Also forgot to add there wasn't a hoof in sight today. All the players were fully committed to playing on the ground with lots of quick passing. DDG has to work on his distribution though, there's room for improvement
This stood out to me. We've looked so desperate with hoof balls to Lukaku.

I didn't really notice DDG making mistakes on distribution.

Really enjoyed that but get a grip lads.
It was Cardiff.
They are muck.
We should be thumping them 5-1.
I’m a curmudgeon .

Although it was only Cardiff it was only West Ham it was only Brighton.

The point for me is that this is the sort of game you’d expect us to win but we’d make it difficult.

I agree there’s nothing to get carried away about but it’s nice to see us put a team away not go one up and sit back or grind out a 1-0 last minute.

Yet we haven't been thumping this sort of muck like that since SAF left. The result itself isn't some sort of Christmas miracle sent to Earth by the Gods, but in the context of the last five years it certainly feels that way.

We took risks and the players are free to express themselves, rather than Mourinho's strict formation and tactic and being disciplined. A great start and enjoy the game. Feel it has been so long to be entertained again.

I'm getting carried away by the score line. Two things did it for me today,

1) When cardiff scored, their heads didn't drop, the lads kept on playing.

2) We actually showed our quality and we won. In the past, the wins always looked labored, asif we are not good enough.

I hope this is signs of things to come. I've always wanted the boys to show their quality and lets see how the opponent respond rather than getting dominated by every single team in the fecking league.

Enjoyed the game. Okay, it was Cardiff, as people are saying but we haven't been playing this way for a long time. Well done!

What I love about Ole is that in every interview, he talks and speaks like a United fan who happens to be the caretaker manager. That ''I cant fookkin' believe its happening'' enthusiasm and passion that underlies his responses. A 'one of us' sort of projection.

Enjoy it while it lasts.

Not gonna comment too early, but I've got a lot of faith in the first eleven we are capable of putting out - particularly the attackers.

We played football. Cardiff with all due respect aren't the barometer by which we judge performance however our boys played football today.

Loving Ole and the energy he is bringing to our club. We can do this fam. (As in work towards success lol)

Players were putting extra shift and ran hard. There was pace which was missing earlier. I hope that is not just one game for fresh new manager and then go back to laziness.

Even Lindelof and Jones were joining the attacks during open play. Brilliant
Lindelof looked like a completely different player. It seems we've been wasting his talent by not allowing him to bring the ball out more. We have a genuinely technically gifted centre-back who was, for whatever reason, told by Mourinho to play like the technically limited Chris Smalling. Or maybe he wasn't explicitly told to play that way, but was too terrified of Mourinho to take any risks on the ball.

5 goals, 17 shots, 75% possession. Couldn't be a bigger difference from Mourinho

More like 75%, 4 shots. Mourinho tried to make United into an 08/09 Chelsea. They most-likely would have dominated the ball, but only 1 goal.

one thing though... 90% guaranteed they will smash huddersfield now. mourinho will be humiliated if united go on a massive win streak now.

basically he's demanding high tempo... when you say that to the media. setting a benchmark.

Thought it might take a number of games for the philosophy to set in. Not the case for OGS!

Just unleash them!

Some of my friends are arguing that this was Cardiff - they are a poor side, let's not get carried away - this is a team we should beat any day.

And I agree - if this was under Ferguson. But Cardiff at home is not an easy club to beat, regardless of them being a fairly poor side. They have lost big once all season and that was City 0-5. Apart from that they have lost by 1 goal in quite a few matches (Arsenal, Burnley, Leicester) - and won 3 in a row after that.

Would we have beaten Cardiff under Mourinho ? I honestly don't think so.

Just woken up and the first thing that came into my head was the match, wasn't dreaming!
If United were a rock band, for the first time in years they actually plugged in their instruments and ramped the amps up to 11!

Saw everything we did not get to see with Jose. Specially on the latter stages of his stint with us. Almost got a tear in my eye. Great result and performance! You don't have to be a football genius to understand that the outcome would have never been the same with Jose in charge. Martial's goal would not have happened.

Trying to keep myself calm and not get too carried away but this was really nice and enjoyable to watch. Something which has not been the case with our time for far too long.

media are just weird. Asking if Pogba and Lingard have progressed since the last time Ole was here. wtf?

What do you feel when the goal goes in? Like seriously?

I wonder who Jose would blame the win on today, he doesn't deserve any respect from United fans. He always made it about him, Ole is here no time and made it about the
team Matic getting subbed was like something out of the twilight zone. Not carried away because it's Cardiff but it's so much better than what we've had to watch. The biggest thing for me is the shape was loose like possession, the players could decide how they were on the ball. It didn't have to go negatively back, they had the option of doing a one two through the middle workout fear. Jose set the bar so low, tried to make us believe that we weren't capable of a result like that.

The main one for me was seeing him on his feet in the dugout, showing support, advice, enthusiasm. It was great to see, even from a Liverpool supporter! Mourinho just went through the motions for the sake of it, Solskjaer actually gave a damn.

I have always said United have the players, many I would take happily to LFC, however only yesterday did they look like the players they are instead of the players Mourinho created.

Of course it wont be as fun watching United not boring everyone to death while they lose, however they are, albeit only after 1 game, a bit more enjoyable to watch.
This exactly.

When i woke up today, I had to check the score again. Just to be sure.
And my god what a lovley time to be alive! Fast paced, attacking football for the win! Really looking forward to the next game!

On a sidenote: Ole kind of looks like Smeagol before he turns into Gollum.
Still love him to bits though :-)

I only saw the highlights on match of the day, due to a family party, but the way they played, the goals scored, even the bench, all looks miles better than anything we have had since Fergie. The fact I have read that even the CD were bombing forward shows just by a change of tactics and ideas we can play football to a very good quality. I am actually excited to watch the next match and havent said that for many a year.

Excellent performance! Even from the players who I didn’t want to play because of their performances in the past few weeks.

Fast, energetic, slick one-touch passing in triangles, defenders biting into their tackles. Lindelof and Shaw were so good at that. Herrera the same in midfield. He was my MOTM. He played a perfect box to box role today. Going forward and picking up all the loose balls. Pogba is just quality. Was that 3 assists if you count the foul on him on the edge of the box, I guess not.
The front 3 were terrific! Full of pace and energy, chasing down everything. Running the channels!

All this after Jose convincing us fans that we were shit?!

I know it’s only Cardiff but it was only Brighton, Wolves, Palace and Derby!! We just needed somoeone to believe in the players and tell them how good they are! feck the opposition! We are Man Utd and we’ll take the game to our opponents!

Thank you Ole! We don’t expect to win every game but we’re sure gona put in the effort and try!

Yes I thought the same but when you think about it we bought certain players in because of their attacking abilities, we bring through academy player for the same reason, I guess it's the players playing their natural game. We now look like a team on the pitch, we have a manager with the philosophy that fits the players we have. Ecstatic
