Because we've lost two finals against Barca playing in white and it looks like the white kit brings bad luck.

Also beat Barcelona in a European final in white too.

I think if we get to the final against Ajax we'll be in the blue kit anyway.

Also beat Barca in the white kit in the Cup Winners Cup Final...albeit over 25 years ago now!

I am too young for that! The final in 2009 still hurts though :( How that Argentina midget scored a header against probably the best defense is still beyond me.

United are vastly superior to Celta and only the usual poor finishing kept you away from a larger win. One done, one to go before Stockholm. Good luck.

Some of you had me shitting myself the way you hyped these up before the game. They were worse than some relegation fodder we've played in the PL ffs.

Well they did get past Real in the Copa and beat Barcelona this season. They are game raisers, but didn't do it last night.

A couple of surprise results and suddenly we were convinced they were world beaters. There's a reason they're sitting 10th in la liga and have Ass-pass and a Fulham reject leading their attack.

Absolutely. They do get it going on a big occasion sometimes, they also beat Barca 4-1 last season if I'm not mistaken. But ultimately they, and most of the Europa League teams, aren't anywhere near as good as what we're used to in the premier league.

If Jesse Lingard had brought his shooting boots the tie would be over already. For some reason we seem determined to do things the hard way this season.

Thank God for Marcus Rashford. At least we have one player who knows how to hit the ball hard past the goalkeeper. Our ability to spurn easy chances is genuinely embarrassing.

I've read people on the caf trying to defend some of the misses last night and I can't believe it. I have seen harder chances put away by far less talented players in recent weeks on MOTD. Too much bottling going on inside the penalty area from Man Utd. Besides Rashford we could sell our entire attack and it would not make any difference. Our chance conversion rate is poor.

Why has Mkhi got the lowest ratings for this match? the worst player was Lingard not Mkhi. Mkhi created the first chance and Lingard fecked up. Before someone says I have an agenda against Lingard, Yes I have an agenda against players who aren't good enough for a team like Manchester United.

And yet we managed just 1 goal against a team which is 10th in La Liga.

So you're admitting you have an agenda and aren't judging last nights performances objectively. At least you are transparent.

seriosuly, Mourinho is famous for getting leads shutting down games in the second half of games...... this is not cynisism, this is just what he does, it's not nessicairly a good thing or a bad thing, its a tactic he has used throughout his career to help the teams he has managed be very successful.

Focussing on last 10 mins and neglecting the other 80 is cynisism. The Typical Mourinho jibe is a negetive word itself , as if its bad, admit it or not. Every manager does that unless some stubborn ones with no plan b what so ever even when its not working .

Never heard the typical pep or typical barcelona words when they fail to defend and conceed goals and get dumped out of competitons .

Yes our finishing is atrocious, what's new? The point is they served almost no threat and we were completely in control on their own ground. Not exactly the hammering we were prophetised to get.

It could either/or. Both missed big opportunities and were poor in general. I guess people are more harsh on Micky because he is usually a top player but had a stinker yesterday whilst the expectations from Lingard are much lower.

Objectively or subjectively he is still a shit player and nothing will change that.

It was all down to us then to them having a bad day. They raised their game, but it wasn't sufficient for us to get in trouble.

When you believe in things that you don't understand, then you suffer. Superstition ain't the way

We should of fecking buried that lot, let's just hope we don't rue those missed chances.

The best thing about the game was the PA playing the A Team theme tune as the players came on at half time, it was genius and we should do the same at old Trafford with various 70s and 80s tv theme tunes. I'll kick it off with the Worzel Gummidge theme tune for Harry Kane when a next plays at old Trafford.

Away from home in arguably their most important game of the season. They had also zero clear chances to score.

Can all the La Liga experts please come forward? I was told that these lot were on par with Barcelona of 2010/11.
I said the same thing, people painting them as a phenomenal attacking team that was not doing great in La Liga because they were resting players. Come on, we are the way better team, we were the better team last night, and should progress. There's no excuses for being eliminated.

And (if we are) facing Ajax in the final, we will have the same dynamics. United are the heavy favorites, and anything other than the title is a huge failure.

Despite the unfounded ramblings of some in the build up, another solid performance and a clean sheet to boot for Romero. Made a really smart save too from the deflected shot which looked easy but in reality his balance had to be perfect. That's 10 clean sheets in 15 starts now, but apparently Jose's taking a 'risk' by playing him
Also his use of both feet to distribute the ball was class. He's no risk he's a very very good keeper.

Their star player is Aspas and their saviour substitution is a loanee from Fulham. These guys are no threat.

Place in the final is in the bag. This tie is done.

If we get two goals in the first half in the return leg, the tie will be over. But if its 1-1 with twenty minutes remaining like it was against anderlect it will be nervy because they will throw everyone forward.

We need to kill the tie in the first half against them next week.

I am happy with Blind as CB. Very least he can be our third choice CB after Erik and a new signing.
My gripe with him is that he keeps getting attackers on side by failing to up the line. Not the first time I notice this, yesterday he did it again once or twice.

I've noticed that too, it was almost disastrous with Anderlecht at home.

Should have won by more than 1-0, seriously Mikis conversion rate is shocking. (don't care what stats are presented to prove otherwise to save someone the bother) for someone who seems to score every round he misses some glorious chances.
I was angrier at Lingard, two clear cut chances again.

Ahh, yes. But don't think the colour of the kit would have made much difference and our bad luck was that we came across the best football team of modern times on both occasions.

Same here- all along I had said I haven't seen anything left that can trouble this team and I am not changing my mind: to not win this tournament will be akin to gross incompetence

i wasn't focusing on it, it was a small part of my original post, people just get so touchy when you raise it becuase people see it as a negative part of Mourinho's management style and instead of just embracing it as one of the reasons he has been succesful.

and yes every manager does it from time to time, but their is a reason why Mourinho is so famous for doing it, becuase he does it far more regularly then most and it one of the reasons he has been so successful.
