Yeees! City are average, Silva has been below par for 2 years now and Aguero had an off day against us for once. We talk a lot about our squad but God City do have an average team (and old). Guardiola is going to have his toughest job so far next year.

And for all their elite development rubbish and fancy expensive facilities it was a United Manc kid who made the difference. What a moment for him and his family, so happy for him.

The same team that was supposed to run away with the title at the beginning of the season.

Give credit to LVG. Nailed the tactic and the personnel. We dominated the midfield with Lingard and Morgan playing well together.

Carrick was amazing, Smalling was stellar, and DDG was rock as always.

That's a proper derby performance. In a strange way, was happy to see the cramp setting it, to show how bloody hard they were working! We grinded a result, out of form and away. Perfect remedy after the Liverpool result. Let's hope we can kick on from here to get 4th at least!

Also, gutted Liverpool.

Great performance and result. Just wish we could do it on a regular basis and against lesser teams consistently.
It's odd, against the bigger teams we tend to just sit back and get a goal from the counter but against everyone else we stick to the mostly ineffective possession bullshit. We should be forcing teams to come at us, then hit them on the counter. Especially with the pace of Rashford and Martial.

That's because the smaller teams will be more than happy sitting back and earning a point against us.

Maybe a reaction to the criticism they have been getting from all quarters, especially ex-players, who of course were all victorious in these encounters and were never tonked by City.

Probably. Or hearing Mo might be on his way:D
Pity the team couldn't show this commitment throughout the season and against no mark teams we've lost to.

Worst City team I've seen in years but this is the worst United team in years. 3 points against them blue cnuts is always a bonus regardless of the situation. Rashford, Smalling and Carrick were class.

That sums it up nicely. We tend to do better against the bigger teams who come out to attack us and leave space but we are hopeless at breaking down a double line of defence. At least today showed that the players haven't given up.

This Jekyll and Hyde United is incredibly frustrating though. Sometimes I think there is a nucleus of a good side about to emerge, while on the bad days it seems we need to rip up the last two years and start again.

A lot of good performances out there. I hope some of our players get a little rest over the break.

What a fantastic result. We were superb in the first half and shown great character in the second.

I voted for Schneiderlin as MotM, but won't give him highest rating.
The fact that Morgan played, meant that Fellaini was on the bench, which is most likely why we won.
Therefor he was the deciding man of the match. I you think about it, it makes sense!

Love to beat City almost as much as i love to beat Liverpool, just hope that if we eventually get 4th. we still get rid of LvG.

Gave Rashford my MotM immediately after the game but watching back now, I'm wondering should I have given it to Mike or Blind. The two of them were absolutely outstanding.

Kept our league season alive with this result. We now have 2 huge games after the international break to keep it alive into May.

That ref is an idiot. I do agree that City were fairly shit. But great win nonetheless. Smalling was epic.
Surprised you say that about Smalling. He has digressed from the start of the season. Lost all composure, gives away far too many fouls and is fairly clueless on the ball. The only negative from today.

Thought most of the team played well, and a typical top of the table type game (except it wasn't) where each exposed their weaknesses and strengths. Rashford and Martial carried on from Thursday with loads of effort. If Lingard had an ounce or two more quality that would be quite a decent front line. Just wonder what an Aguero style striker could do for us.

I like how we didn't panic under pressure, and it may have been the first game of the season where the defenders actually blocked shots. Game plan worked well, and Carrick largely bossed the midfield.

He looked absolutely knackered. When he went to take a throwing, his was completely out of breath. Too many games in succession when coming back from an injury.

He's been fighting illness recently as well apparently, noticed he was sweating profusely today throughout the game which may have been a result of that.

Thought Morgan was awesome today. Playing ahead of Carrick rather than behind him.

Smalling played brilliant today. His from has gone downhill a bit recently but he was back to his best today.

So nice to see some quick passing. Even Schneiderlein made some proving one-touch passes. Maybe LvG gave people more freedom. Despite the dire season the future looks bright with Martial and Rashford.

Who would have predicted that Lingard would be our AM? He looked pretty good but I still don't like Mata on the left.

I hope Jose if appointed wants or can be urged to stick with Rashford. He looks a special player, I'm so pleased for the local lad. I'd hate for him to leave and tear it up elsewhere like Pogba. Rashford could be the next Harry Kane.

Don't agree with the City managers comments. I thought for a lot of the game United we really passed it well and created lots of openings. Only the last 30 mins we started to retreat a bit and get leggy. Only natural in that situation. We looked very strong in the first half.

Wish Blind would stop poleaxing players around our box. He did the same shove on Diego Costa late on and I think that helped them get back in it

fecking hell, what's happened to City? They've gone completely off the rails.

Would be hilarious if they missed out on the top 4 with Pep coming in

Ouch MdM. Thought zero scores were normally reserved for players who get sent off? From the Mirror.

Thought Carrick was extraordinary. He controlled the opening 20 minutes which led to the goal and was superb defensively. He's my MOTM though to be honest there are 3 or 4 you could choose and you'd get no argument from me.

And yet because he was shoved into CB last week and because of his age, lots of people on here were calling for him to get himself a testimonial and retire

Simply our best passing midfielder by a clear mile
