Lukaku is pointless.
Sanchez must go too.

A number of changes needed.

Not sure I agree that Lukaku is pointless.
We must remember that injuries and loss of form could mean that he is our only recognised striker.

Even if he is used as a substitute he can do a job and hold the ball to bring other players into the game.

Given the opportunity maybe Ole can help him improve some of his weaknesses.

He is still young enough for another season to improve.
If he fails to improve then of course he should be moved on.

Are there any leagues who's transfer window is still open that we can ship Sanchez out to?

China. his wages will fit in there perfectly with what some of the chinese clubs have paid over the last couple years

We need midfield re enforcements. We have no one we could use in the middle half decent from the starting 3

Not much that can be done now except try to rest the starters in the games that appear to be weaker. Ole has rarely used midfielders for substitutions and for good reason with how little Fred or Pereira have made an impact.

Looks like Ole has spoilt the wimps.

First time we've won five away games in a row since SAF retired. But of course when SAF was here we won every game 5-0 and played outstanding football all the time.
Indeed

I recall us having Rooney Tevez Ronaldo and still scraping 1-0s

I can live with the fact that I won’t be telling my grandkids about the amazing game I watched Man Utd play away to Leicester.

This was a tricky away game and we got the 3 points. Above Arsenal now as well so very happy indeed!

I think Leicester were still fatigued after that gargantuan battle up at the frozen wastes of Anfield last Wednesday, trudging through the six foot snowdrifts round the goalmouths and risking frostbite for ninety plus minutes. A testing night for both teams....

.....if we are to believe Jurgen The Weatherman.

Amazing work by Ole. To get us back to challenge for top four again considering the damage left by Jose. I'd take the win by any way.

We took 3 pointsaway to a team who beat City and Chelsea abd drew againts Liverpool, it's a tough game and its OK to grind a result every once in a while.

If we can beat Fulham next week and Chelsea hopefully lose to City, were 4th lads. Thats crazy givenwhere we were just 2 month ago

It was like the Battle for Stalingrad

Typical. Game raising cvnts up their game for Anfield to nick a draw then go for early hollies at home against midtable sides when the cameras aren't flashing as brightly.

If fifth place is a midtable club, are you suggesting that for your last twenty five years you’ve been a midtable side?

Incredibly happy with that win. Winning away against Leicester is by no means an easy task for any team. Even though there are still many games left to play including a bunch of very tough ones being only two points away from 4th is inspiring considering the mess Jose left us in.

There is still hope.

Poor performance, good result. Leicester were up for it today and we let it slip after a strong first 15. If we come out of next weekend with 13 points out of the 5 PL game run we've had starting with Tottenham away we can call that a job well done going into the hard run of fixtures we have coming up.

Where do you get off thinking you can come onto our forum and insult us?

How is 5th midtable?

There's 20 teams, so 5th is 1/4 of the way. How can 1/4 be midtable?

Should also remind you that Leicester have won the league a lot more recently than you have.
Let's see how you fare on a cold night at West Ham tomorrow in front of their lovely chap fans. Don't win, and the pressure is right on.

Only caught the second half, we looked awful.

How do we get over ran in midfield every game against a tougher opposition? We all agree Pogba is one of the best in the world, Herrera is one of the best in the league (in my opinion anyway) and Matic is meh. It just shouldn't happen with those caliber of players.

We made both Arsenal and Spurs midfield look like world beaters in both our games against them in the second half.

Not true at all on Arsenal.
We were comfortable in that game.

Spurs, I agree. That was an utter siege job.

Arsenal's midfield looked better imo. Difference in opinions though.

But as for the midfield it's like they seem incapable of holding possession. When we play against teams they seem to pass around out 18 yard while we set up defensively. When we try pass around an oppositions 18 yard we either lose possession after 3 passes or shoot/cross the ball. It makes no sense given the players we have.

I am not one to oppose calls for improvement but I find some of these criticisms way, way over the top. Surely, it's a sign of a good team when we can scrape wins against tricky opposition like that.

People might say we've done the same as if we'd had the other one in charge but we're not going out to play like that.

As 'easy' as some of these fixtures have been for Ole, it has to be acknowledged that, including next week, 6 out of his first 9 PL games are away from home and that's never easy, no matter who you're playing.

People need to keep some perspective because we won't become Real Madrid overnight.

People only need to think back to that season with Fergie, where we barely won a league away game all season to remember that away wins can't be knocked.

Luckily we were incredible at home, winning 18 from 19.

3 points, we completely relaxed after 20 mins but if someone promised you a poor performance and a win by any margin after how they've performed against the other top teams recently.

Impressed by Maguire as always, I do rate him, I wouldn't want him next to lindelof but next to someone like smalling he would be a force. Really impressed with Chilwell and Barnes too, the latter looks scary especially given his age...

Yeah remember the Derby game in 07/08? Worst team in Premier League history at that point and we just scraped a 1-0 win.

Anyway delighted with the win. Leicester aren't exactly an easy team to play against and was dreading the game today.

Even with Law, Best & Charlton we had off days and had to scramble for a win; I cant believe how some people seem to expect us to play fantasy football for 90 minutes every game. Winning 3 points against a good team like Leicester, at home, when we're having an off day is a huge result;titles and trophies are won by scruffy, backs to the wall all hands on the pumps games like these.

Our best 11 is clearly our best 11.

Our best 11 are now looking knackered.

Ole has to get more out of the squad if we are to be successful from now until the end of the season. He has to take risks in order for the long term reward. Time for another chat with Fergie about how he managed to win leagues with the Andersons and Cleverleys of this world.

Both teams cancelled each other out today and we restricted Leicester at home to not scoring which is a good sign.

The stats don't truly represent that game.
55% possession for us, drawing 14 fouls to our 9, 10 shots sounds decent.

In reality from about 15 minutes onward that is easily in an attacking sense our worst performance in a hell of a long time. 9 times out of 10 when the ball was received in the centre of the pitch it went back and sideways. Zero attacking intent, no courage to string a few passes together, no desire to speed up the game.

Now it is understandable that a game goes through phases where we expect to be under pressure on multiple occasions, but to go the remainder of the 75 minutes without once pinning them back again is entirely unacceptable. Time and again the lack of control in the final third, the lacklustre physicality and technicality of the forwards filled me with disbelief.

What was acceptable was the defensive resolve. We rode our luck, worked hard, and saw it through. The three points is essential and we take the spoils home. However, possible accumulated fatigue aside there absolutely needs to be a watching back of that footage as a team. They need to see the lack of endeavour, understand and learn from it. Again, whilst this type of game regularly occurs, it is unacceptable with the talent on that pitch to not have in a contest 3 or 4 moments more, nor any further periods of control after scoring.

Lingard; looked slow, lethargic, unfit. Sloppy ball control.
Sanchez; cannot function as a wing forward any more as was made apparent by the difference in output over there when Martial came on.
Lukaku; unbelievable lack of intent with his fresh substitute 'energy'. No channel running, no movement centrally, even Young had to tell him to move.
Young; utterly poor usage of the ball going forward once more. Dalot must be given a chance. With no Young give the captaincy to Herrera.

The positives; Lindelof, Herrera, the team's resolve, defensively making it look fairly comfortable, Ole's substitutes, the 3 points.

Yet a marked improvement and return to fervent football will be needed to continue obtaining results from the coming games.

If even remotely worthy of one, please help me out of Newb land with a like. Five utterances a day is killing me.

It just really annoys me that the big paychecks are blocking Greenwood and Gomes from the bench. Much prefer both of these to get some minutes

This.

Glad we got the 3 points, but it's worrying that we're still playing like a group of brain dead morons. Hopefully it's just one of those days.

We need to get serious about weeding out the rubbish from this squad. Sanchez, Young and Matic are so bad

Young has been shit for a while but man Sanchez cant get anything going for him on the pitch at all, for the amount he gets paid he is shockingly bad.

The return on the Sanchez investment is diabolical. That decision behind that contract is lying ominously by the door of Woodward. He is here and will drain us until the last days of it.
