PL W FA Premier League

Cardiff City 1:5 Manchester United

Post-match discussion

Lovely, that's more like it, how Mourinho found it so hard to coach a performance like that is baffling from one of the so called best managers ever but whatever, that's the past. Hopefully we can take advantage of the easy fixtures and close the gap some more on Chelsea now.

Special mention on Lindelof, he was pressing, decisive, strong and overall brilliant.

Absolutely chuffed.

Somehow I won £1.5k on this game, somehow we scored 5 goals, somehow we played amazing attacking football.

Thanks Ole.

This is why mou got the sack, it would've probably been a boring 1-0 victory. I really hope Ole keeps it up, we might havr solved our long term manager solution.

Playing with freedom of expression, movement ... the United way... Attack, attack, attack.

We killed it today.

I live in China so I used to sit up through the night to watch United games. But this season I stopped. I have barely stayed up to watch any United games this season. Because of the managerial change, I decide to go to bed late and watch this one (it's currently 3:31 and my girlfriend isn't happy!) but so glad I did.

Playing like that against better teams like City or Liverpool we may come unstuck, but for the rest of this season I say "so what"?

We could easily have drawn or lost this game under Mourinho. There is so much talent in this squad that if they play with this abondon against 90% of the teams in the PL, we will win. It reminded me of the Ferguson "how many can you score? We'll score a feckload more" mentality.

Way to go United. Loved, loved, loved it.

He must have had a huge say on Ole coming and the advice he must have given to Ole before today's match.
Yep for sure. Ole will consistently consult him as well, that's what I would do if I were in his position.

Lovey, Sexy, beautiful, attacking, positive, risky football. All the things we bloody should be playing week in week out.

Small steps onto the next game.

Its cheesy but what the hell, that was a 5 star performance by the lads. Everyone of them had an extra spring in their step, they all looked like they were enjoying playing football. Even when players were substituted they looked disappointed not in a bad way, but because they wanted to play and enjoy playing more. Huge improvement not only in playing positive football, but also in the mentality and body language. Only negative would be the defending, we still need to improve in that, maybe Jones not start the next game, cause Lindelof looked great.

Great performance.
Felt good watching United again.
The thrill...
Ole ole ole.....
Teams should get scared of having to play United again.
Just can't stop smiling.
GGMU.
Between Rashford and Lindelof as motm for me.

I know it was only Cardiff, but what a game.

After our first goal, if Jose was still in charge, we would have dropped off, invited pressure and probably finished the game either drawing or hanging on.

Well done lads.

Different class today, thought everyone was at it. Plenty of mistakes, but the right attitude throughout. Thought Lingard was on a whole new level today - like Mata's more athletic brother. Pogba grew into it too, and Martial and Rashford were threats throughout.

I'll enjoy this, but there's a whole lot of work to do to turn us into a machine again. Cardiff were poor, and while that was partially us making them look bad.....they're not very good. Great energy though, and great seeing Carrick, Ole and Phelan all next to each other.. There's something to be said for the club being run from within...

OGS understands the club heritage better than José did. Hopefully this type of footy continues under his reign.
Btw, what a crazy leap; managing Molde to Man Utd. :D

Amazing. Simply amazing.

How the simple change of a manager can transform a team on the pitch.

Brilliant. Makes me excited about the kind of talent we could add at this side. A rb, a cb, a cm, a c.f., a right winger too. Could improve ourselves a lot

To put that into perspective. Below are Premier League stats. We've only won an Away game by a 4 goal margin twice in 5 and a half seasons. Big result.

Moyes:
Away games: 18
Away games won with 3 goal margin: 3
Away games won with 4 goal margin: 1

Lvg:
Away games: 38
Away games won with 3 goal margin: 1
Away games won with 4 goal margin: 0

Jose:
Away games: 47
Away games won with 3 goal margin: 2
Away games won with 4 goal margin: 1

Ole:
Away games: 1
Away games won with 3 goal margin: 0
Away games won with 4 goal margin: 1

Cardiff won 4 of their last 5 home matches.

To lose 5-1 at home is huge.
Yep, was just looking up their recent home stats. They started the season poorly but have improved recently. Still fancy them to go down, but that was a really good performance from us.

Very good performance, had some very good first half’s this season (Watford, Burnley & Fulham) but it’s the first time we have done it in both half’s

Lovely, that's more like it, how Mourinho found it so hard to coach a performance like that is baffling from one of the so called best managers ever but whatever, that's the past.

This is the question that I'd like answered. In fact, I'd like Jose to answer it, because I am baffled.
Arguably one of the best manager in the World, struggled. Ole (nowhere near the best manager) comes along and scores 5 goals in his first match in charge. Jose could not score 5 in 2.5 years!

I'm completely baffled.

This is the last time I mention Mourinho but I hope that the self-centred cowardly poisonous piece of scummy pus never sets foot in Old Trafford again.

Now here's an idea, why not play football in the opposition half, why not move, pass, run, attack and not be afraid of your bloody shadow. Why not take a few risks.

Most entertaining and enjoyable match by United for years. Instead of having one or two players around the box we had six or seven even when we were 4-1 up.

The whole team played well but Pogba and Martial were excellent. Martial's goal was brilliant.

Even if we had lost it's like a massive weight has been lifted from the whole team. Players playing with confidence which must have been difficult. We have the players, we just had a moronic coward in charge of them.

Was a brilliant performance from the team. In a good setup every single player looks good and that's why under performing players like Jones and Matic looked great today. Best thing is that the scoreline truly reflects our performance .

February 2016 - The last time we scored five goals (vs Midgetland in the Europa League)
November 2013 - The last time we scored five goals away (vs Leverkusen in the Champions League)
May 2013 - The last time we scored five goals in the Premier League (vs West Brom away, SAFs final game)
March 2012 - The last time we scored five goals in a Premier League win away from home (vs Wolves)

One of the major positives from that game is that we conceded, kept our heads up, and scored an outstanding team goal in seconds. No fear, no pressure, bang. Glorious stuff.

We've got our team back
