jose tried. All failed.
Solkjaer came and did it in his first match.

Amazing.

There are wankers on here that thought our players couldn’t play attacking football or entertain.

Well, they can. Just bloody let them.
Wankers for sure. Worst teams than us showed more attacking intent so it's no surprise. Let's wait for better opposition

Dream start for Ole but even if you try to look at things objectively you can see the impact of Mourinho being gone. At 3-1 Fellaini would be coming on at HT or at the 60th minute and we would've sat back and let Cardiff play in front of us. Just a simple change in attitude has lifted the players so much. Pogba's best game in a while, Lingard played well, Martial played well and Rashford played well minus the silly pen. I will not get carried away thinking we'll destroy teams from now on but no one can deny that there is a positive vibe around the club and that hasnt been there for more than a year.

Absolutely brilliant. Attack is the best form of defence, but there was a vibrancy and intricacy to our play which we haven’t seen for ages.

Like they've been saying on BT Sports. The result is one thing, but I think the most impressive thing was the way we played and dominated the game.

That was fun. Not to be confused with a formula for long term success but great day.

This is what happens when you start a match with high intensity and when you keep that intensity up and go for more goals rather than trying to protect a lead.

Also how much difference does it make when you press from the front and win the ball in the opposition half.

Said it earlier and I'll say it again. Remember when austerity hit and everyone started getting fecked over with their wages, pensions, public services etc? But eight years on people were looking at their shit stained trousers made out of old copies of The Sun, their one tin of beans that was meant to last them the whole week, and their cardboard box being blown over by the draft of Mr Moneybags' second new Merc he had bought that year and we said "Well, it's always been like this so what can you do?!" But deep down we knew that it wasn't always like this, we had just forgotten what it was like in the time before we had to give out gobbies around the back of the food bank for an electric meter card with a fiver stuck on it.

This feels exactly the same. After five years of tumescent shit, uncertainty and a lack of identity we've already hit the ground running with passion and intent.

This is deep bruv, but well said.

Seeing that 5-1 scoreline is so satisfying.

Early days, I know, but I'm excited to see how we perform against PSG.

The confidence in the players to go do that, the movement up front, attacking full backs, the composure in possession... so much fun to watch! Great start for Ole, now to build on it.

I think they’d have won that one with Mourinho in charge but stats would suggest not as emphatically and without any momentum going forward.

Now Old Trafford will be buzzing with anticipation for the next game.

Definitely worth staying up until 4:30am for. Really enjoyed that. The fact that I was shocked when we scored the first two goals tells a story.

Give it Ole till end of eternity. That's pretty much my sentiments after watching that.

Also, Neil Warnock looks like James Woods if James Woods had lived his whole life with a progressively worse smell lingering on his upper lip.

Every time I see Michael Oliver's face my hand balls up into a fist.

This right here.
Phelan killing off the game with his midfield subs at the 70th minute mark sealed it. It allowed us to keep pressure up front and in midfield rather than the usual 'deep block' killing off games with a half assed counter attack set up

Hopefully all the players are excited and want to be part of the starting eleven now and they will compete for spots off and on the pitch.

Sir Alex should have a smile on his face right now. Nice start from his boy Ole.

Not going to get too carried away, but when we attack our players, who some labelled as poor, look very good.

Attacked from start to finish today.

Very good performance today.

What we need now is to do that on a more consistent basis. Our performance levels cannot drop.

That was United.

Lowkey kind of excited to see Lukaku and how he will play in this attacking mentality we had today. I honestly think he will start to do really well.

it'll be interesting to see how united play at old trafford now. this is what they should be doing to these teams routinely.... scoring 3, 4, 5
