Considering the injuries and Rashford looking like he couldn't run for most of the game i think we did extremely well. Defence especially was superb today and I actually feel a little sad we didn't win it at the end with Smalling. He really needed to just go for that ball as it was a great chance. Either way still a brilliant performance considering how many injuries we have.

Jose was suppose to be a "defensive minded" manager, yet our defense has improved immensely under Ole. Credit to the whole team for playing together as a unit, having that extra bite in winning the ball and attacking on the break is great to see. Honestly with Martial, Matic and Herrera playing and Rashford being a 100%, United would have won this game. Special mention to Shaw, Perriera and McTominay for putting in some great performances, also Sanchez looked good coming on. We have lost that 4th spot to Arsenal, but we gonna beat them and take it anyway, and beat Chelsea too.
Jose lost Rui Faria. Ole has Phelan.
It helps

Given what happened with our injuries before and during the game, this was a great result. I am just apprehensive about the following games where we might need the youth.

In terms of how the game went, I felt we had almost all the chances (even if not 100%), even during the 1st half. A bit like last year, they had not clear-cut chances I can remember.

If only Mike had really dived in for that ball in the end...

All things considered, a draw wasn't too bad of a result. So proud of the lads. Left nothing on the pitch today. Absoutely fantastic.

Also want to say the fans were superb today.

P.S. Oliver is a shithouse

Souness is in complete denial about the fact we were playing a makeshift team

This Liverpool will never have another shot at the title. They’re jammy as feck and really not that good. Oh and Mane is ridiculously overrated.

In fairness today is their toughest fixture that they often don't perform in.
1 loss in 27 is a terrific record with 20 wins?

A massive point given half our first team are injured.

We created some chances, Smalling cost us a goal from his half a leg offside and at the end with a tap in missed.

However, better to be talking about what Smalling did wrong up front, rather than what he did wrong I'm defence.

I was worried he'd give away a pen after the previous match and all his grabbing.

If Liverpool had scored one they might have got the momentum to destroy us and they didn't get one so a great defensive effort.

In midfield McTomiwank showed he is entirely average once again. Similarly what did Pereira do? Lukaku isolated but battled with little to feed on.

Rashford was a warrior given he was limping from first half till the end.

Not sure if Sanchez did much, can't recall any moments.
You cannot say that! McTominay really blocked the ball well, and he played simple, and even forward. It was actually shocking to see him that composed under the pressure, you definitely cannot say that!

Pereira has a good go when he was more about running forward and taking the space in between the last 2 lines of Liverpool, I think that's where he's interesting.

Souness is such a tool.

Liverpool don't look like champions to me.

Played like a real team. Everybody working hard and working for eachother.
Ole and his players can feel immensely proud.
Liverpool were very average and Klopp hated every second of seeing United battling and his team creating nothing.

Well done the team.

Think Oliver being so bad and Liverpool being dirty fired that crowd right up, also losing three players before half-time got them right behind the lads.

Think we would have because Liverpool were so poor. We come out of this with loads of credit.
Definitely. Don't know what Souness is on about. Saying Liverpool made a statement today?:wenger: They were dire, especially considering our injuries.

ahhh man . such a pity. The injuries just totally fecked us. I'm proud of our defence but we just couldn't create anything.

In the end a draw is fair. a poor game to watch but we would've won with a fit team.

Some let down, this. Especially considering your injuries. In the end, you were closer to grabbing the win and we didn’t really create a chance all game.
Tell Souness that, he just won't accept what he has just seen, I couldn't agree more with your summing up of the game. Two points dropped for Liverpool, given the circumstances.

Wasn’t as confident as I would’ve been when I knew even Lingard wasn’t starting. Then all those injuries, feck me. Definitely ruined the game somewhat.

Liverpool were poor. Our defence was good but we were poor in attack. Lots of misplaced passes, mistimed runs, and not trying to hit the ball (Rashford, Lukaku header, Smalling, and Lingard although that was excellent goalkeeping).

But... I would’ve taken a draw before the game out of fear those extra 2 points will win them the league, and I’d have taken one once we started dropping like flies. Two points lost for them.

De Gea didn’t have much to do.

Young - shockingly bad.

Smalling, Lindelof & Shaw outstanding.

2 things learned, City will win the league, our squad has Glazer fingerprints all over it because our lack of strength in depth for a big club is frighteningly bad.

Nice of the little fat lad to let Salah out of his pocket after 75 minutes.

If that's accurate, then it would of course need to be a gradual change.

Training would be gradual. Games cannot be though and i think the sudden change to fast counter football has taken a strain on bodies that have not been doing much running for a while. Maybe im wrong.

Pereira and McTominay worked well defensively but I don't think there's a big chance either of them will be special as talents.

Rashford was virtually out the game, and we still created the best chances. Liverpool aren't winning the league this season. They could have picked us off with our injuries and couldn't test De Gea.

Souness is completely deluded. Liverpool had possession but offered nothing. We had the better chances.

Shows how far we have come in two months that we could deal with those injuries and still deny Liverpool.

The dippers looked toothless. Don't have the firepower of Citeh and their long wait for the title will (happily) go on.

Didn't watch the match unfortunately but it sounds like we put in a real valiant effort considering the injuries in the first half and playing with a butchered Rashford.
All things considered it sounds like a decent point.

Souness has to be doing this on purpose. “They made a statement”. Meanwhile De Gea didn’t make a save. I can honestly only remember that long range shot straight at him.

Meanwhile we had an offside goal, a one on one and Smalling deciding not to slide in for a winner. No denying we defended deep, but that doesn’t mean Liverpool we’re playing offensively.

I would be absolutely furious if I was a Liverpool fan.

Defensively we were superb, Pogba worked his socks off. Given the injuries and the disruption caused I couldn't have asked anymore from the team. Old Trafford was the best I've heard in years as well

Yes some composure, but there were moments like the one he got the ball and ran in a circle rather than seeking forward passes. It might just be he needs more time coaching, but I don't see any quality in the progressive element of his game and if he is to be a Matic type that might not be an issue, but I'm not sure he has shown dominance there either.

Could not believe Smalling didn’t even try to sick his leg out to win it with that last minute chance.

This draw is going to have huge huge positive psychological impact on the team for going in to next matches. Tremendous moral booster. The team's character comes out when everything goes against it and yet it emerges with head high.

Well done boys. So close. You made yourself and Man Utd fans proud today. Keep this jersey as reminder of how you put up the fight.

Proud of the team. Against one of the best teams in the country (that hurt to type) and having terrible luck with injuries we did really well, especially after such a poor first half.

Fully agree.
It is difficult to just come into the team and adjust to the way we play.
He did the simple things well and will improve with gametime.

Filled Matic position well.

Klopp trying to blame the Liverpool performance on our injuries because it was too hard to keep track of the team swapping out a whole midfield and attack.:lol:

That has to be a first....we didn't win because the other team had injuries disrupting the rhythm!

Proud of the team today. All the circumstances were working against us, but they stood up to it well.

I thought Luke Shaw was outstanding.
