PL W FA Premier League

Cardiff City 1:5 Manchester United

Post-match discussion

Sat, 22 December 2018

It was fantastic to see some positivity and some goals today. The quality of the goals too, very high standard of stuff. We need to keep going with this forward line for as much as we can. Give them a chance to gel even more. A few defensive additions and we could be in a much better place.

I haven’t been this happy about United for a long time, even if that’s seems small time and just for one game. Simply good to be positive and look forward to the next game again, that’s all you can ask for as a fan of the club. Thank you Ole.

Many details in that win:
1- Ole is smiling most of the time, he enjoys the pressure and him self.
2- Ole let the players get some of their lost confidence back and you can easily see it.
3- they pass a lot very few maybe 2 or 3 long balls even from our full back and CBs!
4- hunger and desire, yes it is Cardiff but players for first time in a long time everyone wants to give his best
5- Talking positive a out the players before and after the game.

All seem manager effect for me.

Another thing you could feel is that players were closing down and putting in a lot of effort, not because they HAD to, but because they genuinely wanted to and wanted to really make that effort. There's a burning desire to create the maddest goals.

I don't think it was a coincidence that Rashford, Herrera and Lingard were all doing the knee slide to celebrate their goals. They're loving having Ole back and the impact he's had on the team spirit so far.

Must be like finding an oasis in the desert after dealing with Mourinho and his shiteball for two years.

Have to maintain the work ethic for all games. No use winning one and dropping points then the next game.

The main one for me was seeing him on his feet in the dugout, showing support, advice, enthusiasm. It was great to see, even from a Liverpool supporter! Mourinho just went through the motions for the sake of it, Solskjaer actually gave a damn.

I have always said United have the players, many I would take happily to LFC, however only yesterday did they look like the players they are instead of the players Mourinho created.

Of course it wont be as fun watching United not boring everyone to death while they lose, however they are, albeit only after 1 game, a bit more enjoyable to watch.

I don't care what anyone says. That team I saw yesterday were a different animal to the team I've watched under Mounriho's whole tenure. We've always had the quality.

Don't care if it was only Cardiff as usually playing someone rubbish doesn't stop us moping about the pitch.

The difference was so huge you have to wonder what has been going on. You can't just lay it on individuals like Pogba as he wasn't the only one who looked like a different player today. It was the first time in an age I've seen a United side look like they enjoy playing and have a point to prove at the same time.

Not so much about who the opponent was as whether we can keep that kind of performance up rather than it be a one off. If we do I don't think anyone will be that annoyed if we still find it difficult in the tougher games.

How is Lingard turning into Messi? I don't know. I thought Messi Lingard was just a joke.

That was brilliant, i don't think i have anything to add that hasn't already been mentioned but seriously when was the last time we played so well for 90 minutes straight ?

What can you say about this week and that performance? I'm not sure if I've felt as happy since SAF retired. Well done boys, keep it up.

Also, if Warnock manages to keep Cardiff up he should be a contender for manager of the season.

Thanks. It's a great watch. Very heartening to see people like Rooney still care for the club.
I really feel like Rooney has enhanced his reputation since leaving - he’s been fantastic in the MLS (both in performance and attitude), he’s given some good punditry, and he’s shown a fair amount of United love. Legend.

What I loved about ole's post match press conference was the reassurance to our players that they are good enough. It pissed me off to no end when Mourinho would mope into conferences telling the world his players werent good enough and expected a response from them.

Sorry but its an absolute horse shit way about managing. Even if you know and think the players arent good enough, as a manager your job is to get the best out of what ever you have at your disposal. Win and lose as a team and it should not be a case of "We dont have the quality of players necessary to compete", it should be "we are under-performing at the moment, but we are taking steps to rectify that". Same fecking statement but worded so that nobody gets upset. Mourinho's man management was and is diabolical.

Terrific performance and result but please don't be fooled, the Glazers have a mgr in place who won't be asking for any funds and is essentially a yes man!

Also forgot to add there wasn't a hoof in sight today. All the players were fully committed to playing on the ground with lots of quick passing. DDG has to work on his distribution though, there's room for improvement

Really trying hard not to get carried away by this result but feck me I’m over the moon

Problem is he was bought for a Jose team but was the wrong type of player for a Jose team as he has never been a target man that will just sit there and win you aerial balls and hold up play. Going off of today I think he would fit far better playing like we did today and bang in the goals as he is best off the shoulder running on to stuff.

Exactly. There is a perception that Lukaku can only play as the lone big center forward bulldozing past central defenders. But he is much more than that. I reckon if he is given more freedom to drift and attack the line, he will prosper

What a game. Dream start. That's how we want to see us playing regularly. Like Solskjaer said, play our own game, and let the oppositions worry about us. Pace, movement, pressing and running non stop at both ends. Everybody pakyed their part at both ends. Good to see.

“[We have] Good players, very, very good players, talented players, today they've approached the game properly, they've worked hard, one of the things I talked about is that a Manchester United team should never ever be outworked, doesn't matter what team you play, you should run more than them and then your skills will give you a chance of winning again.”
Ole

Wasn't there stats that shows we are one of the least running teams around or something. Good to see Ole adressed that.

And Lukaku have been saying that we'll see us play faster because we have been training that way. I would like to think behind the scenes Mckenna and Carrick have been training the squad that way of playing. It's just that now the players have the right instructions and confidence to show it on the pitch.

Can't wait for the next game.

Wow... what a turnaround in the football we play, haven’t seen that from us in ages. Telling since this is also the first time we scored 5 in a league game since fergie’s Last game!

I know, we still need to be grounded about this appointment but if this performance becomes the norm I would be more than happy to keep solskjaer regardless of if we make top4.
