Post-match discussion

What a brilliant match. Wasn't a single bad performance today, Matic, Herrera and Pogba were fantastic together, Matic was outstanding. Rashford, Martial and Lingard were a joy to watch, such intelligent movement and link up play between the three of them. I know it's only one game but that was fecking United, it's surreal seeing Solskjaer in the dugout. You can tell how much the players were enjoying themselves. Honestly don't know who I'd give MOTM to, everyone was fantastic.

Mourinho fans: "It was only Cardiff"

That Martial goal. The buildup, the passing, the finish...sublime

It's almost like Mourinho was the problem and the players aren't actually that bad after all...

Wow who knew those players could run, they can move, they can press and they can actually pass the ball

Cardiff were awful but this would have been a slog under the previous regime

Actually looking forward to the next game now

So.... Jose was the problem after all?

Woooooooo. 20legend

The movement and one touch football was a joy to watch. Hopefully we can build on this.

All Ole had to is remind the players why they at Manchester United and BOOM!!!

From "hope we can match their level" to this... it's been some lean years. OGS and SAF 3 letters... Illuminati confirm?

It might only be Cardiff but that was brilliant, it was the most Man United display I've seen in a long time. Everyone had a great game and can't wait for Boxing day football for hopefully more of the same.

Where are all the Pogba and Martial haters, you were actually convinced these 2 were rubbish just because they were told to play CB for the last 2 years!

Enjoyed that, and it was so obvious we could play like that.

Not going to get carried away but if we continue playing like that win or lose I will be happy to have been entertained!

I mean even if I temper my sheer glee and happiness that this was one game against a pants side, I don't mind if we lose the next game, those kind of performances are why we are fans of this club.

Bravo.

I was wrong, Jose was the problem. Ole is the answer. Keep your Pochettino Spurs. I'm happy to have one of our own pushing our philosophy in the hotseat.

Please let's not go there

Thank you Ole for restoring my passion for Manchester United. Wonderful stuff.

Finally playing some good attacking football !!! Not a single player had a bad game.

I swear if it's Mourinho we win by 1-0 at the end. Please don't point out the Fulham win because Cardiff were much better today than Fulham were.

We just carved them open time and time again with positive one touch passing and full backs/center backs going forward to create space. Never had we done this under Mourinho.

That 3rd goal was a thing of beauty and the players looked completely transformed. I'd forgotten how it feels to actually enjoy a game of football!

Absolutely buzzing.

Reminded me of the 5-1 against Fulham in 06/07

Said it earlier and I'll say it again. Remember when austerity hit and everyone started getting fecked over with their wages, pensions, public services etc? But eight years on people were looking at their shit stained trousers made out of old copies of The Sun, their one tin of beans that was meant to last them the whole week, and their cardboard box being blown over by the draft of Mr Moneybags' second new Merc he had bought that year and we said "Well, it's always been like this so what can you do?!" But deep down we knew that it wasn't always like this, we had just forgotten what it was like in the time before we had to give out gobbies around the back of the food bank for an electric meter card with a fiver stuck on it.

This feels exactly the same. After five years of tumescent shit, uncertainty and a lack of identity we've already hit the ground running with passion and intent.

Well said

That was a joy to watch. I actually found us exciting to watch. That's a strange but wonderful feeling. Our passing was crisp and the football had an urgency to it. Played were finding each other with ease. The pressing was quite effective albiet nothing out of the ordinary. And everything just seemed positive, attack oriented and cohesive in a way it's not been for a long time.

Of course it's just the start and it's too early to definitively understand what tactical choices Ole prefers and if those ideas are good, how good he actually is implementing them, but it was a terrific start.

So happy. Really good start.

Just want to find enjoyment for the rest of the season. Summer will get sorted in time.

Long way to go but Ole is right to try and instil an identity first of all. Everything else will follow. Loads of hard work to do.

Worth repeating. Spot on.

Possibly the first time I've enjoyed watching us since that 6 month period with Van Gaal where we bossed everybody.

Yes, it's "only" Cardiff but we've not made weaker teams look like weaker teams for a long time. It was assertive and dominant from start to finish.

5 goals, 17 shots, 75% possession. Couldn't be a bigger difference from Mourinho

Fantastic, first games under new managers are always hard to judge because everyone wants to make an impact so the workrate and application can be a bit misleading about what to expect but just the general attitude and intent was great to watch. Hopefully once things settle down a bit and we face tougher opposition we'll still see the same type of performance.
