Personally I'd not like to see that but agreed that you need someone who can create besides Bruno! I thought it was interesting that Pogba more or less played on the right but still was not significantly involved. If you can turn him into Grealish you'll be golden.

My point is that I feel we didn’t take advantage of this because Ole was too fearful of a defeat. He suggested after the game that he wasn’t happy with the performance and yet his 1st substitute was at 57 minutes and his 2nd substitute was on the 86th minute.

I believe we should have brought on Greenwood for McT or Fred, moved Pogba in the middle and then had a go at them for 15mins or so, rather than the 6 or so that they did do.

Cavani doesn't have the speed of Rashford by any means, but he isn't slow. With the right weighted ball through from Rashford, he would have only needed to sprint 5 yards or so more, with Fabinho backpeddling. Even if Cavani had taken a couple of touches to shift it on to his right foot, Fabinho would have been at risk of clipping his heels and giving away a penalty.

Rashford was greedy and chose a far more difficult option with Robertson and Fabinho on him. Another example of his poor decision making.

Sorry, but you're wrong. Rashford didn't pass because he couldn't. There is no point there where he had a clear lane to Cavani. Because Fabinho took it away. Masterful defending.

I think it's completely ridiculous to conclude they were afraid of defeat because of mussing substitutions. On the contrary, I thought it was very evident they were not happy with 1 point - no timewasting, and they ramped up the pressure the last 15 minutes. Once Cavani was on for Martial, the right players were already on the pitch, and they did not look too winded.

We were far from great, but I think piss poor is harsh. Piss poor first half, good but irritatingly unambitious 2nd half.

Ole seems to have taken the Fergie approach of “draw with your rivals & beat the teams beneath you” since the Spurs game. Fair play it’s working

The tactics and setup was fine. Except for the space Robertson got on the left they really didnt have much on the pitch.

Liverpool are on a horrid patch, they haven't scored in the last 3 PL matches, drawn the last 4. Last season they had dropped maybe 2 points total at this point in the season. Those are the facts - whether it's "reverting to the mean or luck, or injuries or lacking hunger, or burnout, I don't know and I don't particularly care. You play the team in front of you and this Liverpool team were there for the taking.

Midfielders can play CB, that's true. O'Shea can play goalkeeper, it doesn't mean it's the optimal solution. If you can't see the obvious that Henderson and Fabinho are much worse than Van Dijk + Gomez/Matip no point in me trying to convince you otherwise.

There's a long way from being "Not as good as van Dijk/Gomez" to not being good. And well, did you watch the game? Did it look to you like Liverpool didn't perform well in CD? Because it didn't look that way to me.

Ole got game plan bang on!

Stay in the game for 1st hour then try and knick it. Lots on here saying he should of been more attacking, he's just like JM, made wrong changes, etc etc. Sane people would probably of slated him if he did and Liverpool stole it.

If Pogs scores his chance it's a masterclass.

Overall decent performance and decent result. Best shape we've been in at this stage of the season post Fergie. Lots of positives.

Tactically fine with this game. It worked in neutralising Liverpool. Thats what we do, neutralise and not play on the offensive. But this was away at anfield and not too upset about the approach.

Having said that, the coaching is horrible still. Coaching is what teaches these kids to time their runs and be aware of the last man. Its not just martial and rashford, although they are the worse culprits and need most improving in this area.

At one point, i swear the whole team was offside for a united free kick. Maguire too!

This comes down to coaching and training. Midfielders need to pick the pass quicker and rashford and martial need to time their runs better.

People say well Fabinho and Henderson can proficiently play CB, but miss the point that not only they are not as good as Van Dijk / Gomez (obvious) but whoever replaces them in midfield (Shaqiri, Jones whoever) are not as good as well.

Anyway, good result overall a little disappointed we couldn't capitalize.

Happy enough with that lads. Assured defending (still the odd dodgey clearance mind) is really good to see. We look organised. Forwards need to improve greatly. Martial lucky to be even considered to start, Rashford was awful, Bruno is shattered. We still had the 2 best chances.

Some will say we should have gone for it earlier- but our forwards weren’t good enough regardless. A good draw. Take the positives and build on it.

I don't think he made the wrong choices, or that making those substitutions would have amounted to pushing harder for a win. Really don't know why people obsess over substitutions, or imagine that it provides managers with huge tools to directlt affect the outcome of games. Most substitutions have no significant impact.

Its not a bad result, but it feels like 2 points dropped. I don't think Liverpool will be this weak again.

It's worrying we are not performing against any top team, more so that we don't impose our style.

I know Liverpool is a much oiled and proved machinery than us, but I feel if we aspire to get back to the top we can't do it by always leaving the initiative to the opposition.

Happy with the point. Not blaming Ole, I think he had the plan right. Just a shame that some of the players we rely on to score goals either made wrong choices or had a bad day at work.

It's a point but, goodness me, for all the talk about playing to win every game, we really do go into these games against the "top" sides with an inferiority complex.

It boggles the mind that we try to play out the back. First, we are not very good at it in general but, then against a team that relishes pressing. We had a big advantage with size which we didn't utilize, Pogba, McT, Rashford, Martial would have won anything punted towards them.

Given our capitulation to let them have the ball and how bad Bruno was the few times we got him the ball, it made zero sense to keep him on the pitch. Why didn't Cavani come on for him instead, I'll never wrap my head around that choice. We were happy to throw the ball away, at least could have done it by trying to get Martial and Rashford out wide instead.

Big opportunity missed here.
