PL W FA Premier League

Manchester United 2:1 Middlesbrough

Post-match discussion

Lee Mason was probably the toughest opposition we've faced this season. He really caused us problems. There was a spell in the 2nd half we just couldn't handle him. We rallied in the 2nd half though and his resilience wore down. Martial put him on the ropes and Pogba finished him off. It's been a while since we overcame stubborn opposition like that. Emphatic stuff.

 take bow man

So happy to get the winner even though Mason seem determined to stop us at all costs.

We have plenty of positives, but I still think there is a lot of work to do.

We need a top class LB. Herrera is not good enough in the holding role. Fellaini was never good enough but still plays. Pogba still tries to overcomplicate many situations instead of playing the simple pass. Carrick and Zlatan are almost done and need replacing. Jose is in the middle of a major transformation and should be given lots of money and time to do it.
Genius statement!

What utter crap! This has got to be a WUM:lol:

I became a United fan during the LVG era, and now I've got an idea of what it felt like when Ferguson was United coach, to come from behind late in the game and win, fantastic!
Ouch! But hopfully light in the end of the tunnel soon.

I think it is more sub-bench for Smalling as he is not as sharp, tough and gave a poor display. United must now get Lindorf soonest because if Jones or Rojo gets injured, there will be no good cover.

Class from Jose. He has really come into his own as Manchester United manager.

Other than selecting fellaini
, he made the right Subs to win us the game despite some awful refereeing.

I've no idea what fans want when a player is injured or ill!!!

Saw an interview with Fergie on youtube yesterday and he was talking about late wins and the almost tradition of them happening so often under his reign, turning it around in the last ten minutes or so and he said there was no feeling like it in. That it creates a total high with the manager, players and fans alike. That dressing room must be pumping!

At this point, am not even sure if the Referees are doing this on purpose or we're that unlucky.

Call me stupid but I would take that over a comfortable 3-0 win. That's gonna do wonders for the players' mentality; that if they keep going a goal will come.
Try sitting in someone's house at their dinner table being angry about the ref. 3 - 0 was preferable today at least.

I recently turned 18 years old. One reason why I chose United as my team, was to piss of my friend who is a Liverpool fan. Over time, for some reason I fell inlove with the club even though we played like shite.

I think it was the fans, the stadium, the passion, the history, it's hard not to like. Never regretted my decision.
Well done mate. Similar with my experience as well. Got a loud mouthed Liverpool fan in my class. Supported United just to shut him up before the 1996 FA Cup final. Loving it ever since :D

Mou

The fact that LVG's era was where you became a United fan instead of becoming I'll from boredom is amazing in and of itself.

That was one of the most biased, one-sided, crooked, corrupt refereeing performances in a very long time.

It was like we were playing against 12 men!!

He tried everything he could, and VICTOR VALDES is a complete cheat, but we still prevailed.

Nonetheless, I hope that more can be done to look into referee accountability in the PL. Sometimes it just spoils the game. I know we won in the end, but he could have single-handedly affected the result. Referees should be forced to do post-match press conferences and give explanations for their decisions. The current shroud of protection over refs is just encouraging them to be crooked and biased.
I've always said that there should be a ref panel at the start of the week that investigates and punishes any poor referee performances.

Guys, will have to watch the game later tonight but should I bother with the 1st half or stick to the 2nd?

That was epic, wasn't it guys?
My blood was boiling when the referee disallowed the goal. My heart sank when Boro scored after Utd missed chance after chance. Can't describe how pumped up I feel after Pogba put the winner away.

Overall, Ibra was his usual productive self.
Happy for Pogba to finally get his goal after going so close on so many occasions in the last few games.
Glad for Mata for grabbing another assist.
Rashford looked really fired up when he came on.

But my MOM is definitely Martial. He was running at the Boro defence all day long. I thought that he really showed great character after being kicked so hard in his ankle, and he recovered to put the chance that Ibra laid on for him. I have very high hopes for Martial but was previously worried that his personal problems could get the better of him and we might not see him flourish at Utd. But today's performance was a great reminder of just what he is capable of. Hope he kicks on from here for the rest of the season.

Smalling is a fecking idiot. You could see that knockdown coming a mile away.

I was getting worried about Tony Martial but he's coming back! Pogba putting that chance away after hitting the post nearly every game was such a sweet moment too, especially after shafted by that bent ref. Am off to the Offie for a couple of Stella Cidres! A great day today! :D

Really happy with that, for the team, Jose and Fergie. We were wasteful, but I don't care.

I'm honestly crying. As soon as Pogba scored and they showed Mou and then a few mins later Sir Alex I couldn't control myself. It just reminded me of the happy days. The excitement I felt today, I hadn't felt in a long long time. A comeback victory at The Theater of Dreams. Manchester United is back I tell you. We're back!
Anybody got a gif of that?
